  • This is an absolute classic Grateful Dead tune and one of the reasons I love the band so much. It was written by Jerry Garcia, Robert Hunter, and bassist Phil Lesh (who was classically trained) and is an absolute mishmash of bluegrass, rockabilly, country, folk, and psychedelic music. I always saw it as a very aggressive and hard-hitting stomper, so that is how I try to play it. It originally appeared on the legendary album "Workingman's Dead," which is a collection of songs primarily written by Garcia and Hunter and illustrates their obvious brilliance in creating an Americana folklore tinged in psychedelic energy, a truly unique accomplishment, in my judgment. This is my silly take on it, and I hope a few folks enjoy it--Tim.

If you were my neighbor, you'd be the first person I'd call to open hard to open jars and the last I'd challenge to arm wrestling! Good stuff, man.
