I know North Korea is a shithole and all, but it's like every time these pompous assholes see a North Korean they just want to prod them with a stick like provoking an animal, they want the animosity for a good
scoop, and label anything N. Koreans say as propaganda. *Even if there are propaganda, these rubes are so naive to think North Koreans believe any of that shit?* Even their lives in a Siberian labor camp is preferrable to life in North Korea, they know this, because at least they don't have to worry about feeding themselves and their family like in North Korea where there are no government issued rations anymore for several years now.
Even North Koreans who spout propaganda must do it because they fear for their lives. *The most common skill every North Korean has is to learn how to deny their hatred for their regime,* and they speak aggressively
because if they don't they will seem very reluctant in defending their oppressor who possesses the lives of their entire families back home. The only people who believe in propaganda are kids in school, but they soon grow out of it.

sc0tte1 First, when USSR was supporting NK, they lived quite well, so you cannot blame Russia for what NK is doing now. Now they are independent country and Russia is not responsible for USSR collapse and doesn't have to support all communist countries (but I am not sure what North Koreans are trying to build, definitely not communism). This kind of support is actually the thing that harmed USSR economy the most.
Also, ofc it is bad to use people that way, but it helps North Korea is some sense, right? I mean it is Nprth Korean people, who are suffering, so some trade with Russia can help their living standards.
I am however ashamed to see that Russia uses those people as practically free working force, that is disgrace.

I wonder if it would make a difference, if they approached saying "we admire the work you are doing. We'd like to show the world that you have industrial equipment, that you have cars, you have factories, trains, rails... you have engineering skills - welding, machining, locally, independently. We've been told lies, and being here we can see people are skilled, intelligent and hard working. And we'd like to show that. This is impressive." Which is kind of true, really. All of these DIY machines are super cool. Forest is not "clean" anywhere... it's field work. The "pay" is a different question, but... still. Approaching with respect.

In America it's much more civilized and sanitary but also a modern day slave trade. Anywhere where the government sets wages it's a shit show. You just feel like an ant living in an ant farm after a while.
Big business is a slave game as far as I'm concerned. They always get in bed with the government and rig the game in their favor no matter what you do. The cream rises to the top, and the greediest soike balls end up running business in the same way.

My grandmother was running from war/battle from north to south, then the war stopped and the DMZ was setup. this is how it was for most ex-north koreans post korean war. Since then, anyone who was running from battle fields down south, then when war stopped, was stuck down south (fortunately), but also never heard from their families again.

I don't know about these labor camps, but from what I see in this video this is heaven compared to the conditions we lived in when I was an undocumented immigrant in the USA, in florida, north and south carolina, texas, and Tennessee, and they treated us like shit too, the farmers, and our direct bosses, they constantly threatened us to call immigration and they would withhold our small salaries for weeks too, they also had no clean drinking water and about twenty five of us would be crammed into a single mobile home, not a double wide, the other smaller one!! We'd sleep on the floor with just a blanket, food was provided by the farmers and we had no idea if they sold it to us cheap or expensive, it was NOT included. During work hours they would not give us water but sold us soft drinks which whey said we'd pay for at the end of the week.
My point is this Vice reporter could have started with his own country, or the USA if he's Canadian, examine that first before you go half way across the world to criticise these guys. There's no saint countries anywhere in the world, and the main difference as far as I have lived it is between the haves and have nots, and the have nots are more everywhere you go. In fact all ALL the industrialized countries have places worse than this camps inside their countries... so what is the point of this video, we already know Korea sucks, and the propaganda against it is everywhere in the developed countries, the insistence to find out about N. Korea is weird in many ways. One of the roots of this whole monetary colonialism is the International Monetary system and how it is set up with the us petrol dollar at its base, and the fact the USA will not allow anyone to pay in their own currency but has to always be based on the EXCHANGE in comparison with the SA dollar, when some countries have tried the USA pressures the oil countries to ONLY accept petro dollars, and I hope we don't have to go into why if the USA dollar is the basis for the international monetary system then everything eventually flows to the USA in their fractured banking system where they can lend many times over the amount of money they have in reserve, I believe it is ten times the amount, so if they have one million they can lend ten million, and if you want to talk about secret places these banks make north Korea look like Utopia.... but of course now everyone will just call me conspiracy theorist and other names instead of refuting the points made, or maybe even investigating it themselves.
Overall it is good we are at least getting other types of news, but... to just go on a smear campaign with Korea when the same or worse places exist RIGHT NOW in basically all developed countries, stinks of double standards, and hypocrisy.
I had my feel of the "american dream" and I lived it and it is shit, I lived and was stopped all the time for driving while mexican, and some of the cops actually told me and others that when I went to town, they straight told me to stay in the field camp where they had one or two mobile homes set up for us ALL. They didn't want us in their town least we may fuck some chicks, they told us that too. But no one believes this could happen in the good o'l USofA.

And if "boohoo" is your answer, that is exactly what i expected, and leaching is the last thing we did, more like you all eat cheap produce because of the slave camps you have in your country, so you and the USA in the recent past have leached off a lot of slave labor to live as you do. so who's the leeching bastard?? If we have no right to complain then this guy making this stupid video about N. Korea is doing the same thing, but of course you like it because it is the right thing to think and do in your country.

aopdaoprkhopjarophjoajkrporhkojkarophoaerjhoajrhopjmrhipmhn Detroit doesn't suck because of extreme capitalism. Detroit sucks because it's run by, admittedly mild when compared to North Korea, socialists.
I've seen many people say the same thing as you have and it's very, very sad. When you actually do the research into what turned Detroit from a beacon of success into the awfulness of what it is today, you see what John Wolf described. More than 50 years of unopposed ruinous democrat policy.
Also, NK IS awful John. The UN won't intervene because the UN can't intervene. In order for the UN to "intervene" in North Korea, the UN nations capable of intervening would basically have to unanimously agree to do so. Hence, the UN doesn't get a whole lot done about much of anything when it comes to things like this.
