Intro playing-WOW! I like this pedal better in a mix than on its own. Nice. Tubes are expensive yes,Unfortunately, I’m sure doctors and lawyers (who learned 3cowboy cords)will be lining up for it at$800…and zero giging musicians who could really play that pedal right.😢
Came here to say this. I've been chasing the Dumble as much as I can, but it is an EXPENSIVE sound. Saving for a Ceriatone. With Gig money, I'll hopefully be able to get one early into next year.
Better to wait for a Chinese to copy it 😂😂 I already have the KOT copied and it sounds crazy for €70 😁?

I have the ODS Preamp :)
Considering a Dumble clone would set you back thousands, a preamp like this would make sense for a person that can’t afford the full thing but still wants the Dumble experience.
That costs more than the Juggler, which I recently got and is amazing.
Can’t wait to hear the tubescreamer pedal. I always hated that it is called a “Tubescreamer”, but there is no tube to be found anywhere. (I realize the idea is that a Tubescreamer is supposed to jack up the tubes in your amp and make them scream. Still tho…)
I wonder if it’s a starved plated voltage design like the Tube Driver and Zendrive2

Not impressed. Very harsh and piercing upper mids and treble. My ears are bleeding.
This box is on a whole other level then most.
I have a very similar preamp, built by Honey Bee Amps in Hungary. Mine is a Steel String Singer based circuit which was custom ordered by me and shipped to me in the USA. I wanted to attach a few pictures, but it wouldn't work. The size, layout and build quality are almost identical. Mine is finished in a blue and gold paisley tolex type material.

Another great piece of gear priced way outside of a gigging musician's price range. Great job! $800+ for a petal? I'm really starting to root for that bubble that has formed within the retail music industry.

Didn't think it sounded like the dumbles I've heard .......but it did sound fantastic helped by tremendous playing as well
First of all, your playing is absolutely beautiful and the unit sounds great. What I would like to know is what am I hearing and how can I use this at home? What I mean by that is I assume I am hearing a recording through some kind of software, not a mic'd amp. How are you as the player hearing it/ using it at your home? Through studio monitors? If so how does it sound through them? How does this sound if you plug it into the effects loop of an amp or with the use of a power amp and a cab ? All these modelers and preamps seem to be demo'd the same way, without the use of a real speaker of some kind. So I don't really know how to evaluate it. Any advice you can give to a novice home player would be appreciated. You still earned a subscriber since your playing is so damn good.

I got the SSS from Koji last year. Game changer for my hybrid rig! I feed it into a Two Notes Cab M+ and haven't looked back.

7:23 if you run this into the effects loop “you have now completely transformed your amp into a Dumble”. What a ridiculous statement. Of course you haven’t. You’ve merely patched in some sort of representation of somebody else’s idea of a dumble preamp.

Think of it as an amp rather than a pedal. The amp is always last in the chain

I watched this right after placing an order for an AN overdrive reverb/phoenix fury after a long conversation with Taylor after contemplating between that one and the bombshell OD (based on the ODS) 😆. Looks like this can bridge that gap

I have a PeaceHill FX TRJM and it's one of the best pedals I've ever played.
If you are a tube amp guy but have to play direct, plugging this thing into any IR loader makes your direct sound so alive compared to any modellers out there.
Amazing sound. And playing, of course! I have a Vertex Steel String Singer Double pedal which I love. But I've been waiting to find an ODS pedal to add to my studio. This is it. Now if I can find one to buy...
So I am not the only one who likes this backing track.
I do like the Over Drive Special sound as well. I would like to know how close they are from this preamp to the captures I found in TONEX.
Ive always wondered how a dumble style pedal turns your amp into a dumble... when none of the dumble amps were made the same...
Is this particular "dumble" pedal designed to replicate a certain dumble amp?
I have the Peace Hill SSS and the ODS, never owned a dumble or clone. But I have all the UAFX pedals(Dream, Ruby, Woodrow and Lion + the Friedman IRX). The SSS and the ODS sound better, it is really easy to get a good sound with a UAFX ox stomp. By the way, the ODS distortion can be brutal if you want, I was surprised. they are not cheap but they really sound good. They take pedals really good.

BUDDY, What does the RATIO control do? This sounds like the best Dumble pedal I have heard because it has more functions to get different types of Dumble tones lots to choose from but the price is way overpriced

Can I run this straight into a speaker cab, or do I need more devices to use it in this manner.
Guitar amps are typically a pre-amp and power-amp all in one. This is just the pre-amp section so you have to put it in front of your amplifier or into the fx loop of your amplifier. It can not be plugged directly into the speaker cab.
No stompbox is $800 “good”.

How much should this hand built pre amp be? $12? Twelve? Would TWELVE dollars make sense for a replicated handmade top parts dumble preamp be a fair price for you? Help me understand this comment I beg you help me
@@BuddyBlues Calm down, breath and relax.... No one attacked anyone. The power supply is the weak link. That is what will fail. The remaining parts do not cost too much more realistically. $800 is a lot for a pedal, maybe not for you, but for the other 99% of us it is. And we don't get this stuff for free, like many influencers do.
Are you going to make a permanent home for this pedal on your pedal board?
For me, at around $600, I might consider this, at $500 I would be more apt to push the buy now button. At $400 it is a great bargin. At $800, it is just a hard sell. Handmade or not. The Power supply is what makes it a no go for me. When that fails ( and it will ) you have a very expensive paper weight waiting to happen. And you will find that the PS is cheap, very cheap.... Like $12 on Ali Express cheap for most versions. If this company is gone in 5 years, what do you do then?
@@LukeGeis-ww4ruyou should look at Kingsley pedals. He makes real tube preamp and overdrive pedals of all flavors. I have a few of them, and they sound fantastic. Hand made, and the tubes run at high voltage. His pedals sell for $400-500-$600 depending on model.

@@JHPRS And I feel that price for the Honey Bee is a more appropriate price tag. $800 is out of line to me, whereas $600 is the point where I feel the value proposition meets the consumer. It doesn't matter if it is the best built pedal in the world, it has to be worth the price. $800 for a pedal is pretty high.
