    great video, the Y540 seems very upgrade friendly. You surely deserve more than 20 views for the amount of effort put into making this quality video.
    Edit: you seem to be very experienced in working with laptops, would you recommend the Y540 as a reliable easy to work with laptop.

      Thanks for watching! Compared to other modern Gaming laptops, this laptop isn't designed too differently fundamentally. However, i would recommend the Lenovo Y540 for customers who wants a gaming laptop that doesn't look like a gaming laptop (i.e more professional looking)

    Hello there, i have some question:
    1) When inserting the pry tool/plastic wedge is it safe to just push and press along the line? are there any plastic parts that can be broken inside?
    2) Buit in RAM 8GB, is it effective to install 16GB to the other side?
    Thanks for your video, it is very helpful

    Excellent step-by-step video! I wish I had seen it before I performed my upgrade. I had trouble removing the back cover, as many of the videos don't show the best place to insert the tool and how much force is required to release the clamps.

    so that's how you disconnect the battery -_-
    i just upgraded my RAM and add SATA SSD without disconnecting it, because the cable was so hard i was afraid i'll break it. by the way the new model came in with SATA cable already installed along with a dummy HDD with screws attached to it. even tough i didn't disconnect the battery, fortunately my laptop is fine

    • @sasamiadachi
      @sasamiadachi 4 роки тому

      Same. Ultimately I decided to detach the ribbon cable first because of how fragile it looked. I wish Lenovo didn't include the dummy plastic HDD. I kept thinking that I could install the SSD directly without removing the bracket.

      Hello there, you should check, how many SO-DIMM slots are used in this particular configuration(however I think that this is 1x8G and 1x4G; in this case you can't upgrade to 28G, without buying 2 ram sticks and throwing out older ones)
      Check available slots in Windows' Task Manager, under the "Performance" tab in "Memory" section. If you have 1 of 2 slots used, then yes, you can just find 12G stick and it would do the thing.

      Yes you can but you probably wont be able to benefit from dual channel. But it ought to work fine and unless you are running an IGPU in your laptop the dual channel doesnt make that much of a difference. But i would still recomend buying either 2x16 or 2x8. Me personally i would buy 2x8 cause i dont need 32 Gigs of RAM but it depends on your needs.

    I brought Y540 last week and when i start to edit my videos i came to know that i cant use my rode mic. The realtek audio console dosent have any option to change it to mic like the Smartaudio manager has.
    I tried to install realtek from net and lost my relatek Audio console amd didn't got Realtek Hd audio manager..
    Please help how to solve it.

      try changing the input device on windows sound settings (right click your sound icon on the task bar and click open sound settings).
      If this doesn't solve it, try reupdating the Realtek drivers: forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Laptops/Microphone-and-audio-quality-problems-Y540-Win10-1903/m-p/4566396

    Is it possible to put 2 SSD M2?
    I would like to add another 512GB.

    • @jperoutek
      @jperoutek 3 роки тому +1

      It has 1x2.5" bay and 1 m.2 slot. So no, you cannot just add another 512gb m.2 drive. You can purchase a 512gb 2.5" ssd and install it that way thought.

      Angga Praditya you have to use cloning software to move your windows from old SSD to your new SSD, The procedure is almost the same as this ua-cam.com/video/4LsNj0LEn4M/v-deo.html
