      The Mustang went unchallenged for years and it was a giant pile of crap. We need competition, without it the Coyote motor would never have been made to compete with the LS3.

      i'm a chevy/ bmw guy. I sadly went the route of the mustang this time around. It was in my price range as new older stock and it's got such a modifiable platform. The bang for the buck in 2018 was def. the ecoboost mustang. especially with the 10 speed auto nothing beats it. It also has the same platform as the 35 series of bmws i was looking at, but slightly cheaper to mod and brand new vs 40k+ mile cars that would need servicing right away.

    The problem with Camaro, is they didn't really design it to be a great daily driver. I drove a couple, and they all ride rough, and visibility is terrible. It's looks sharp, but meant to be more of a pure sporty track machine. The Challenger is good for highway cruising, and drag racing, but handling is fairly disappointing, coupled with a visually bland interior.
    Without a doubt, the Mustang is a much nicer car to drive all the time. It has the best visibility, a super nice daily highway ride, a usable trunk, and is more sporty than the Challenger. That's pretty much why Mustang is #1 in sales. It's just a nicer car all around.

      Condor1970 Camaro sells are dropping but Chevy can ride it our for awhile and build demand for a new body since the current car has already paid for its initial development cost long ago.

      @@WhiskiesNCarkeys I never said anything about the trunk. I said it's a great highway cruiser, but the sporty handling is not very good compared to Camaro or Mustang, and the interior is bland. After test driving, that is my objective opinion.

      @@Condor1970 Your first comment literally says the mustang has a usable trunk when it's pretty much similiar to the size of the Camaro's. The Challenger has the biggest trunk in this segment.

    • @Condor1970
      @Condor1970 6 років тому +2

      @@WhiskiesNCarkeys Again, learn to read and comprehend. I said the Mustang has a "usable" trunk. I DID NOT say the Challenger "doesn't". Nor did I say the Camaro doesn't. Although the trunk lid on the Camaro is more restrictive than the others. The Challenger has the biggest trunk, but is not the best all around sport coupe. If it was, it would easily be leading sales, because people in our category look at all aspects of a car they can drive everday. The Challenger is great going in a straight line, but outside of that, it's a very boring car to drive. Fast, but extremely heavy, and not nimble at all. It also has the worst gas mileage for the V8's, and the worst overall reliability.

    They need to drop the price. The Challenger R/T starts at 34k and the Mustang GT starts at 35k, while the Camaro SS starts at 38k. People who don't have brand biases are gonna see those prices and go for the cheaper cars. Not only that but Chevy is increasing the price for the 2019 model. They need to chill if they want to outsell Ford or Dodge.

    You speak a lot of facts. I think you hit the head in the nail by saying that the “versatility” doesn’t match the rest of the muscle cars. The majority of us want a car we can take to work and show off... then at the end of the day, take our friends, family, or kids COMFORTABLY out in town without breaking the bank. At some point GM has to stop with “electrical” upgrades and focus on what really matters.

    I like the 2018 Camaro's. The 2019 Camaro SS is horrible looking in my opinion. The LT I actually like and the tail lights have really grown on me.
    I have a couple big issues with the Camaro and one of them you hit right on the head in this video. The visibility in the windows is just to small for 99% of people.
    The other issues I have are the lack of programs and discounts and marketing.
    For any LT Camaro with a technology package in Canada, 84 month installments are usually in the high $500 to $600+ range.... that is insane. I have friends with Mustangs who pay $400 a month.
    I've been thinking about getting the 2019 Camaro LT but they need to fix all of this.

    Personally I think it's because of the new gen cars having issues they shouldn't the ZL1 1LE is amazing on the track but the issues appear on the fit and finish, interior issues and simple stuff breaking way too early. The 18 and 19 mustang's are having engines blow and shifter forks on the manual break. Instead of trying to update and change what they have they need to focus on reliability for a year or 2 and maybe sales will go back up. The challenger is just a joke unless you have a hell cat or demon the lower models are similarly priced but in no way compete with the Camaro or mustang

    Ford targeted the Focus ST and Fiesta ST (budget performance ) to the JDM and Millennial crowds, as way to foster brand loyalty. As these consumers upgraded they went to the Mustang Eco Boost and on to the V8's. Dodge went in the other direction. The challenger and even the Charger target demographic was Gen X'ers and Baby Boomers. Appealing to the "good ole days" of cheap big American muscle. With KICK ASS striaght line performance. ( America Every Street Has A Christmas Tree.) Not to mention insane marketing, seriously cool names like the Hellcat and an engine that's as American as apple pie and Mustang....Hemi! This leaves Chevy occupying dead space. As a result Chevy over engineered the performance of the Camaro in a effort to appeal to both dynamics while sacrificing useability and affordability. 2 features that the majority of consumers desire

