@@DonSpork Very, this game clearly has legs as long as the central mechanics are maintained theres no reason why the game cannot be added to for more mass market appeal.
A lot of people don't actually give the credit that this game deserves. I didn't see any other company making a game like this. It reminds me of the clocktower but on a whole different level.
The sound of Alien Isolation is the best out of any game I've experienced. If I had to rate one part of the game the highest it would be the sound design, it's flat out amazing.
d3tach3d It was a 'bore fest and repetitive' for YOU. I'd make a heavy assumption that most people don't share your sentiments. But hell, each to their own.
My perfect dream home would look just like this industrial futuristic interior design. 45 degree angles everywhere. Padding, pipping, & steel grates in every corridor. computer panels & instruments in random places. Every SciFi movie looks like this yet we never see any interior design like this on those Extreme Home shows on HGTV. I'm going to spend much of the game enjoying the games architecture.
This is the only game that has ever made me feel TRUE real terror from the alien, the sounds and AI of the alien are so haunting and menacing, and I felt like I was really about to die a gruesome death.
18:45 - 20:11 that clip of the San Cristobal Medical Station - holy shit that's tense! That's sold me on this game right there - can't wait for this to come out next week.
I'm playing through for the first time. I know, a bit late. But I gotta say, I'm enjoying it a ton so far. The motion tracker is a really nice addition to the horror genre. It's just enough of a radar to see where enemies are that it gives you enough time to hide or move, but not too cheat-y where you can breeze through the game with no problem. Like, a lot of Horror games rely entirely on visual or audio queues. Like, footsteps, or physically seeing someone walking around. For instance, in Outlast. Fairly early on, you have to go down in the cellar area to turn the power back on. It's essentially a round room, with doors on the side. The thing here is that there's an enemy walking around, reacting to noise and sight. So you're essentially dead as soon as he sees you. Well the problem, is that you only know where he is by seeing where he is. You have to stick your head out, and you have a 50/50 chance that he'll be looking towards you when you do. Meaning half the time that you're just trying to see where the guy is, it results in instant death. The entire section could have been made infinitely better if it had Isolation's motion tracker. As much fun as I'm having, I honestly don't want an Alien Isolation 2. I don't think they could do it justice. Alien Isolation worked because of it's setting, it's relience on the one alien (i guess there's 2 later, but it's only 1 for most of the game just like the original movie), and the fact that it could borrow heavily from the original movie. I don't really see how they'd make an AI2 without it being a let down, or turning into an action shooter(which no one wants). Personally, I think they'd be best off making a similar game to Isolation, but set in it's own world. More of a spiritual successor. Take as much as they can from Isolation, and reuse it in a completely new, unrelated game. Make a new monster/alien. Make it about different characters. Make it in it's own world. But take the gameplay, AI scripting, lighting engine, etc, etc, from Isolation.
This awesome game presents absolutely unique experience of horror and fear of imminent death if only one miscalculated step or action is taken. Developers, guys, you are outstanding! ❤
From the visuals to the sounds to the feel Alien Isolation is so faithful to this franchise and so good that in my mind it's canon. I hope the devs feel a sense of pride because the bar was high and they met it!
maybe 2k here (1600p) depending on how optimized the game is for PC, this game is one of those reasons why I just got my GTX 970, that gaming experience with with these visuals will be amazing! PC Masterace!
Ok but does it get too scary? I'm towards the end and just playing on a big 32" in 4K with headphones on is scary enough, I wonder if it becomes unbearable in VR?
@@melomaniakjm the first time it catches you is SOOO scary!! I've closed my eyes. But the atmosphere together with a headphone and the feeling to be "in" Sevestapool and not just sitting in front of your 4 k TV, is mindblowing! I started on 4k too but then i switched to VR. It is so different..... and easy to install by the way....
@19:00 I'm not gonna be able to play this. I mean. I'm buying it. Don't get me wrong. But, I'm not gonna be able to play this. Lmao, I have yet to watch a video of this game without my hands on face in some way.
It's kinda funny but I predicted that someone would bring up Colonial Marines again and sure enough the 2nd to the last question was yet another debacle about the game and people want to SOMEHOW take that failure of a game and make it automatically translate it to Alien Isolation which is absolutely ridiculous. Just because one game fails of a certain type doesn't mean that a new game of a NEW TYPE (being it's a survival horror) will automatically fail.
Yes, but it pays to be skeptical. People should have expected a massive fuckover like that beforehand, but it's good that they've started to now. One must never forget...or forgive.
When a game fails as badly as Colonial Marines did it's very hard to pull it back from that. But I think Creative Assembly has done that and much more.
I just bought this game, installing now, gonna play tomorrow. I have a question. Can you disable music? Like the stings and such? I'll play through normally first, but it could be fun to play without it, to make it more immersive.
Does the conductor of an orchestra really actually do anything? I’ve seen so many orchestras perform. No one ever even looks at him. They all just reading the music.
Looks great, but I wish they wouldn't talk about it as if their style of development is so unique :P "We looked at the source material and decided it should probably look like that" Just in a few thousand more words..
Lol every game developer has some "new flashy" way of making games, infinityward/activision/ the other shitty producer are notorious for over hyping their games talking about how "innovative" and "immersive" and "unique" the style is and all that shit. It's necessary as a selling point, but no one developer is truly unique and it makes them sound ridiculous (not necessarily as bad in this video but mainly in CoD videos and BF videos)
I really appreciate the work and effort put into this game when it comes to research, art design, and many other things but the experience was just boring. It was a huge let down. The animations were sub par and the game felt unfinished.
d3tach3d Animations and game mechanics certainly were flawed. Does it mean the entire game is a let down? No. I don't think so. One reason for that "unfinished" feeling you're talking about, is that it had to run smoothly on last-gen consoles. The sequel will hopefully integrate VR and focus on current-gen.
d3tach3d Can you describe a bad animation? I thought the alien moved 'beautifully'. In terms of being boring I agree there was a segment in the middle where the alien didn't appear that was less exciting and the end did drag on, but apart from that it wasn't in the least bit boring. It was tense and unnerving. Compared to all these boring 'sandy box' games littering the shops it was on the edge of your seat stuff.
I've played Dead Space 1 2 and 3. When I played the first one I thinked there were a lot of ideas from the first Alíen movie. I love so much the Dead Space trilogy and I've preordered this Alíen game and I know it will be awesome. Sorry for my English :D
What? Ya'll think I was born yesterday? I know Alien came before deadspace, does anyone not? However, I have to say that some of these new environments don't look very much like Alien, they look more like deadspace 2. They still look kinda lo-fi sci-fi, but just not as much as some other areas. Don't get me wrong, I think it's quite refreshing having areas that look different in the game instead of the same look all the way through, i'm just saying that some of the new stuff looks like deadspace.
It's funny because the developers have said that they want this game to be like a peer to Dead Space 2. Dead Space got a lot of it's stuff from Alien(s) and now the new Alien game is using one of the Dead Space games as inspiration haha. I love it. This looks so good I really can't wait.
***** I bought it, didn't played yet but so far reviews are good enough. so yeah I m surprised great turn over after Aliens: colonial marines. a game that tried to be like Call of Duty, failed miserably I'm a xenomorph fan myself, so please keep those face-huggers away from me.
I demand an Alien Isolation 2.
Imagine how awesome that would be!!!
@@DonSpork Very, this game clearly has legs as long as the central mechanics are maintained theres no reason why the game cannot be added to for more mass market appeal.
Central mechanics = alien invincible, no auto save, with stealth and brains primary being the primary play style
mass market appeal = who knows?
Would love to see it on LV-426 and Hadleys Hope during the infestation like Newt's Tale and River of Pain.
No, we don't. This masterpiece is complete. I fear the sequel will ruin everything like "Prometheus" did. Blast it into space!
A lot of people don't actually give the credit that this game deserves. I didn't see any other company making a game like this. It reminds me of the clocktower but on a whole different level.

