OM Systems haven’t exactly covered themselves in glory by the way they’ve treated some of their Ambassadors. Respect for continuing to review their equipment in such a fair & unbiased manner.
I just came across your channel today and love it so far! Great video and so glad to see another MFT user who shoots landscapes, travel and planes with their Olympus! I’m a bit fed up with wildlife and action centred reviews from other users. Thanks for the inspiration - look forward to seeing images from your forthcoming trip to Europe.
Just discovered your channel and just picked up the 20mm f/1.4 Pro which I'll be using on an EM-5 Mk III. Stumbling onto your channel and seeing where you are took me pleasantly by surprise. I'm a Charleston native and will be returning there soon. I didn't do much photography last time I was there but that will certainly change this time around. I liked the video. Everyone else is doing much more detailed overviews of menus and whatnot so no need for all that. A good photo walk with some comments is a welcome change of pace for me.
Thanks for the comment! Yes, I think you're gonna like the 20 1.4. At first I was thinking that it didn't make sense to purchase it as I already have all the 1.2 Pro primes and the 1.8 Premium primes. It's about as perfect as can be for a daily carry and it balances well on both the Pro bodies as well as my Pen-F.
I am an old user of the M43 format, I like all the powerful functions of the Olympus camera, especially the camera's anti-shake technology is the world's first level! I especially like the wide depth of field advantage of the M43 format, which can take landscape photos with far-reaching visual effects, which is great! I haven't bought the OM-1 yet, only the EM1X and EM1M3. I'd love to see more from you about the M43. Best regards from China!
Thanks Stan , really helpful. I have Canon full frame now but am looking to lighten the load. Can you advise please, what in camera multiple exposure options are there, ie numbers of images and blending modes. It’s a point that’s important for me but I am struggling to find much info, thanks
Hi Deborah! Going lighter does make a difference for sure! I know these "Olympus" digital cameras have a lot of tricks up their sleeves so to speak, but unfortunately I don't use a lot of them. I recommend checking out the resources on the getolympus.com site as the pros that are on there do use all sorts of stacking, bracketing and other features. For what I do, the image stabilization, weather sealing and tack sharp lenses are some of my reasons for shooting with them. I'm sorry that I'm not of more help on this!
I have been using my OM1 more and more lately due to the bright viewfinder and I can wear my prescription sunglasses and still see the settings in the viewfinder. Like you I have not received my grip or extra batteries. I purchased a power bank to use as a backup battery and it works fine, charges the camera battery while I continue to use the camera. The auto focus is quicker than my M1x and MIII. I am liking the camera but am concerned about the future of OM Digital solutions.
Saw your channel for the first time today. You are the first one I have seen that has used the OM-1 and shot an air show. I have mine on order and will be shooting the blue angels in July ( as long as my camera shows up) I'm interested as to what lens combo you used and your thoughts on the AI plane auto focus.
The Subject Tracking modes are quite amazing, and the only downside is when there are multiple targets (aircraft, cars, motorcycles, etc.) and it can't decide which one to choose (that you want). This is much like choosing Face detection and shooting in a crowded room. I love the M Zuiko glass and find the 300, 100-400 and 150-400 are all great to use! Cheers!
Nice review, thanks. Have had the camera on order since mid Feb would be great to try it out. Wish OM Digital Solutions would let us know when we are likely to get our cameras in the UK. Ive also had the grip on order but nothing......
It does have the option to use it in touch screen mode, but between having a large nose and not liking fingerprints on the screen, I choose to disable it. As a follow-up, I am enjoying the OM-1 more and more, and purchased a second one!
Nice video. I noticed the camera your friend is filming with is going dark and bright. Is that him adjusting an ND filter or something.. Or is it a problem with the camera?
but this city is extremely romantic and has wonderful Art Nouveau architecture. Clean, calm, slightly magical. And I see there are palm trees. The state when you record something again. Your blogs have a very calming nature. This is also thanks to your low, warm voice. Record something, dear sir, if your health allows. It's a shame to get out of practice. Regards
Most of the time the video shows you talking or taking pictures instead of showing the pictures that you took...no offence but wouldve been better the other way around
I really wanted it to be an overview, but for the title, Larry recommended this one. I'll be doing a full review once I get back from Italy & France in June!

Nice to see you on screen Stan! Great work and keep them coming!

is it touch screen as well

Thank you. I returned a Sony A7 because of the menu system.

Don't sell your Pen-Fs You will regret it if you do.
Not much of a review.......