    One thing I’ve noticed. Is that the camaro community is very negative with anyone not having an SS or ZL1. If you have a LS orLT you get demonized. And I think over all MOST SS guys discourage people from getting a turbo camaro. So the community can blame themselves. I spent a few weeks in Detroit and the Mustang community love mustangs in general. Over there it’s all love and the focus is Mustang regardless if it’s EcoBoost or GT. And yeah I Love my LT ❤️

    Dude the problem with chevy’s marketing with the Camaro relative to the competitors is that it just doesn’t exist. Every single Chevy commercial targets the Malibu, Cruse or Silverado audience. They need to generate driving excitement in their ads and position the Camaro properly. You’ll rarely, if ever, see a Camaro in any Chevy commercial. Their just doing it completely wrong. I’d go as far to say that if they decided to do every single thing with their marketing the complete opposite - they’d improve at a staggering rate. You sir, speak a lot of sense. As you'll see from the image to the left, I'm a Mustang fan (I'm English, and own 2 of them). However, you'll get no Camaro or Challenger hate from me, I love them all, I just happen to be loyal to the Blue Oval. I sincerely hope there IS a 7th Gen Camaro as I believe strong home-grown competition is good for all three pony/muscle cars. Why do I think Camaro sales are in 3rd place? Probably because, as you've pointed out, the Camaro is the most compromised in terms of general usability. Trunks space and greenhouse issues won't stop most enthusiasts from buying a Camaro, but the general public who are in the market for a "nice sporty car that is easy to live with".....they WILL choose one of the others. In one sense I admire GM for keeping the 6th Gen an enthusiasts car, because we'll accept the compromises, but its that that is hurting it in sales. Another thing in the Mustang's favour is the brave decision to produce the car for the rest of the world, including RHD sales. Both my Mustangs were "LHD grey imports" but the S550 is now a VERY popular car here in the UK and even more so in Australia where they've sold 17k in 2 years! All those additional sales around the world add up to make a compelling business case for a 7th Gen Mustang, and there's been at least one article where members of Team Mustang have confirmed they're working on the next gen car already. So, I hope GM take a brave pill and develop a 7th Gen Camaro.....but make it one with more utility (back seat/trunk space/good visibility), sell it world wide and it WILL sell as well as the others. From this Mustang fan, I hope you Camaro guys n gals get to keep living the Camaro life with a next-gen car. It's too good to die again.

    It would be nice if the Camaro roof raised at least 1.5 taller make the wheel base 4-5 inches longer so they can increase the back seat a little. Bump up the 2.0L to the 2.7L IL4 and get rid of the V6 the 2.7L could easily make 325hp and 360tor. Take the 6.2L bump that guy up the 485hp and 480tor. Give the ZL1 the ZR1's supercharger and let's make the ZL1 755hp and 710tor. But this is just my fantasy.

    Most definitely the price is killing them along with absolutely not advertising. I see Chevy ads all the time but they are always about the SUVs, the Trucks and the malibu.
    Also, the Gen6 didn't really change much from the outside. I have a 2015 2SS and have no desire to move up to the Gen6 and in fact my next car will be a C6 or C7 because I don't need the back seat.
    I have fit my 4 person family in mine a couple times, but it isn't that comfortable. Doable but only for short drives.
    The Gen5 had 1SS starting in the low 30s, that is not existent anymore. With the i4 coming in too high to begin with they definitely shot themselves in the foot with the Gen6 pricing. My loaded 2SS that I got in right at 40 would cost me about 48 now. Something isn't right there.

    I daily drive my 2016 1LT V6, yes the back seats are exactly what you said. Now as a family, we always travel in my wife's traverse where we have room for everyone. The reason I went with the V6 instead of the SS was I wanted to daily drive it and didn't want to be killed by gas prices from lower mileage and not having to use premium in it and it is not a slow car at all just not an SS or a ZL1 obviously. There were many reasons, the price and I wanted to make it as much of a lateral price move from the 2 year old Cruze LTZ RS I had been driving and also be able to keep my 2001 Camaro SS that I have owned since it was sitting on the new car showroom floor and still have a 6th gen, which I just love the design and look of them(2016-2018). I know everyone has different tastes but I just sit in my camaro at the end of the work day and still smile and feel good, still even after 2 years of ownership and have a fun drive home. It's too bad more people who drive the lifeless cars that are just for commuting dont have the insight to make a switch like I did. Oh yeah and I actually get the same gas mileage in my Camaro that I did in the Cruze I had. :)

    • @Dolby109
      @Dolby109 6 років тому

      Something seems wrong with that last sentence. I had a Cruze rental and I couldn't get it below 30mpg while beating on it. Driving at 78mph netted 38mpg.
      Otherwise I'm glad you have the car(s) you enjoy!

