i actually love football like this. much more exciting imo. i cant play long ball on fm11 or 12. ive tried till im blue in the face. the striker/s just constantly drift out of position. was good watching this tho. great stuff
Love this. I’m doing something very similar. As an experiment Took Harrogate town but used the editor to create above average div 2 players (all 75 CA). 4-4-2. Very direct. Balanced mentality. Gk on defend, 2 full backs on support, 2 no nonsense centre backs, wingers on support, 2 bwm on defend, and a target forward and poacher up top. Comparison shows we are worst team in league for technicals, but one of best for physicals.
Nelson Wieper is amazing for hoof ball with his 17 jumping reach, 15 heading and 16 finishing...even though I'm managing Liverpool, sometimes I find that hoof ball works really well, playing a 442 diamond with a shadow striker to follow up Wieper and Sesko ahead...and defenders like Diomande (15 passing and 17 vision), and great crossers at FB like Porro Porro, TAA and Connor Bradley...I rermember watching Norway beat Brazil in the 98 world cup playing hoof ball with lots of long diagonal passes from their full backs and have always been a bit of a fan since
The board obviously got the budget for the premier league from the playoff prize. I don't know the actual amount but it is a lot of money. Greater video btw
the issue with direct passing for me is that players no matter what always play long balls, even if theres a much more effective and easy pass. what might work is to have defenders on direct passing + not forcing the build up with defenders and using shorter passings, so MAYBE the defenders pass it long to the target striker or on the speedy wingers and then the players around are gonna play it short, to create an actuale goal chance. in my mind it works, gotta see on the engine lol. (also maybe i had players not suited for it)
You are right. Turn of play out of defense in ME, you will then notice that you can increase each of your defenders passing directness while on shorter passing. This is how you get it done. Very good on WBs when you are chasing a game but the AI drops deep
Mctominay is a legend for me on fm24. I signed him for West Ham and tried a similar approach to you, I wanted tall strong plays. I won the league first season and McTominary was one of my best players. Had him on S Vol on attack.
Ah, yes, I can hear "Rule Britannia" playing in the background Gotta miss this proper english football. Unfortunately, nowadays some bald dude broke football and now you have everyone playing 4-2-3-1 and Colchester and Blackpool are trying to pass the ball around instead of roofing it to the big man the way God intended.
Since Gengen press etc work all based on Physical stats plus pressing it would be interesting to see this experiment, long ball, conducted based on high technical attributes. That is playing hoof ball with players with 20 for vision/passing etc. I theorise with how the match engine works this would be the best way to utilize these players (as backward as this may sound). Like imagine Xavi or Modric pinging the ball forward deep to a striker in space up front, it makes sense to me.
Another enjoyable video, might have to give this a go with a club with a more substantial budget...like Man Utd...and turn McTominay into a goal machine 🤭
That is really cool to see! I always seem to play the same type of football any tactic I create or team I play with. Maybe I'll try something like this some time!
I’m kind of in the process of doing something similar now, took over Newcastle to try to replicate the classic 4-4-2 with a Little & Large combination up front with a Target Man and Poacher, Long Kicks from the Goalkeeper, Traditional Wingers etc. … Pre-Season it’s pretty decent but I’m not sure if it’ll be like that when it matters!
Ah so basically this is my country Indonesia type of football few years ago, long ball, run and hope for the best, then gassed out after 60 min of play 😂😂
I am playing hoofball with Everton on a 2001/2 database. Signed Crouch to be a backup for Bid Dunc as the big man. Bellamy and Andy Johnson for the flick ons and balls over the top.
Hey stinger I know you love a pep tactic 😂 idk about you but for me the most entertaining football I’ve ever seen in the prem was 18/19 city with the natural wingers. I’d love to see a recreation of that!
Good job making that work. I've tried long passing but I find my players make too many stupid passes right to the other team. They do that enough when I tell them to keep it shorter and take your time. When I crank up directness and tempo - its like my people are blind. It's one thing to have low possession because you're a vertical offense, but it's another when you're just giving away the ball with stupid "passes". Maybe direct and low tempo. Maybe they can pick out passes better. I don't really like shorter passes, it just seems more reliable with how players make decisions (at least in FM23).
My first time playing fm I played route one because why fans wanted it. And I had no idea how to do tactics and I won the Czech first division with a horrible team doing it
Route one, to be run effectively needs a cautious approach defensively. The only "risky" instruction that isn't contradictory to route one is high press (which is advisable to use). You have no penetration in both flanks with a NFB + Winger S/DW S set up. If you use a NBD/FB/WB D you need to pair him up with a W/WM A. A WB D + W A on the right and a FB S + WM S on the left would be the most optimal choices. You don't have enough players responsible for providing attacking cover with a SV S and a SV A. If you wanna use a SV, use one on support paired with a BWM D, every other set up with a SV will lack something in terms of positional responsibilities and SVs aren't particularly great for route one. You also need to be much more aggressive offensively than what you are, to have any chance of creating high xG chances. Route one also runs better in Cautious or Defensively, anything over Balanced and it seizes to be route one and it most likely becomes a wing play.
Wycombe get so much hate but I don't care. We used to be a nice squeaky clean club but Ainsworth 'anti football' established a mindset and culture into our club. I enjoy this style of football and how much it irritates people
@StingerNeilD it also low key went unnoticed that Klopp would play quite a direct style of football but those players could also play their way out of trouble
"Where have they got the 32 million from..." From the EPL promotion money. Promotion gets you 138 million over three seasons most of it up front. Your board is cheap as heck.
Do you mean it is also your nan's favourite team...or that you and your wife share a nan?! ua-cam.com/video/4_SxAYW-G9M/v-deo.htmlsi=deGQkVxpbH_3a-x4&t=74
I like that the first signing for a team dedicated to hoof ball was a La Masia graduate
Introduce him to the dark side
@@StingerNeilD😂😂
Old school "Route 1" style!!! Stinger bringing back the glory days of Wimbledon with John Fashnu and Vinny Jones and the boys. Great work.
Exactly that. Fashunu always put high pressure on centre backs

