- Fr. Mike reflects on why God often takes his time when working in our lives. Sometimes God has to go back to the foundation of a problem to answer our prayers. This takes time, but every moment is worth it because it’s time spent with him.

Listening to his videos has restored my faith. I was raised as a Protestant but after education, this makes more sense to me. I plan to convert to Catholicism. I have been single all my life. Lots of girlfriends but not the one that is right. This has given me new hope since I want a loving long lasting marriage and not one that ends in divorce. Thank You Father.

Many who have married unwisely just wanted to "get it done" without "getting it done right" .... Marrying unwisely guarantees a lifetime of misery. Marriage is a vocation from God specifically destined for your spiritual and moral wellbeing; and He has likewise already chosen your spouse if that is your vocation. Ask Him...
Wow father. This video made me realize a lot. God doesn't just want our actions, he wants us. He doesn't cure us of our vices because he doesn't just want a person who does the right things, he wants a person who truly wants to be virtuous and hates evil. He wants us to not just help our neighbour, but love him. Amen father. Beautiful
Yes!! He only does not wants us to help our neighbor and the ones in need but also love and enjoy the process of helping them not just help them because we have to and is the right thing to do but he wants us to want to do it with love, which implies that we have to live in the moment not just get it done.
My mentor used to tell me when I was impatient: "Michael, you can't climb a mountain in a day."

I used to be so impatient, and I never let a day go by without praying to the Lord for more patience. I waited a long time, but you know, He must’ve heard me, because now I have overflowing patience and the calmness I waited almost my entire life for. But it has been SO worth while waiting for.
There's a French expression, "Aller plus vite que la musique." Or going faster than the music. You have to keep at the same tempo as life. Things unfold in their own good time. This video is perfect. I pray for patience all the time.

Thank you Fr. Mike for talking about this. I decided in the Fall of 2018 to become Catholic. I will start RCIA classes in Oct and won't be baptized or have communion till Easter of 2020. Finding level ground within my soul and doing it right. Amen

that being said, i love the Norvo Ordo.. thats how i was i brought up. that, which you fisdain is how i grew closer to God and how i came to absolutely love His Church.. especially in the moments when there are pressures to think about leaving.
i dont know about you, but thats where i and a lot of people are at right now.
now, one thing that you should understand is that God chooses whom HE speaks through and how. its not for us to decide, but to just believe Him alone.
now i may ask, if the Norvo Ordo is that bad.. what realistically should be done for those Catholics, like myself who have mostly that. ie i live in Ghana in West Africa.
never been to or seen or heard a Trad Latin Mass. what do u think we should do then?

I was listening to C. S. Lewis's Screwtape Letters today, and this lesson was in it, and it caught my attention. Here I hear it again. As someone struggling with what my future is supposed to hold, this was very timely. Thank you!

When I am getting impatient, I used to remind myself, "A castle needs more time and patience to build but is strong against storms once built, but a hut is easy to build but also is easily to be destroyed. So, be patient in building the castle of your life, for all the things you do and long moments of waiting and need of patience are for that castle."
Patience is fine when you know the wheels are in motion which God has never indicated to me.
I was about to write "I'm having tought times and whis to be done". But then realized there still so much learning so much love to give now. I've have asked myself for patience to God but I have not asked for his grace to have the Joy of now. I have health, a loving family, a roof and some food. Please God work your grace on me to have Joy even when things seems complicated. Thaks Jesús and the Virgin Mary.

Thank you Father!!! Since ive found God ive just wanted to be holy and full of virtue but what i didnt realize is God wants to be with us during the moment to make us holy. He doesnt just want the end product, he wants the process. God bless!
God is the Shepherd who protects us and saves from danger.... when we go astray he shall search for even one lost sheep to pull back, love, care and tend to that lamb and He rejoices when He brings back his sheep to the flock. May God bring back all his people on earth who have strayed away due to malpractices and bad habits...No one is perfect. There's always a chance to correct oneself and restart a new life to bring glory to GOD!!....

You're so relatable! Many times when I'm doubting Catholicism and God in general, I remember you and other inspirational people who have faith. I think about C.S Lewis, JP2 and you, and I say well they were so smart how could they be wrong. So it gives me hope.
Take a look at G.K. Chesterton too! He was an extremely intelligent man who converted to Catholicism and was renowned for his broad and massive intellect. In fact, the famous George Bernard Shaw referred to Chesterton as a man of "colossal genius."

Well, C.S. Lewis wasn't exactly Catholic -- it's complicated though. Most of his friends were Catholic, and when asked why he didn't become Catholic, he said, "If you grew up in Belfast, you'd know why I won't become Catholic." He was Anglican (Church of England).
KA Fleury Honestly the denomination shouldn't matter. As long as you are following the bible yourself and you have a true relationship with Jesus Christ that's all that matters. So if C.S Lewis was saved, that's the main thing.

