These two guys are the only bg3 'builders' I actually watch. They are both intelligent, articulate and informative. Further, they don't use clickbait titles, they're thoughtful, and they don't spend the first 15 minutes pleasuring themselves to the sound of their own voices while saying absolutely nothing important. Oh, and neither are excessively addicted to the word "insane."
I really think your builds are the only reason I’m still playing BG3. I just got through my first honor mode play through and thought for sure I’d be done for a while but these fun builds keep making me go back and try something new.
I was completely new to DnD and your builds helped me tremendously in understanding the mechanics of the game. One of my favorite combos when using a ranger: 1. Get the Gloves of Power. 2. Get the Brand of the Absolute on my ranger. 3. Respect to Hunter at lv 11. The fact that you can apply Bane as a ranged AoE before anyone else takes their turn is HUGE!
I have found all your videos extremely helpful in "vamping up" my characters abilities. I typically play Ranger or Rogue characters, so the videos for spellcasters were particularly helpful, since I am less familiar with those classes. I am currently near the end of my first run-through (about to face the Elder Netherbrain) and my main character is a Gloomstalker Ranger who has proven to be a powerhouse. He and Karlach have almost singlehandedly won the majority of the battles, sometimes with help from Astarion whom I redid as a Rogue/Ranger assassin based on one of your other tutorials. I was particularly pleased after watching this particular tutorial, that aside from a few minor differences, my Ranger build was almost 100% identical to what you suggested, which is probably why he has been such a badass! Thanks for the videos, and keep them coming!
I had a lot of fun in my last play through as a ranger using volley to stack reverb and some thunder with drakethroat glaive, hellrider long bow or bow of banshee and then fear is long range aoe without any spell slots at level 11 hunter
Also one can trigger martial exertion while having shield of thralls on to 1. mitigate the damage taken and 2. potentially stun enemies in a pretty decent range around the character.
re: Titan String vs. Deadshot: I wonder if anyone's really crunched the numbers, b/c in experience, it seems like Titan String will ONLY do more average damage with Cloud Giant strength over the course of multiple battles. With any lesser strength buff like Hill Giant, the bonus to damage seems offset by Deadshot's 1 higher base damage, higher chance to hit, and higher chance to crit! Then add in the fact you could run Elixir of Bloodlust instead of a strength elixir...
replied but deleted it because I did the math wrong! Generally though I think the titanstring is better in the early game, but as you add more damage (and your proficiency bonus increases) the deadshot gets correspondingly better
Im trying to beat honor mode now. on attempt 4 and didn’t get much further than the owl bear fight fight because of stupid mistakes… these builds are really useful to make strong parties and enjoy the game so thanks
IIRC, Spike growth sprouts thorns and briars out of the ground, but I can see why you'd think it was MADE of the ground, i don't think it explicitly says its ground or plants, you get to pick in your head
A fun lil build I made was a 6 ranger and 6 tempest sorcerer black dragonborn! Resistance to fire, cold, acid, lightning, and thunder! An extra attack, and a bevy of spell slots for buffs! Haven't tried it yet lol but it seems fun
Hello!! Would you consider doing a “Damage subclass tier list”? Like, in the subclass tier list rogues were voted down (and I agree) because they’re a damage class that doesn’t do much damage, but what if damage was the only point of view, how would the subclasses be ranked?
So I was fighting Myrkul and got absolutely clapped but managed to get him to like 50 hp. Astarion with this build on level 8 was SHREDDING Myrkul's hp and did more than half overall damage to him than the rest of my party.
