NCL Coaches Call - September 12, 2023

During the September Coaches Call, we covered:
NCL Research Paper Competition Update: Submissions for the NCL Research Paper Competition: forms.gle/VceR... will be open until Jan 30, 2024. Any papers investigating the impact of cyber competitions are eligible to participate and we actively encourage participants to also submit their papers to other publications - there is no submission exclusivity with this competition.
NCL Research Survey: NCL Commissioner, David Zeichick, is conducting research into the impact of NCL in preparing students for a career in cybersecurity and is seeking NCL alumni to participate in the research project. - Many schools meet weekly
- Practice sessions involve walkthroughs of gym challenges or tolls (some schools have upperclassmen lead workshops for the underclassmen)
- Some schools have created Canvas assignments to encourage students to work through the NCL gym challenges
- Students participate in other CTFs (e.g. picoCTF) for practice
- The NCL Resources Guide provides a helpful
- Many practice resources and tools were shared on Discord (link requires joining the NCL Discord server) - / discord