Although I do think it’s important to reflect on those times when I have encountered God in the past, so that I don’t forget that He was with me and saved me in my times of trouble. Remembering that allowing us to take courage that He is with me in the present.

I heard a talk recently by a priest talking about when we want to have more patience. He said to be careful when we ask for more patience because God doesn't want us to FEEL patient He wants us to BE patient and learn patience. So you can be quite sure, God will send something or someone in your life that will require patience!!! And that is how we eventually become patient, by exercising that virtue!
I like that Fr. Mike doesn’t constantly ask us to like or subscribe. I nearly always like his videos anyway, but I don’t like how some posters constantly ask for this.
This video came at the right moment! In this moment, the only moment there will always be, where I also need to be , present, because here alive in this moment is the only place we’ll find You , if you resurrected and you live then you’re here RIGHT NOW! Not in our minds in our worries , anxieties, fears and depression but here in this moment with every single breath we take, please Holy Spirit teach me each day how to live always in the present moment, where you are.

Years ago a good friend gave me a wall plaque that said: Grant me patience, Lord...and please hurry! She knew me well. It has been 30 years and still I have so far to go in this. Thankfully God is so very patient and has never given up on me....I am more present today than I was then, but the quote still fits. Your love is ever faithful, Lord...thank you!

God knows us better than we know ourselves and he knows we just can't flip a switch and be perfect, that's why Jesus decided to save us. Be patient and excersizes faith in Christ along with obedience
God is utterly timeless. He doesn't "take time" in the sense you're thinking. What he *does* do is make use of *our* time, if we let him. If we *do* let God make use of our time, we will be paid back with eternity (significantly longer than the time we gave up.) However, it does mean that we need to endure a time of continual not-relief for longer. We can only have hope, and find strength to press on, if we believe that God will make that worth our while; our time.
Fr. Mike clarifies and simplifies a subject that I've been over-thinking.

Thank you Father Mike for this video. I do believe that God's timing is always the perfect one. Though this message was in 2016, it is this year 2021 that I get to hear this. At the precise moment when I was about to jump into "just-get-it-done" hustling. I have been in questions on my research project and a surprise even to me that, what I initial thought was the topic to do, is not what I now come upon. Yes, there is a need of a time to make a decision for work to be done and then to be done right. The challenge is when to make the decision to start in the doing. In my case, is whether this is the topic of need and urgency not just to my own intention, but for a greater good. This reminded me as well of what Jesus said before He gave up His last breath, "It is done." As Father mentioned, it is not just a job "done", but it is done "right". The "right" part is a challenge because again, the unbeknowing of what God's plan or will is. And oftentimes, the "right" way entails suffering, persecution, hardship. However, this too God has given us the free will. A free will guided by the grace of His Spirit. How would I know? I'd know. Because the Spirit says so. Thank you Father Mike for this enlightening message.

I would tell staff members, friends, students...if God took his time in the creation. He set forth the example for us how to live. After all he could have done creation in one day. However, did one thing at a time. Therefore, demonstrating to live in the moment. Thanks Fr. Michael

So as soon as the video began to play, a POWER boat motored up. (I live on the St. Clair River). We're not talking a regular putt putt motor boat. No. We're talking the massive POWER boats that compete in races. They're LOUD. And it stopped at my apartment and is just sitting there rumbling. So I'm waiting. Because the noise drowns out videos. So I have to wait for it to leave before I can hear Fr. Mike talk about Letting God Take His Time. Proof that God does have a quirky sense of humor.
Update edit: OK, I've listened to it now. It makes total sense now. It's like God is dressing small wiggly children. That part about being in the moment though -- beautiful. It reminds me of a line from a homily our previous parish pastor gave -- I even made a meme of it: "The presence of God is sacred. God is in this moment. This moment is sacred."
How awesome iv found you, words of the lord is definately needed...i have ptsd its totally changed me..im really spiritual. Follow my faith say my prayers not as much as i should. My confidence has gone im not the person i use to be.. So hopefully listening to these blogs will pick me up.

I feel like I am stuck In every area of my life. Literally tossing and turning in my Catholic faith so searched for “Why does God have me stuck.”
This message means so much to me right now and I am happy I came across this video. I have just wanted to get things done and have lost patience at times. After going through vertigo and tinnitus for 5 years I keep saying to the lord that I want to be done, to be fully healed of all dizziness and for my vestibular system to fully recover. But I have to remember the importance of being in the present moment as I go through it. My bppv is fully cleared (last I checked) and the last step for me is habituation. But I feel like I have been going through this for so long (started the treatment and vestibular therapy 2 1/2 years ago) and I just want it to be done. I also want to get my driver's license and get it done, but I have to wait for that too.