    • @PeterSS-sj7oz
      @PeterSS-sj7oz 6 років тому

      Thank you. Everyone has different drives and with mine I had the Cruze for 2 years and put 60k miles on it. It was a good car didn't have any problems with it. The gas mileage if I drove exaclty the speed limit and accelerated like most people do which is really hard for me I would get 36mpg but with how I drive I usually got 27mpg which is exactly what I get out of my Camaro. What killed my mileage I have so many stop lights and is on a highway so a lot of stop and go fast which kills mileage on a car like the cruze.

The 19 refresh isn't gonna tank Camaro that hard haha

      JefemanG Haha yeah I guess, I mean idk what your waiting for you can get a used 16 2SS for 30K or a brand new 19 2SS for 43K. I wouldn’t get a 1SS, me personally if it’s worth doing it’s worth doing right and cloth is nasty.

    • @jefemang3430
      @jefemang3430 6 років тому +3

      Yeah, I'm shooting for 2SS. Last year, you could get a used 16 for $30-33k with decent mileage, fully optioned. Now I can only find beaters for under $35k. It's absurd. New was going $38k before, now it's closer to $43k like you said. I get GM cut back the incentives, but I'm finding it hard to justify $35k for a used one when last year they were $38k new. I'm just gonna sit until I find the right 2SS with the options I want for around $30k, which is basically impossible to find right now unless it's salvaged/rebuilt title or 50k miles.

    Camaro sales are low because chevrolet refuses to give the people what they want. It has nothing to do with modern performance cars not being wanted. Everything bmw makes is an expensive rwd sports car that doesnt get great mileage but people are desperate for these cars. Dodge is selling plenty of v8 challengers and chargers. Ford stays true to their customers. But ford and dodge gives the people what they want when it comes to styling, preformance, and features. Chevrolet just builds what they want and expect the people to eat it up. Its sad because the camaro is my favorite pony car but GM needs to get their head out of their ass fast.

And yes all this sales talk is about the V6 engine just like Lethal says the sales for Ford and Crysler are up due to the cheaper variants of the mustang and the challenger. Maybe this is my ego talking, but im about the driver with the "unique" ride on the road.

    A common misconception about the back seats is that they are "insurance seats." They actually make no difference in insurance rates. Insurance companies aren't stupid, they know what a sport / muscle car is and what the market value of the car is; that's the first thing they look at. Other factors are engine size and cylinder numbers, but the number of seats are irrelevant.

    I love the 6th gen camaro, I really wanted an ss with 1le package in hyper metallic blue. Sadly it was out of my budget... saving for a roof over your head sucks. I went with the mustang in kona blue. I'm a chevy guy, but as a car guy the new fastback mustang is sexy af. The mustangs ecoboost 2.3L destroys chevy's 2.0l, and the mustang comes with a 10r80 10 speed. That is not the same as chevy's 10L80, it's equivalent to chevy's 10L90 in the zl1. I plan on getting mine to 350rwh, tightening the suspension and lightening the front end load a bit to make an awesome road car. Also getting gt350r wheels 10" wide all around to hug some 285mm re-71r's . The mustang can handle 305f 325r without any modifications btw. All this cheaper than getting an ss or a gt XD

    I bought my first new Chevy in 1972. It was a Chevy pickup with 6 Cyl 3 on the tree radio and rear bumper delete. This truck was so stripped from the factory I think having a door and window crank on the passenger door was an option lol. I payed 2500 out the door for it. That's how long I have been a Chevy guy. One thing I think is that Chevrolet has lost its way on certain models when it comes to styling. The 69 looking retro Camaro was ok when it first came out but now it is too long in the tooth. It might be time to retro the 70 Camaro and design it with a livable back seat and a lower price tag.

    Subscribed. Just joined the Camaro community after trading in my 2019 Mustang GT that had a whole 500-miles on it with the infamous "typewriter noise". I haven't had a Chevy since the 80's, which was a 1969 SS. Recently purchased a 2018 1SS with the dual exhaust mode. Nothing fancy and not as technologically advanced (regarding interior features, i.e., lighting and so forth) as my Mustang was. For the short amount of miles I've put on it, basically 150-miles, I've noticed that the handling is better than my Mustang was. The Camaro pulls harder than my Mustang did (puts you back in the seat) even though I've been told the Mustang is a tad faster than the 1SS/2SS in the 0-60 test and 1/4 mile time. Not by much, but a tad faster. We will fix that. The torque is much more prevalent than my Mustang was. Visibility is a bit hindered, but reminds me of Ferrari and Porsche's. Front windshield is a lot smaller than the Mustang, but very doable. Starting to binge watch your vids so I can get up to speed with my new ride, as I've been a Mustang owner... 20 + Mustangs to date and need to play catch up. Peace...