Inverted wingers or byline wingers ? Real question
@@blitosz byline wingers. Wanted to go old school
was my dream to see a tactic like that having success :)
Moderate success but success all the same 😂🫡
Hope you enjoy! Sorry for the delay in uploading. Real World daytime job got in the way and it was a big edit. ❤
found your channel a few days ago and I absolutely love it
I appreciate you giving me a chance 👍

I agree I was just surprised they gambled and gave me that much
i've been waiting for this one

Be a cool thing to try
usually dont copy tactics but managing in finland this has really helped me out!
Glad it's helped 🫡
Superb video mate. How refreshing to see a long ball tactic work!
Thank you bud. 'Worked ' is a bit strong though 😂
I can't help noticing that the season after relegation Burnley made the Conference League... Burnley won the Carabao Cup. Noice
I always miss these things

Great video! Video's like this make me want to start a new safe and try to it too. Cheers
Thank you! It's really tough. Recruitment for physical players is the way
Reminds me of an FM20 save I did with Burnley. Average height in my squad was 6’2 😂. I remember my wingbacks scoring so many headers on attack duty
Perfect 😂
I bought Kyle Hudlin for Liverpool once just to see how he did as a target forward, he scored some goals but never improved surprisingly 😅
Always choose the "Put the ball into the box, get a few elbows flying about" half time team talk option.
I am playing hoofball with Everton on a 2001/2 database. Signed Crouch to be a backup for Bid Dunc as the big man. Bellamy and Andy Johnson for the flick ons and balls over the top.

Well, that is what happens in real life with "hoofball" or even direct long ball passing. Like he says, it's a low possession rate tactic
Great content & presentation dude!
Appreciate it!
Have you got a set piece routine you use i mean i love the goals from throwings i want to try this. Another great video my top notch creator
This was simply just selecting long throw and having big players on the box
Man I love your videos
Thank you 🫡
Good video try FC Augsburg they have some good units for this to work
I love hoof ball with a big man up front and aggressive tacklers in defence and midfield
Same my friend!

Wondering if this playing style could ever win the prem in FM
I doubt it. Could always try with City
I’m so playing this style!!!
Can you try playmakers only if it hasn’t been done before?

Do a video where each game you do a number formation every game. Example: game 1 is number 1, game 2 is number two until you get sacked
lots of edits and sound effects lol maybe a bit much for moi gets distracting but banger vid

I didn't overthink that 🤷 I have nothing against hibs btw 😂
High press? I assumed you’d play a low block for hoof ball.
Hard working strikers putting pressure on defenders. That's how I watched Wimbledon in the 90s. More than one way to do it

I doubt it but maybe in a one off match ...
I wonder how many FM players actually use those pre-set tactics. Seems completely pointless to me.
Not many. New people to the game, but they aren't great
is there a tactic i can download i would love to try this
It's in my patreon, might give the tactic its own video on my 2nd channel
