✅First Video With MY THAI GIRLFRIEND | TRIP TO AYUTTHAYA | Thailand Ancient City | Floating Market

- Me & my Thai girlfriend went on a romantic trip to Ayutthaya, one of Thailand's ancient capital cities. It's worth a visit if you want a slice of historic life and a look into Thailand's turbulent times in the past. Its an hour by train from Bangkok and there is plenty to see and do. Myself and May visited 3 of the most significant temples and the floating market as we only had one full day. We also rode around the city to get a good look at the area which we will visit again in the future.
Ayutthaya also has many canals and the Chao Phraya River running through it, and with so much of Thailand's important history to be told, you may need several days to get around and take it all in. There are many good hotels and places to eat and drink. Enjoy!

The night life is a good substitute for heading into BKK. Next time stay a couple nights. Falang Street where Planet Earth is, there's a couple nice hostels walking distance. Night clubs of interest, The Story, New Cowboy, and Yermmm and the Boss on the other side of town. So for the foreigners that want to see the temples and elephants during the day, there's definitely some night life. You should have called me, I would've come meet you.
Serious mate, you gonna leave out your Line ID?
@@ssss8162 I shouldn't?
@@BangkokPat Let me know when you're in the neighborhood again. You missed the red light district of Ayuthaya too.
@@ssss8162 Yea 555
Quizzing May on her transit system knowledge is the most BKK Pat thing ever. Adorable.
Great to meet the other half Pat. You're a lucky man. Keep up the great vids, they always manage to both stimulate my mind and bring a smile.
Thanks Jefe, gotta keep her match fit, that knowledge is vital in this urban environment!!
Hi BKK Pat & May. How lovely to finally "meet" May. May reminds me of my junior HS classmate who was so smart/clever/intelligent. Last I heard of her, after she graduated from the top Uni in BKK, she opened her own book store somewhere in BKK. This trip/journey of you guys to Ayuthaya, a sign of Pa Sak River, which also runs through my old home town in Saraburi, brings back my childhood memory. Where have the time gone? Anyhow, good to see you get out of your "stomping ground" every now and then, BKK Pat. Still waiting to hear you mingle with the locals and speak Thai though. Just be true to yourself. No acting or phoniness allow. 😁
Thanks! It was definitely a nice break from the usual stomping ground, Time flies as you get older!
First Video With MY THAI GIRLFRIEND | TRIP TO AYUTTHAYA | Thailand Ancient City. Interesting and engaging video. I support your video Watched the video on DEC 04, 2022 very like. Thank you
Awesome video Pat and so nice to meet Mrs Bangkok Pat (May) 🙂I was beginning to think you were a monk 😆 You must do more videos together. She is lovely. After May aced your train quiz, I can see why you make a good couple 😁Ayutthaya seems like a beautiful town. I keep missing out on going there trip after trip but definitely next time. As usual, immaculately produced, edited and researched. Great music perfectly matched to the images. I'd love to download some of that if you ever choose to make it available.
Thanks Chris, Ayutthaya is worth a trip for a couple of days, May is a rail expert just like me!
As for the music, it's only available if I have the licence/rights to use it. I can make it available but it's for personal listening only not for YT.
@@BangkokPat No worries Pat, thought I'd ask just in case it was available somewhere in the public domain. Will just have to keep watching your videos to get my fix and clock up the views. Am a bit of synth pop addict from the 80s probably when you were DJ'ing
That's a much nicer and more informative walkaround than what most of those guys are posting in Pattaya!
Exactly! It's more than dozen of them ..all about the sin city...as if Thailand has nothing more to offer.
Reteired working for you is another great Bangkok focused channel.
Of the Pattaya based it is only ride 4 kickz that I can bare to watch, and that's mostly because I am motorcycle rider myself.
@@NomenNescio99 What's the challenge?
Thanks Seni.
@@BangkokPat That's what my phone auto corrected my typing to when I had intended to write channel.
Great video. I can't wait for 'Bangkok Pat and May do Isaan'
Interesting idea, thanks!
Great video Pat and truly, what a lovely surprise.