I'm wondering if for mono Ranger, if Hunter is a better pick due to the power of the Volley ability you get at level 11 (which you eluded to at the start of the video). I've always thought it was more effective than Stalkers Flurry as having such high Dex and hit chance in general makes this ability seem kind of redundant a lot of the time vs a big AOE attack of arrows. Agree with you saying prior to this Hunter is quite weak, so maybe a respec at L11 to Hunter from Gloom might be quite nice :)
I think you are at in your thought processes where I was regarding creating a Sorc. And that is we like to be different in our approaches so I chose wild magic all the time knowing it was not the strongest choice. It’s the same with Ranger Bloomer is hands-down. The best choice but brother if you feel like playing Hunter then go for it in the end it’s a game meant to be enjoyed Thoroughly good luck with it man
Ive found that 1 Life Cleric and 11 Land Druid makes one hell of a fun main character with access to decent conversation skills and mechanically very powerful
@@SkyNinja759 I do not do that, personally, as it feels exploitive, but the rest of the character is 10/10, My shadowheart tends to end up with moonbeam
The only knock I have against rangers is the disadvantage of playing them as a Main. Cha matters a lot for a main. Low Cha sucks, even if you have a high Cha companion b/c a lot of important conversations default to the Main. Otherwise rangers are great. A 12 Cha with Persuasion skill is good enough, but that comes at a real cost to a ranger build.
Also, as far as race goes do not sleep on Githyanki. They make amazing Gloomstalkers b/c their main disadvantage as archers is lack of Darksight, but Gloomstalkers get superior darkvision at level 3. And with their astral knowledge ability you can choose Cha and gain proficiency in all dialogue skills to help with your low Cha. And in top of that they get Misty Step and Enhanced Leap. They are absolutely top notch.
Watching this as therapy bc good chance I'm gonna lose against myrkul again using the highest damage party build you have I'm being dishonorable with my hm run bc it was going so damn well that when everyone died against myrkul I unplugged my ps5 to reset the fight basically it worked when I accidentally killed the hag earlier in my run so now I'm using it to try and save myself from my lack of preparation bc I underestimated how hard this fight is and I'll either beat him or spend the next 12hrs trying before I decide to restart Edit: came back to say I managed it using scratch was the way to go I messed up the sneak attack so no dialog to skip the first phase but to be safe I laid down a wall of fire to block 2 meshes and hurt myrkul had astarion cast spike growth to lock down even more area damage for necromites that I never gave a chance to spawn after I wrecked the first ones in round 1 then once I eventually realized wyll never joined the fight I had him cast hunger of hadar on top of the spike growth the remaining path was blocked by karlach who sat at the bottom of it to heal and used her attack to run up smack him and run away according to my combat log phase 1 and 2 were finished by combat round 5 and not 1 necromite ever got a chance to attack or move or exist for that matter
My honour modes always end because I lose at something difficult like ketheric and then I die making a mistake trying to catch up with my last run and not being patient or preparing
I beat Myrkul with Paladin and the hammer that prevents it from healing. It was surprisingly easy when I had warding bond to resist all damage too. Aylin didn't even help because Myrkul downed her and she couldn't be healed.
Like I specifically explain in the video, this is the highest you can get 3 attributes, which are the only ones we care about. If it were possible to start with 3 16s we would, but it's not. If you have a suggestion for a legal attribute split that would be better though, feel free! In general you will also get better results with your suggestions if you try making them politely.
Would it be beneficial for an Arcane trickster build to dip 2 levels into ranger for Hunter's Mark, Ensnaring Strike and bow fighting style? Just wondering, bc those are very nice abilities and I really don't need 3 wisdom characters in my party ( Druid, Cleric and a Paladin/Warlock)
Dude, i am addicted to your build guides. They're so well done. You and Italian Spartacus have done some of the most amazing videos on this game.

