Next time you go to Messina. Make sure to be outside the cathedral (Duomo) at least 5 minutes before 12pm. Every day At 12pm exactly the bells from the 'Campanile' will go off reproducing a little show. It is really unique, this happens just in two cities in all of Europe.

I am having trouble finding out which port and ferry to depart Calabria. I would like to arrive where you did, walk a bit, and get a taxi to Taormina. Not sure if we should depart Calabria at RC or VSG port , and Caronte or Blue Jet?

He could've taken a shorter route by going up to Piazza Basico where the Falconieri Fountain is located. And from there it's a fairly short walk up to the Cristo Re sanctuary