Now back to harping on about the rolling shutter. Apparently the video file contains all the gyroscopic data to fix that with Sony's Catalyst Browse, @MarkBennettCameraCrisis has a good video on stabilization and a tutorial for Catalyst Browse.
Thanks! I had the picture mode wrong on this video.
Very nice of you sharing this with us Pat. Thanks agan mate
My wife and I just returned from Bangkok after four long years away. I just wanted to check in--after buying you a few coffees--and say a big Thank You for all of your hard work on YT. Besides being an essential pressure release valve during the quarantine years, I have been amused, educated, surprised and delighted by your vlogs. And they helped inform this trip and made it that much more rewarding for both of us. In particular, we found our way down to Jack's on our last day and had a lovely time with our feet practically in the Chao Praya as we sipped a couple of cold Sings, promising ourselves we'd be back again soon...and toasting to Bangkok Pat, of course! Thank you, brother! Safe travels and best of luck going forward. Hope we can cross paths when we are living in SEAsia in a few years. Cheers!!
Thank you Michael, for your kind support, and have a safe trip home. Glad you got to Jack's which gets rather busy around sunset for obvious reasons, nice place to watch the sun go down with a cold one.
How doesn't know, which port to aim, never has good winds.
Wish you two all good luck for your future !!! You suit together very well imho. A unchaired life is a wasted life.
I feel happy for you, my geographie teacher !!!
Thank you for the kind words!
Really enjoyed this video and being introduced to May. Your "natural" has always been great and adding May's natural to yours makes for even better viewing. Thanks and keep it coming.
Thanks for the kind words, natrual all the way!
Omg BKK Pat...this really brings back memories....did a guided tour in 2005.....saw about 10%....went back 4 months later on that train to discover the city doing it on my own....stayed 5 days in a temple with the monks and discovered Buddhist teachings...❤❤🙏🙏
Went to that oldest temple ruins grazed / cut my knee and it took years to heal😊
Sorry about your knee! Best explored on your own time for sure.
❤ Simply precious how she calls you “Bangkok Pat” 😊
It's a cross between ''Oi'' and ''darling'' I suppose !!
Definitely a city I want to visit for a few days; I love that floating market, reminds me of the ancient Water Towns in mainland China.
Omg.. I'm in Ayattaya now. You do it so much better than I lol. Love you two together! You're gracious and interesting. You guys have a lot of style. Thanks much.
Ayutthaya is a lovely old town that shouldn't be missed. Buddhists believe that this is very auspicious that you can see the Sarira (Sanskrit). Thanks for posting this video Pat. 👍👍👍
It is a lovely place but a bit more spread out that people think.
Nice to see May and you doing a "quality time" trip to Ayutthaya and show us parts of this city. Sometimes it's good to leave your homeplace and get some fresh air and impressions from another place.
Cheers Frank, that's exactly what we wanted to do, get a break and do the video without taking it as a serious shoot, like I do when I;m out in Bangkok. We relaxed and had fun, which was great!
Fantastic video great you escaped the " big smoke " Kenneth Williams not required! 555 great team work May reminds me of damo (life in bamboo)
Thanks Kev, definitely a good idea to leave the big city occasionally and definitely no Kenneth Williams moments!😇
So nice to see your chanel again and how your chanel has grown . I remember watching your chanel when. You only had about 9000 subscribers. It used to infuriate me when I would look at other people and. There bloke was no where near as good as yours and they had 50.000 subscribers. Yours is the best and most informative . And your girlfriend is a breath of fresh air . Keep her she’s absolutely gorgeous. All the best from Australia
Thanks Les! UA-cam success isn't measured on how 'good' you are. It's the clicks! Happy Xmas!🥳
Nice one Pat and May to see other places, Have been to the first temple from memory I took a bicycle tour of some of the other temples great place to visit.
Hi. I just wanted to give feedback. I think you are a cute couple. And i really enjoyed this new format of video. I hope to see more small trips like this in the future. Cheers!
Thanks for the cute compliment, there will be a few more videos in the future.
How could the channel get any better ? Well here it is…. Can’t wait to see more…
Thanks, there are more trips planned!
