I honestly just carefully crack an egg or two at a time into a deep pan or small pot with boiling water. I don't add vinegar or strain anything. They came out perfect
Life changing tutorial!! Many a breakfast spoilt by disastrous poached egg.But now thanks to you those dark days are over .Brilliant results everytime.
WOAH no one has ever told me to sieve the egg but dude... I just made the best poaches eggs of my life with like no hassle THANK YOU SO MUCH also little tip for other people I pick my eggs out of the pan using a slotted spoon so I can get rid of the water and go straight onto toast
Wow, so many useful tips in 4 minutes. I have been poaching eggs for years in a pan without other fancy utensils. Little did I know that it could be even easier. Amazing, thank you!
Thank you I did do the vinegar but you showed me that my pot was not deep enough so hence why mine were hit and miss and thanks for explaining about putting the eggs into the sieve Xx
The sieve idea is clever and worked for me. I found the water boil is best exactly how you do it with a very gentle, gentle rolling boil. When the egg float they are generally done. Thanks for the tips.
Went and tried it, and Everything Dr Chill says here is legit egg will begin to dance perfect poached eggs every time. No vinegar necessary. Thanks for sharing this Doc..
What I love and have never been able to find on YT or anywhere else, is the Gourmet method making the egg into a fluttery like shape like a cloud in the sky. I heard that high end chefs can do that artistically by swirling the whole egg (all the white included) in the water and then ever so gently, capturing the whole beauty. I saw an episode of Bob Newhart where Emily was serving these lovely huge white clouds from a French brass chaffing dish (she was always cooking Gourmet dinners on that show) and she had a large brass spoon by which she was scooping them out onto plates and serving folks their breakfast dishes. I was soooo impressed. But I have never been able to get them to come out that way. I love your method here and appreciate this video!
we are soul mates .. lol ... LIQUID GOLD :) grew up eating poached eggs on toast with my grandpa -- I too can cook perfect poached eggs. The white done - no longer clear or too jiggly and the yoke hot and runny .. YUM. I know I eat way too many eggs. In our house it was always when in doubt of what to fix / eat -- have some eggs. Great video.
It is for making sure that the egg 'flakes' less in the pan. I don't do it and do not consider it mandatory if you strain the eggs. But it can help a lot.
If you refrigerate the eggs you don't have to do the seive prior. And if you stir the water prior to dropping in the egg the swirling will help hold the shape even more.
Love poached eggs but always thought them a hassle...til now! Never thought about straining the eggs beforehand. Now I can see into the water and how they're cooked. And I thought it had to be stirred constantly to prevent sticking to the bottom and breaking the yolks. Wrong again! Love short, to-the-point videos...good job.
Splendid touch, using the sieve! The way these eggs come out is just perfect. I am regarded as a weirdo by my family because I am the only one who likes poached eggs. But they'll convert one day. Thanks for the tip-off!
Perfect. Definitely the best poached eggs I've seen on any UA-cam video. For some reason I found Apple Cider Vinegar works best. I also use a large ladle with small holes to drain the watery white and then to retrieve the cooked eggs.
Loved the vid. and the ever so simple instruction ❗❗👍🏼🙌🏼🥰 Did you just eat all those beautifully perfect poached eggs at once? 🤭🐣Lol! Thanks for sharing with all of us hungry folks in UA-cam Land❗❗💖🐓
Hi Dr Chill .. tQ for your fantastic video on making poached eggs. Simple but spot on. I believe the success is due to the straining of the water in the initial stage .. I'm off to the kitchen .. tQ from Malaysia.
I love this technique. My least favorite part of an egg is the white, so the more you can remove, the better. I'd probably still cut away a little of the white off of each egg before consuming. Thanks for posting this!!
Thanks for this, i really appreciate that you explained the best way and why, I ALWAYS put salt in cause that how nana said to do it but after watching this I now know where we were going wrong! Cap or vinegar instead of a pinch of salt made a MASSIVE difference, thank you soo much!
Thank you for not wasting my time and using 30 million different types of kitchen utensils I don't have.
I honestly just carefully crack an egg or two at a time into a deep pan or small pot with boiling water. I don't add vinegar or strain anything. They came out perfect
Great so you are lazy.
What else could anybody use? It’s poached eggs 🤷🏿♂️
Then use an egg poacher. You probably don't have that either?
You can literally buy a strainer/sieve at the dollar store. Do you not have bowls, a pot, or a large spoon either? 🤷🏾♀️
This is the only tutorial about poaching eggs that has been really useful for me. Thanks so much.
Ditto
Odd i found the one by food network very helpful

Yes I was surprised that he used a ladle instead of a slotted spoon to remove the eggs. it just seems like common sense.

Excellent methodology - works perfectly! I like that one doesn't need a poacher that is extremely hard to clean. Thank you!
I have a 100 year old egg poacher but it’s messy to use. You’re technique is much easier! Thank you!
Great simple video to the point THANK YOU!!!!
Great instructional video. My mouth is watering and stomach growling. Thank you.
Dr thanks for guide us for healthy way to cook eggs.
Using a slotted spoon will help to drain off most of the water when removing the eggs from the pan.

Great Poching Egg Technique
What's the vinegar function ?? Is it for the taste or for a better cooking of the egg itself ?
It is for making sure that the egg 'flakes' less in the pan. I don't do it and do not consider it mandatory if you strain the eggs. But it can help a lot.