    GM has put their chips in the economy car market and trucks. Go back and watch some of the old chevy muscle car commercials or ads. They made you want the car weather it was a Chevelle, Camaro, or Monte Carlo SS. I have yet to see an exclusive Camaro commercial. Ford has Mustang only commercial. Dodge makes Challenger and charger commercials. Every Chevrolet commercial has multiple cars or just the trucks. If they continue down this road then yes the Camaro could end up back out of production. They spend more time and money on the Corvette. Seems like every time someone comes out with a badass concept for Camaro Chevy pics the one that is the worst. When the 5th gen came out they had a concept with the hide away headlights and it looked badass. Either way whoever make the choices on the design needs to be replaced or make better choices. I’ll just keep my 67, 68, and 2017 SS 1LE

    I walk onto a Ford lot, see the new 2015. Sales girl walks out, asks me what config; uh 5.0 V8, 6-speed manual. She disappears, comes back with keys. I test drive it. After e-mailing and visiting Chevy lots, couldn't get anybody to take me seriously. Ford sales girl said I could factory order for all the same incentives as a car on the lot, so long as i am willing to wait. I did. Came as a 2016 model. Bought the Mustang, never bought the Camaro.

They Should Also Bring Back The Iroc Series That Would Really Boost Sales. They need to make the car a fair bit larger. Also the base V8 should be much lower price. The 2019 redesign is just not doing it for me. I’ve thought about a 1LE or ZL1 sixth Gen but the car is just too small / impractical.

    Too dang expensive. 2016-18 2SS with loaded trim is still in the $39k-$45k where a similarly equipped mustang is mid $20k. New GT premium is pushing over $50k at dealerships. That's Shelby GT350 Territory. Year old GT350 or new GT Premium? No brainer....

    The 2017 Camaro looked sexy af but in the end I picked a 2017 Challenger r/t blacktop, it’s even sexier plus it’s a base with the blacktop so it was just one package and can fit my family of 5 comfortably, better as a daily driver than the 17 camaro I test drove, oh and my challenger was cheaper the ss and surprisingly the v6 rs too, every camaro on the lot was optioned out and they’re crazy if they think I’m paying $35,000 for a v6

    I got a 2017 v6 mustang and it was thousands of dollars cheaper for an equivalent Camaro. Why did i get a V6 Mustang because it has 300HP and 0-60 in high 5s. I don't need to go faster for a daily driver.....My next car will be a eccoboost mustang or equivlent Camaro......But this round i give to mustang.

    A Mustang is a few thousands cheaper than a similarly equipped Camaro. However. With the new 2019 update, the Camaro will probably die IMO. From what I've been reading the new updated Mustang sales dropped also. I'm guessing also to the new update. Dodge Challenger sales on the other went up. It kept a nice classic design and offer different packages.
    Also the challenger can actually seat people comfortably in the back seat.

    Just stopping by to see how you guys are getting it done . Not the biggest Muscle Car fan but ZL1 is quite nice. To bad its having sells problems .Btw It seems like heat soak is a issue we share and seriously looking into the inter chiller. Iam running a 15 STI full bolt ons stock block making 415 /380 E85/93. Not quite as crazy in a straight line but fun on the twisties.

    I had to sell my 2016 SS because the rear differential continued to fail repeatedly. That really burned my hope for the 6th gen Camaro.

    I can't afford cars in the $40's and $50's. The EcoBoost would be closer to my price range. The V6 or turbo 4 Camaro ditto. I like the look of the Mustang best. Challenger right behind it. I think the top Mopar (Hellcat) can whip em both.

    Hey
    We,for the most, all know the Camaro is an overall more reliable, valuable and best performer car than the Mustang or Challenger. Its just sad GM is sooo bad at marketing their cars. I have NEVER seen in the recent years, a commercial about the Camaro "brand". How can they think they’re gonna compete in sales with their competitors? The average sports car buyer will consider commercials and pricing before having any interrest in the car. I don’t think its the green space or lack of space in the rear seats that will turn off potential buyers of the Camaro. The car gets better fuel economy and better numbers in general than its competitors. Its just sad that they came up with this trash looking front end too for 2019... idk

    Throw The Whole GM Away With Their Cheap & Old Way Of Thinking The Competition Is Killin' Them Literally Especially With All The High Performance Charger & Challenger Vehicles The Dodges Are Blowing Them Out Of The Water With Design Performance Technology etc