Love the railway journeys and the budha head tree 🌳
Hi Pat & May, I do not normally comment but this time I felt compelled. I look forward to your vlogs much more than anyone else I follow. The reason is the interesting informative content. I am happy to see you venture out of Bangkok to make some content. Nice to meet May she seems fun intelligent and of course adds a cuteness to your vlog 😂. You two seem so natural and bounce of each other, I like it. Keep up the good work mate and thank you..
Thanks for the kind words Paul, very nice of you! We plan to do a few trips in the future outside the city and l get nervous leaving Bkk so it's good to have some support 😍
Just keep doing what your doing your the best
Wow. Outside Bangkok and with partner. What a double treat for us. 👍😊
like your low key channel vibe. your videos are vicarious ways to explore a great city
9:20 Pat caught in the famous "headlights." - relationship rock and a hard place...🙂🙂......definitely a match made in heaven......loved the "olange line" thing....🙂
No rocks or headlines whatsoever!
Great videography and info, as always
Thanks a lot for the kind words.
Please no one ride those beautiful elephants. That young elephant being mistreated for tourists amusement is shameful. The elephants are beautiful enough doing their natural behavior in sanctuary parks like the Phuket nature elephant reserve
Totally agree with you. That's why the government ban those 🐘 owner from using these wonderful creature for money making like making them walk miles into the city for collection donation. But the government need to do more especially in the tourist industry. No more elephant ride please, it start with tourist boycott those ride.
Yeah, and I wish nobody would ride horses or keep dogs inside their homes for hours on end before walking them on a leash... 😉
It's not very pleasant when you see them stresses out in chains. Real sad.
@@BangkokPat khao yai is good
Pat, I liked this video, no acting. Hope to see more with you and May. Again thanks
I wonder if a Cat crept into the Crypt and crapped and crept out again 😊? Nice video Pat and like the natural chats. Glad you're not doing the crazy wide open mouth faces shovelling food into it. 😂
I wouldn't know how to do that! And we'd look ridiculous....the cat crapped on the track by the way!
Hi Pat & May,
I enjoy your videos as the are well presented and full of useful information.
They open up a new view of Thailand and even as a seasoned traveller to Thailand I always learn something new.
Ayutthaya is a lovely place, so much to see and learn. I stayed at the Classic Kameo in December, "Word up" !!
Especially liked the people walking backwards at Wat Mahathat, I'll look out for them next time I'm there
Thanks for producing and sharing great content
Thanks very much for the kind words mate and glad to hear we weren't the only ones who enjoyed the Kameo!!
Hi Pat ..... What a lovely, relaxed and utterly charming person May was. A great addition to an excellent video. I suspect she could even put you in your place sometimes! The interaction between you seemed so genuine and warm. Sure beats the contrived 2 person approach by others. Take care. Marc. NZ
Thanks Marc, too many follow the YT formula of dramatic interactions, faked dialogues and joy and jump cuts, but that hooks viewers! Doesn't mean we gotta copy it though.
@@BangkokPat, You go that right!! So glad you avoid the endless clickbait titles and innuendo! Totally fake and treating the viewers like idiots, and I think most people are getting bored of it all, now. Keep up the good work on your video style - totally watchable and informative!
Oh...does May call you 'Bangkok Pat' when you are at home, too!!? Lol, just wonderin'...
she beautiful woman lucky man ,Pat
Thanks Gabriella, hope you're well!
Pat, Another great video. I love the dynamic between the two of you..."there's no acting here"...I love it.
Absolutely brilliant Pat. Nice to have May in your Vlog, she's a natural.
Thank very much!
Nice to introduce your other half. Nice video too. 💕💕💕
Cheers, thanks very much!
Venturing out of the big city! Nice video and nice to "meet" your partner. Seems like you two make a good couple.
Thanks Christian, definitely a change of scenery and pace.
Nice one, good to finally meet the missus as such, she must be a patient lass to put up with a train spotter.. cheers
Thanks Jim, definitely a lot of patience!
Getting May involved & participating to your content is a fantastic idea, I am sure she has plenty of things to share for our all benefit. Good teamwork indeed.
