hivemind is the wrong term i think, they are individuals, but they are all linked to a sort of network, kind of like a psychic/ telekinetic network, but not really, it is based on the energy they control, so maybe more like an energy signal, that they call the vortessence, but it is not full telepathy, because they still communicate with each other somewhat verbally, even making loud calls to each other over long distances.
