Just something I figured out to help with manipulating hose clamps don't bother about liking commenting or sharing I will never make it to enough use to get any money anyway
Yup. Dad always said that necessity is the mother of invention. It was necessary to get my clamps off and I did the same thing you did. I'm one of the "someone else" you spoke of. Only problem was that, like yours, they often slip when you are working with them too much. I thought of taking a triangular file and cut grooves on mine to make the clamp tips hold better. Haven't tired it yet. Next project.
If you're taking off an old hose, I would just use vise grips around the hose and try to rip it out, if it's at the intake housing side. Don't do that at the radiator side because the radiator is more delicate

My problem is that the wings are on the inaccessible side of the hose. :o(

I'm working on a 2004 Hyundai Elantra. I have a violent water leak in the back of manifold is hard to get that clamp of for a small black hose lol
