Always has been my favorite flower! I remember eating them as a child (they are sweet!). I chose tiger lilies as my wedding flower, because daylilies just don't last. Now I grow several varieties in my own garden. I love gathering the spent blooms and counting them each day. Each year, about 6 or 7 seed pods develop. Thank you!

    H. Fulva doesn't set seed but hybrids do. Also the double flowered variety is another variety to itself and is not the same as the wild single flowered orange. But has most of the same traits except for bloom time and being multi petaled. (H. Fulva "Kwanso" "Flore Pleno")

I’ve had the regular orange ones blooming since mid June and now the first Flore Pleno has opened today!

Thank you for this thorough and pleasant presentation. It's exactly what I was looking for. I've seen wild daylilies in Wisconsin, and they seem to spread slowly, not invasively. Maybe that's due to the long cold winters.

Great presentation. BTW, apparently calla lilies are considered invasive along the coast here in California.

Hello Angeline...thanks! Can I grow them in pots?

Yes, I do. And they can be left in the pots all year, just water during growing season. Use large planters for H. Fulva because it's a big one. Other hybrids may need big planters as well but smaller dwarf ones like Stella D'Oro do fine in as small as an 8 inch pot.
