I surfed with Jack in West Oz when he was 9 year old. I was blown away at his surfing skills. I told him he would be world champ one day if he kept it up.

There’s definitely a reason. Either it’s the contract they have with ESPN (tho that might only have been for Pipe) or there was a technical issue. They’re not in a position to intentionally obstruct viewership. They lose millions annually, even in good years.

The WSL should have to justify their scoring. Molly had 1 turn in the semis that scored a 9.67 (it was a sick turn). But, a near perfect score for 1 turn??? A solid 7. Meanwhile, Robson in the finals has turns and gets barreled for a score of a 9.87. How are these 2 nearly identical? I saw a lot of sketchy scorin-some favoritism for the local boy JJF who is a favorite of mine. The WSL needs to score the men and the women the same. Everyone sees it but everyone is fearful of saying something because of the alphabet ppl. And the fact that the WSL supports men dressing like women and playing in women’s sports (Soo when Italo or some other badass gets mad enough at the WSL for getting screwed over n over and decides to get revenge by surfin in the women’s league-blame the WSL because Italo will win every heat for the next 72 years-blame the WSL. And being that he will be scored like a women-he will only receive perfect 10’s from every judge in every heat for the next 72 years. I got sidetracked. Score the women exactly how you score the men. We will have much more respect for the WSL.
IMO Molly’s score was justified, next-level critical surfing in a very large wave of consequence - watch the slo-no. However Jack’s wave was a perfect 10 every day - so he was underscored (slightly)

I watch all the big surf comps and a lot of times-instead of just being honest and saying the truth-that this a heat is bad or not a lot of action-the commentators find great things to say about the female surfers even when it’s a shite heat. The ufc does the same thing. Some of those women are true badass and some aren’t.

Considering the scale had already been set by Jacks first wave, both of Kanoas’ wave were definitely over scored.
