      I’m an enrolled member of the Fond du Lac Band in northern Minnesota. Years ago in a small bar in Wisconsin I got racist #%@$ from town locals. My Dad had just passed, I was in town to see my brother in law who was very sick and I was going through a divorce. I always carry and for a brief moment I saw myself shooting the 4 guys heckling me. Instead I left. I take great satisfaction in watching this clip.

    I’m Lakota. My grandfather served 2 tours in Vietnam as an Army Ranger. He never talked about the things he did until one night when him and my parents and their friends got drunk and remembered seeing him cry. I didn’t know much of it at the time since I saw him cry at the age of 6, but years later, my mom told me about losing his comrades and the shit his unit did to the Viet Cong…. Hanzee reminds me of him and I miss this man daily when he passed in 2017 😢🖤

    I love that he uses an M16 throughout the series. Hanzee is a Vietnam veteran and the M16 would have been his service rifle, so you can either see it as a sign that his time in Vietnam has stuck with him (PTSD and such) or a sign of his mistreatment by the Gerdharts, as they don’t even give him a rifle and he had to use his own

    • @mike1422214222
      @mike1422214222 4 роки тому +75

      Excellent point. In this scene, Hanzee's smooth transition to the AR (or M16) when shooting the cops was tactically sound given the likelihood of vests.
      Vests can handle lower velocity handgun rounds, but not rifle rounds...

      He also uses a revolver and, in a previous scene at the car dealership, mentions going through tunnels in Vietnam. The guys who had to go through there, called ''tunnel rats'', sometimes used revolvers because the muzzle flash from the standard 1911 was too much in the tight tunnels, or so I've heard.

    Watching this again I noticed that Hanzee was calm and deliberate, never tried to quick draw his pistol, and when he pulls out the rifle he is fast but not frenzied, even though he knows he's facing two armed cops who are already drawing their weapons. He carefully aims and fires the pistol three times, and hits three times, then the rifle twice, and hits twice. Hanzee's blood is like ice water.

Not sure why adult people in real life haven’t learned to bite their tongue when dealing with strangers, it’s not like it’s fiction that unassuming people will snap. Hanzee just wanted a break. With the tension of his service to the Gerdharts and the constant racism he receives, it was a breaking point. What I like about this scene though is that he’s strong enough a while to hold on to everything but then he sees the disrespect for the 22 Sioux Indian sign, Strike one. The bartender then spits in his drink, disrespects, and insults him. Strike two. The young men who insult him some more and mock his culture. Strike three and at that point he literally like, fuck it.

That's what I hate 21st century, I hate social media, I hate the brainwashing advertisers, I the over population and insane housing prices And as I mentioned before I really fucking hate how popular music and cinema is all commercial crap being churned out of the industry's butt hole.

      Jamie Robertson its always been that way. We think of classic media as having more integrity but we’re remembering a fraction of what actually came out. For every classic movie there was god knows how much garbage made just to sell. In many ways a lot of the problems you have with the 21st century were worse. And yeah I hate social media but think of the good its done. Now we have online communities for things like mental health and support groups. Now we can record instances of racism and abuse and spread awareness. We have so much luxury that admittedly we are spoiled but going backwards is not the solution.

They both had commercialised elements but one is clearly more talented than the other. Well you sound like one of those overly positive "know it all's".