Still surprised rangers don't get the spell melf acid arrow
Haha, true!
Melf was a wizard, they don't like to share
The arrow isn't phisical, it's an acid spit
I really think your builds are the only reason I’m still playing BG3. I just got through my first honor mode play through and thought for sure I’d be done for a while but these fun builds keep making me go back and try something new.
Totally agree with your first sentence
Thanks so much!
I have learned so much from you. It has really heightened my confidence and enjoyment.
Thanks Ceph
I’d try a solo honor play through, it’s infuriatingly hard at times and when you lose your run at the end of act 2 you will rage but it’s fun
Was super eager to see this one updated!!
Nice, glad to hear it!
My dudes got the best guides on YT. Extremely informative. Much appreciated 👍
Thanks very much - appreciate the kind words!

Love the way you just break it down simply. From someone that just can’t make his mind up on a build I appreciate the simplicity. Subbeddddd😎
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed - welcome!

I watch pretty much every single one of your bg3 videos and I don't think I've ever left a comment - but tysm for these!
I had no clue how to build Minsc, and your ranger guide made him impossible to leave at camp! Fantastic and fun. Thanks! 🥲
Thanks so much for the support! Glad you're enjoying the build - good luck with the run!
dude i was literally watching the old one yesterday this is perfect
Haha, perfect timing!
I am so invested in your videos, they really help me optimize my team!
Thanks!
Let's goooo I'm so ready for this ranger update 😁✨️
They left Minsc for last because he is so powerful
Love the guides, finished my first Honour with a party based on your builds 👍 hope for the best archer update
Nice, congratulations! That video has an error in it I think so I should definitely update it
These guides are great, thanks!

Very useful thanks.
*goes for Str build Ranger Knight*
Finally found some Ranger love, i've been starving! Thanks for this, instant sub
Love the soothing narration
Love the tech of creating ice surfaces from cold damage bows, it sounds really funny.

@@CephalopocalypseI’d submit that your analysis tracks with the fact that you get the titanstring in act one and the deadshot in act three.
Appreciate your content and the updates. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your content after patch 7!
This was great, man. Just what I needed to move an older character forward. Cheers.
Thanks very much!

As always, another great video
Thanks very much!
I would love to see some multiclass options for the ranger! :)
in the description of spikegrowth it says its shaped out of the ground. You said its plants? Dunno maybe its a BG3 5e difference?
IIRC, Spike growth sprouts thorns and briars out of the ground, but I can see why you'd think it was MADE of the ground, i don't think it explicitly says its ground or plants, you get to pick in your head
You're right, they changed the description in bg3 to just spikes! In tabletop it's specifically thorns and nettles - interesting change
With all those element resistances you could make a blue dragonborn ranger and get lightning resistance too XD
A fun lil build I made was a 6 ranger and 6 tempest sorcerer black dragonborn! Resistance to fire, cold, acid, lightning, and thunder! An extra attack, and a bevy of spell slots for buffs! Haven't tried it yet lol but it seems fun

Gnomes and halflings have disadvantage at using longbows, no?
My 2 weapon fighting stopped working for melee weapons on my bard for some reason.
longtime watcher, first time commenter. two requests: 1) illithid powers tierlist 2) throw/push/telekinesis build that doesn’t use TB
So I was fighting Myrkul and got absolutely clapped but managed to get him to like 50 hp. Astarion with this build on level 8 was SHREDDING Myrkul's hp and did more than half overall damage to him than the rest of my party.

Guys what about this very build but using a double crossbow?
Does that mean your other archer builds are also outdated?
Great breakdown, what would your stat attribution be for a char making most of the interactions and talking? Still keep CHA at 8?

Will this be good for minthara?
Sure!
I like your class guides, but it would be really nice if you could include some gameplay of the class each time :) Thanks!
Honestly, RPing Minsc and gimping his strength feels so wrong to me...
That's why I repeatedly say in the video to go check out my lore-friendly build guide if you want a minsc build that focuses more on his character ;)
What are the changes to stealth archers? I can’t find them explicitly on from google.
hell yeah
What about end game at level 99? Do you have a build for that? I want to just grind and get overpowered before I start the story line.
Can’t tell if this a joke or serious
The lvl cap is 12
TOP, BARD BOW PLS
🔥🔥🔥
5 Gloomstalker, 3 Swords Bard, 1 War Cleric, 3 Battlemaster Fighter. Kill everything.. rest, repeat.
This is one of the only comments on this video.
Creators who set ability scores in odd numbers is ridiculous. It's better to points to other to get more saves and checks.

Your videos are ridiculously over explained. No reason why this build requires 45 minutes of explaining.
nah