Cheers, more trips like that coming up!
Interesting. Thanks Pat
I'm surprised she didn't quiz your Farang butt on Bangkok ! lolzzz. Being wondering for .. a while.. and so happy you finally brought her into your video's - that re genuine, so well researched, and a honest look into Siam/Thailand. Thank you Pat!
Thank you very much PK!
Good choice for a girlfriend, very smart. As for the scenery. I'd give an arm to be there now as opposed to NE USA winters. Good Informative video!.
Thanks 😇
May's knowledge of the train system is impeccable. Truly a match made in heaven. Best wishes from your fans in the US!
Awesome video and your carer certainly knows her stuff on trains.
Cheers, she sure does!
Hi Bangkok Pat, good intro to the old capital. The floating market is not only double standard but also a tourist trap
Great vid. Interesting history and a fun railway quiz.
You can still be Bangkok Pat and make short trips ;-) May I request Kanchanaburi and Khao Yai as possibles 🙏
Good ideas Tim, they are in mind, but next one will be a beach .....
Thanks for the nice video tour of Ayutthaya. Never tried going there by train of spent time on the canals there so that was good to see. I remember a few years back there was a resurgence of interest in Ayutthaya after some Thai drama series.
As I recall, a lot of the historical records of Ayutthaya, are based on journals, correspondence and reports from Farang diplomats, traders and missionaries.
She’s a keeper, Pat. Five out of five!
Nice 1, I have facebook friends in Ayutthaya, Boss and Papat have a house by the river, which their ducks love. I managed to make the old Palace, before the King move to Thailand, its a great place, fell going through a door, because the step was lower on the inside, for the attacker to fall. I wasn't attacking though. Nice job m8, I missed the floating markets. Thanks m8, nice to meet May.
Thank you for a great historical tour....great. Video
Thanks, a very interesting place and l kept to the most historically significant temples!
Love Ayutthaya fascinating site ,ps a great Bruceploitaition movie called Bruce lee the man the myth had a great fight scene filmed there where the character playing Bruce fights with some Thai Boxers cheers Pat ps May is lovely mate 👍
That Bruce Lee-esque film is actually one of the underrated good ones.
Cheers Brendan.
@@BangkokPat thank Pat I concur it's a classic mate. 👌
You found a good woman, (happily laughs), she's smart as or more than you and she's absolutely lovely, kind soul, thinks before she talks (meant as a wise person).
I agree with you completely.
Great new direction Pat. & big welcome to May.. good ground breaking trip & episode.. continue with good work...
Thanks very much, more trips coming soon!
Nice one Pat. I've learned I've been mispronouncing Ayutthata all these yrs, even after two trips there lol. Not surprised you didn't stay another night, at that price. Did you use the Agoda app? You'll be getting like Jonny in Hua Hin, reviewing hotels (Jeroen went to see him). You talking about lifting toiletries reminded me of a trip to Sri Racha. I 'borrowed' a face flannel, as I'd forgotten to bring one, and it was checked by the cleaner, who then rang down to reception. Not the same as Europe, where bath robes & towels go missing lol. Those trains are looking great now. Has the new stock been rolled out everywhere now, or just a few routes? Nice to meet May
Thanks Justin. It wasn't the hotel cost, that was worth the money with great food and facilities. There were many cheap places online but if you see a 600 baht hotel that looks too good to be true with great photos, then it probably is! So we just played safe.
i am grateful to you for bringing me closer to wonderful thailand in your way
Thanks Frank 😎
Wow, I have a couple to travel to other provinces, I'm so jealous.😲🤗😊😉🤙❤️🎉🎊
More trips coming....!!
Thoughly enjoyed this one. Great videography, story and pace of the .video. i always learn from your videos. You and May just be yourselves. Adds a lot of real life and depth to the video.
Thanks for that. Having recently visited Angkor Wat and all around with help of tuktuk I am hoping a trip to Ayutthya is my next temple bashing.
Visit them all if you have the time, its a relaxing experiience.