Oh my god, PLEASE!
alien isolation 2 needs to hurry and come out so I can have another awesome game to play
these guys created a piece of art with that game, one of the very best games ever made, in my humble opinion. i wish they would do a second one
The sound of Alien Isolation is the best out of any game I've experienced. If I had to rate one part of the game the highest it would be the sound design, it's flat out amazing.
People are getting PTSD from Playing Alien Isolation...
They made a game so good, it's traumatizing kids/adults.
If this traumatizes people, it makes me even more excited for the new Silent Hills game
This is going to be a great date game.
I call BS. This game was a bore fest and repetitive. I dont know why everyone talks about how "scary" it is...

Following in the footsteps of Braben, Bell, Sawyer .. brit legends of videogames.
Alien: Isolation is a classic.

19:04 sold me on this game
It's almost here! ! ! ! The wait is almost over! ! ! !
I played this with the rift at EGX 2014, even more amazing and scary with the rift.
They did a really really really good job. I wish all gamecreators would work like this,
From the visuals to the sounds to the feel Alien Isolation is so faithful to this franchise and so good that in my mind it's canon.
I hope the devs feel a sense of pride because the bar was high and they met it!
How terrifying is Alien: Isolation?
Me:Yes
I had high hopes for this and I haven't been let down yet.
This game was amazing !
*IS* amazing, dude!
A Space Survival that has the atmosphere of the Movie: [2010: The Year We Make Contact] could be also interesting.
Awesome! Pre-ordered on PC, get to try out my new video card and 4k!
4k! Jealous.

Oh the amount of respect I have for them.
Absolutely psyched for the game!
By far the scariest game I've ever played. I can normally only handle an hour or 2 at a time.
Haha it’s so true. Once you hit that next save station it’s just like “well that’s enough for me!”
I remember playing this yesterday, dear fucking god

Excellent game!!! 10/10!
I'm playing this game at the moment and recording it for my channel, at the moment I am hidden in a cuboard because I am a scared baby
the alien has his own AI that make this piece of thit really scary

"Space Whale" haha
How did they create the "space whale" sound?
Flew to space, brought a microphone, recorded the space whales in natural environment and flew back. I guess there is a YT tutorial somewhere for that
What if the player gets too scared ?
Not our problem xDDDD

I cant wait for this game. Over playing Destiny already. Four more days
Карту бы скинули в фул скрин и сделали бы удобней.
the new environments look a lot like those in deadspace 2, especially with all the graffiti
Deadspace owes everything to the original Alien movies. So it's no surprise there's some cross-over.
