Great hunting rifle just as you have it set up with the peep sight. Load it with a good 180 gr. bullet at 2300 fps and it is perfectly adequate for any north American game, though it would not be my choice for big bears. A virtual ballistic twin to the .300 Savage (with 180 gr. bullets)
I love the Krag. It's such a unique rifle. The best part is how smooth the action is. It's just different with the box on the side. As long as the bullets are pointing the right direction it works.
because loose rounds may go everywhere when you are trying to load in the heat of the moment. Americans had a hard time using that against Filipinos and what's left of the Spaniards that had Spanish Mausers which made them adopt the M1903.
The Norwegian sport of Stangskyting actually developed a spring loaded loader for it. The US actually did experiment with a similar type of loading device but the rifle was soon replaced by the 1903 so there was no point. The bolt design was also outdated for modern full power ammunition. It literally had one locking lug. The other parts of the bolt act as safety lugs but it's not a particularly strong action.
@@wompsnwobbles I see… sorry for your loss. If only these old rifles could talk, as I’m sure this Krag and your grandfather shared quite a few stories together. Just remember though, YOU are it’s caretaker now. Take care of it and it will also share stories with your kids :) Edit: I deleted my other comment, I felt it was rather rude.
@Documentary Detective II There is a little tab that prevents cartridges from being cycled from the magazine. It was designed to keep the magazine as backup ammunition with the intention of the gun being fed by a single cartridge.
If you're taking off an old hose, I would just use vise grips around the hose and try to rip it out, if it's at the intake housing side. Don't do that at the radiator side because the radiator is more delicate
Yup. Dad always said that necessity is the mother of invention. It was necessary to get my clamps off and I did the same thing you did. I'm one of the "someone else" you spoke of. Only problem was that, like yours, they often slip when you are working with them too much. I thought of taking a triangular file and cut grooves on mine to make the clamp tips hold better. Haven't tired it yet. Next project.
yeah yeah I know someone lectured me on it at a different range later. that was the second time in my life even firing a pistol, and it never bit me i had my thumb low enough. I do it right now though
as simple as it may look, you saved my life

When you have to use an articulated rest to hit a paper target at 100 yards your not the brightest or sharpest shooter on the planet.

I really hope you werent the one ho sporterized the rifle

This is the rifle that Addicus uses to shoot the mad dog in "To Kill a Mockingbird ".
This is what the US Army used in the Spanish-American War and in the Philippines. Thanks for the demonstration.
but is kinda wack compared to the Spanish Mausers the Pinoys had
@@blackroberts6290 Nevertheless, those Pinoy rebels still lost the war.
@@reynaldoflores4522 Yeah it's such a shame, but it sure scared them a little they adopted the M1903.
For civilian it's much better than clip-loader
Thank you for demonstrating one of these. Even the book I read about it didn't make much since without actually seeing it operate.
Smooth.
I want one. How easy is it to find ammo for it?
Not common, but not impossible from what I hear.
Curious why this hasn't become a modern design of loading in more rifles
You can't use stripper clips with this kind of magazine, so it's slower to load
It’s inefficient by today’s standards.
@@ranaldbanzac4375 Norwegians made a speed loader for it.

That Krag… I’ve only ever seen one exactly like it. And I just traded it in. What was the serial number? Maybe it’s the same one
This was my grandfather's before he died. It's been in the family for at least 40 years in Pennsylvania.

The Krag has to be the smoothest cycling bolt action I have ever shot
YES...that is what I was going to say.
you should try a MAS36
It also has a magazine cut-off...

I'm working on a 2004 Hyundai Elantra. I have a violent water leak in the back of manifold is hard to get that clamp of for a small black hose lol
Ohh dammmm. Thank you☺️😊😄😄😄😄😄
My problem is that the wings are on the inaccessible side of the hose. :o(

@@qbconnect Thanks. My issue is the hose on pcv valve. I just bought some new vise grips so I'll see how that works out Thanks again

Thank you 😁
Easiest hack yet that I've found how to get that clamp loose & back in place in the fastest way?
I'v had mine for years... enjoy !