Nice to see you spread your wings a bit Pat, and to see your lovely girlfriend! The steps on that Temple seemed a bit tame comapred to one i went to just north of Khon Kean at Phra That Kham Kaen. The steps there went on forever! There are vids on YT of the place.... Ridz For kicks does good 'couple travelling' vids but yours seems to have a nice, natural feel to it, so if May is up for it, why not do more? She obviously knows a fair bit, she answered all your questions ok, maybe a bit of a closet enthusiast? When they open after the flood damage they recieved, a nice day trip would be to the Jesada Tecknik Museum at Nakhon Chasri, or perhaps the Mae Klong market at Samat Songran, you could give us a bit of history to why it evolved the way it did? Just some random ideas although i'm sure you have plenty of your own......
Thanks, she is a train expert due to my love of railways so not much choice! We will get out of Bkk again very soon...
May is a delightful addition to your already wonderful channel 😊
Yes she is, thank you very much for the kind words! 😇
Lovely video Pat. And nothing quite like a wonderful woman by one's side.
Thank you Anthony,😎
The relaxed pace of the vlog reminded me of the relaxed pace of train travel. I usually carve out time at night to watch travel vids when everyone else has gone off to bed. Your vids are too interesting to drift off to but they are a welcome respite--and inspiration--at the end of my day. Well done!
The couples thing is just natural so do your own thing 😎
The irony isn't lost.
Agree. Do your own thing.
Cheers mate, actually easier to just go with the flow, be natrual as you say!😎
Really nice change of pace video, I liked it, hope to see more..
Thanks Jeff, hope you're well! This was a couple days break, get out of the city and do a more relaxing type of video.
Delightful authentic awkwardness, no acting, love it. Real life interaction with other half
Cheers! All that cheesey stuff in other vids is so cringeworthy, but gets a lot of views....
thank you and May for good video
Thanks Misha 😎
Interesting city wat mahathat most be a great place to visited and the monk relics ohh most be a lot good vibes there......many ghost from the past around that place and many memories.🙏🏻🇹🇭❤️
What a great trip. You complement each other so well. Both so laid back. I loved it.
Thanks David 😎
You absolutely butchered Ayutthaya @0:53 😂 Love the videos, thanks for the great content!
Oh well never mind! Thanks!
Hi Pat. Very relaxing vid to watch nice. Cheers.
Thanks, a slight change of pace!
Firs time seeing Bangkok Pat flustered : ) You guys are so sweet & she's a beauty. And btw, watching this makes me re-think of Ayutthaya. Before, I would never bother to consider visiting this place.
Thanks for the kind words, it's recommended for a couple of nights, and there are a few pubs and great food places to keep you occupied as well.
That was really nice! You two are really cute together! More!
Cheers Mark, nice of you to say so mate.😎
Thank-you for another finely produced video and introducing us to your loved one. PS, please drive
slower on your scooter😉
Cheers! I did actually speed those scooter rides up....
Thanks, as always, for a nice video. This short Ayutthaya trip deserves a sequel, to include Wat Phra Si Sanphet (the biggest ancient ruin of all) and Wat Chaiwattanaram (for the sake of those Mortal Kombat fans)!
Thanks, and that's an interesting idea, and the museum and river/canals.
Really enjoyed this Pat. I'm hoping to visit here one day. Wonderful photography as always. Nice to see May featuring too.
Thanks, definitely worth the short train journey.
Charming video, Pat. Low-key and more atmospherics than usual but still informative. Interesting new direction. Thanks. Rex
Cheers Rex, it was a change of pace!
Just when i was wondering which temples i should visit for a one-day trip to Ayutthaya, thanks for this video! And i like this new couple video 🥰
Those 3 temples have the most significant history. Cheers Oom😎
There have been some changes to your vlogging! LOL. Interesting, as always, and the best to you and May.
Thank yoh Charles, a slight change of pace......😇
Pleasant and a very pleasant addition to your enjoyable show.
Thanks a lot mate.
Nicely done Pat! Did a Day trip by the local train to Ayutthaya in '08 with my family and Mai is right in that at least two days and probably three would be good. We lucked out and hired a taxi to take us round to the temples, the driver was very good at showing us some of the prominent temples as well as a wonderful lunch spot and we really enjoyed the whole day even though it was a long one. Thanks for stirring those fine memories Pat and keep up the great work!
