This game looks beautiful. I've been getting a little tired by AAA titles lately to be honest... Sometimes I just want a well-crafted game that is fun, charming, and doesn't have some sort of "realistic" aethetic. I'd love to try this.
The worst is those tedious tutorials and nonstop cut scenes…. Some games don’t even feel like games anyway, but just annoying interactive movies. If I wanted to be annoyed and just watch, I’d turn on Netflix
@Roko-jb5hl I make the argument that modern AAA games often have focused so much on graphical fidelity, cutscenes, VA, etc., to the point they've almost put more time in the "video" and forgotten the "game" part. I'm honestly just tired and don't have time to play these huge games anymore unless it's something really important to me. They've become too expensive, and like you said, if I wanted to watch all these cinematics, I'd probably just watch a movie. Sometimes they can be good for simulations and role-playing, but sometimes I just want to play a fun game with clever and interesting mechanics that makes me feel I'm in control (because as the player, I literally should be). It's what a "controller" is for.
This sounds like the next generation Fez. Fez was such a great puzzle platformer with very big and challenging puzzles, and this sounds similar - although with more of a Metroidvania influence than a weird 2-D/3-D hybrid Fez had.
Only just because this is a 8-bit pixel art retro style Metroidvania 2D platformer game on the Nintendo Switch, I'll give a 10/10 for Animal Well even without playing the Game, but I know this is good defienitily after watching this awesome Review! 😍❤️🔥
Puzzle heavy metroidvania where you use the other animals and environment... sounds a lot like Toki Tori 2+ (a pretty old game but is on a lot of newer systems and Steam)
@@bjornelfving6751 Guys ping me the answer if you ever get a reply, Im considering between PC or Switch, I hope it's 60 fps on the switch, but I really doubt it
Dang, the lighting and reflections aren't as good in this Switch version. This atmospheric game is worth playing on the best possible system to fully immerse yourself.
I "finished" the game today (and I say "finished" as "I reached the end" but far from completion); and I can't recommend it enough... It's a masterfully crafted game. Challenging without being frustrating. Amazing work from ONE developer.
I've been super interested in this. Im curious, how many hours of gameplay is there? How long to beat the main game and how much time of extra stuff is there?
IGN review said the credits rolled after 6 hours, but it has a postgame that kept them playing for another two dozen hours. That’s just one source, though.
This game is giving me little bit of Rain world vibe, which despite not being metroidvania, is also like ecosystem presented in beautiful visual and has great sound design. Definitely going to play this!
I have like an hour left to decide if I want to preorder this game's collectors edition for $100. I'm a hardcore Metroidvania guy, but not huge on puzzle platforming. But I will play a game with unique/well thought out puzzles, or if the game is so good it doesn't matter. Is this one of those games? I'm cutting it really close, I'll probably pass on it and end up kicking myself later by playing and loving it.
I actually enjoy the lack of music and more focus on the sound effects in this game. gives a great ambiance and making me even more eager to discover this world myself!

idk man did you look at the footage during review as they described it? I think its safe to say its good. Make your own judgements though. What you think is more important than what others think.
the fact that the creator of this game got inspired from super mario brothers 2 in some mechanics makes it even better
I think that was a joke because the publisher jokes about Super Mario Bros 2 a lot.
The funniest thing is to have Dunkey's first published game to get a 10/10 score with him making fun of these scores all the time.
I like the lack of music in the review; it gives us a peek into the atmosphere of Animal Well.
Review needs a lot more echo and reverb to recreate open well ambience, 3/10.
I heard this game is like halo 2 on halo 3
Do you have Animal Well on your wishlist yet?
That’s like Halo 5!
I heard it's almost like halo 1 lan with ssbm breaks. Iykyk
Are you guys talking about animal well? 🧍♂️ 👀
Halo 2 meets Halo 3. Weird, I heard the same.
I heard if you wish list you get a free loaf of wonderbread.
That offer has expired now though unfortunately. 😞

“Halo 2 meets Halo 3” - Could you elaborate? lol.
@@css1323 What is there to elaborate on?
@@why3994 I’m not sure what was meant by the Halo reference. Guess I’m stupid.

Excellent review! Can't wait to play. I hope it isn't as difficult as Bowsers Big Bean Burrito.
This looks like the best indie Metroidvania since Knack 2!
Looks pretty cool. Metroidvania with little to no combat is appealing.

Its realy make you feel like Videogamedonkey.
This game reminds me of Bowser’s Big Bean Burrito.
i wonder what this game looks like on a CRT tv?
Omg that would be magical
10/10, this game really makes you FEEL like an animal in a well.

This game looks awesome!
And the dev is so cool, he gave me a loaf of bread just for adding it to my wishlist
Reminds me a bit of rain world.
Not so much the puzzles, but the atmosphere with both unique pixel art.
But does it beat Super Mario Bros 2?
Have been playing this on PS Plus, it is absolutely incredible. Have never played anything like it in years.
10/10, not bad.
DAAAAAAAANG! Looks like I found the game to tie me over til Thousand Year Door!
lol eggcorn. It’s tide me over not tie me over.
Random question but how replayable is this game? Is this more like a one and done kind of game or is it one to keep coming back to?
How does it run? 60 frames on the switch I imagine?
I would like to know this aswell. Can't figure out if I want this for Switch or Ps5

From sources 5-6 hours to get credits. With around 20+ hours of post-game puzzles and extras
Long-play competionists (FuryForged on UA-cam) said that his first playthrough took him 90 hours, with more to go afterwards.
I just beat it in 7 hours and played another 2. Tons of secrets and areas I haven't hit yet
What's the performance like?
flawless
The biggest positive I can give this game is that it actually runs well on Switch
Does it run at 60fps? Cheers

Amazing 10/10, the File size is only 84 MB - Fortnite is around 20GB and growing..and its still trash - haha - Great job Animal Well!