You and May are a great match!! Awesome video Pat.
Thanks very much for the kind words!!😍
The best Thailand UA-cam channel just got better. More of this please. Trips away by train with the missus. One of our favourite things to do. Nice one.
Thanks Scott, glad you think so! We have more trips planned...
Nice change to see one of your videos outside of BKK Pat and lovely to meet May.
Cheers, nice to get out of the city.
Hi Pat, well I think it’s great you have included your girlfriend in your u tube, I enjoy your channel anyway, but it’s brought a really nice feel good factor to it. She comes across a really nice person, you lucky chap. And as you say, no acting or playing up to the camera as many of them do. Which I don’t watch lol. Great channel mate, Geoff uk, here for another 3 wks.
Thank you Geoff, l agree it brings something extra to the odd video, people might get bored if it's just me all the time......😇
Hi Pat, I disagree with your reply about people getting bored if it’s only you all the time. I subscribed some time ago, not once have I thought , come on you can do better. Your very calm in your voice, your knowledge is amazing, I’m sure you do research, but to remember it all on camera, I take my hat off to you. And of course whenever I see a cat here in Thailand, I think, mmm, I wonder if you have been a star of the show lol. Just keep doing what your doing pat.
Thanks again for your reply. Geoff.
@@geoffbailey140 Thanks very much Geoff, appreciate your honesty. More knowledge and cats on the way, and knowledge of cats too, as I'm studying....
Fantastic Video Pat... Keep it up....
Thank you Stephen😇
A great vid, Pat, thanks!
Thanks mate!
I remember when the popular Thai drama Love Destiny’ came out…Ayutthaya and the ancient city were flush with all the all classic attire that everyone rented to take pictures as they walked around the ruins…..very cool…
I didn't see anyone offering costumes! Would have looked great for the video...
@@BangkokPat yeah that woulda been cool….it’s an old drama now so the hype likely faded…but there’s probably some shop with the stuff still on the rack in back….lol…we rented some cool outfits in ChiangMai and scooted around on a rental…people thought we were famous…lol
Bravo 👏🏼… simple & sweet 🫰🏼
Cheers J!
Hi Khun Pat, I have to admit that Khun Mays' pronounciation is better than average Thai people .. Hope to see her more in your informative videos .. Cheers ..
This is quite a surprise 😊👍 nice video sir, amazing place, and good company 🙏👍
Thank you lvan, a change of style for a change....
Thanks
Kob kun ka 🙏🥰
Thank you very much 😎
Enjoy your trip!
Please let me share what can be done to enhance the vibes of stations. Too much weed around the stations. Well-kept small gardens for the red line are sufficient.
Thanks, trip was great, albiet rather brief. Didn't smell any weed around the station though.
There is a really nice festival at Ayutthaya in December, well worth checking out. Lots of different stalls and live music in around the old ruins. Last time there was also a big battle recreation with the elephants. It usually goes for about a week to ten days.
Interesting, if l'd done more research we may have waited for that, but maybe we will want to get away again at Xmas..Thanks for the tip!
very good BKK Pat and May. at 18;01 min you went by an old friend at the floating market. at the dress shop booth. it was a bring it home feeling..
You know the lady selling at the shop?
I had just left Ayutthaya a few weeks before you and May got there. I hope to spend more time in BKK when I come back in October.
Yes ,I visit her and her family since 2014 when I come to Ayutthaya every year, sometimes twice a year.
lol "word up" was my fave for a bit.
Classic tune but not their funkiest!
great video its nice to get out of bkk some times and go on a road trip , makes a pleasant change, im sure ive been to the floating market with my ex many years ago , seeing it again was a trip down memory lane , take it easy , see you on the next one
Cheers Paul, definitely great to get a break from the old routine of Bkk. Floating market was pretty much what you'd expect from one created artificially without any history, soulless I suppose you could call it!
Another great video from Pat the bkk legent
cheers ZZ! 😎
