Nice plants Claire!! Astrophytums used to be so common, and you could buy them all the time. Seems now days they are hard to find unless you order them. Just like cephalocereus senilis, used to see them all the time!!! Now they are like the Astrophytum, very hard to find!! Bought my last senilis from a flower shop at the lake of the Ozarks 30 years ago!! Haven't seen any since!! Very curious how these plants were so common, andnow hard to find. You astro collection is awesome!!! Thanks for sharing Claire!!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌺🌿🌻🪴🌹🏵🌳🌷🌴😃👍

Thanks so much for watching Clyde! 🙂🌵☀️🏜 It's funny, I only see the Astrophytum in DIY stores or supermarkets/grocery stores.
I rarely find them in my local garden centre, or like you said, you have to order them online, even then they're often out of stock and difficult to find sellers.
So whenever I see any every year, I pick them up, even if they are small, I like to have as many as I can get 😄
I actually see quite a few of the old man type cactus in the UK, which are lovely! I find them to be very easy to care for. It's a shame you cannot get hold of more where you're located, It's amazing how long you've had your specimens! Have a great day, happy growing to you Clyde! 🌵☀️👋☀️🌵🙂

Yaaaay new video 😁 Two lovely little additions, Claire. And they seem to be doing well despite mealybug getting onto one, pesky things! All your other Astros are looking very nice. I have one Astro that developed similar brown patches on it but didn’t seem to spread or get any worse, but not sure what causes it. Thank you for sharing with us as always, have a wonderful day and weekend from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜

Finally uploaded a video 🤯😄 those brown patches are annoying 🙄 it's always the more unusual or special cactus that seem to get targeted by bugs etc 🤦‍♀️ have a great afternoon and evening to you and Edith 🌞🏜🌅🌵

Woohoo! A new video! We missed you, Claire! Love seeing your collection of Astrophytums. I need to have a senile. I don’t have that. 😆 The brown patches on your grafted A. fukuryu, I believe are rust fungus. Very common in Astros esp in a relatively high humidity environment. It can spread too so treatment with a contact and systemic fungicide is needed. I battle with that issue too as my humidity is at least 70% daily. As for the mealies, a systemic solution is necessary too for peace of mind. 😊 Thank you for sharing with us. 🌸🌼🌺💚

@@edithcoliagrandis Thanks so much for watching Edith 👋😁🌵 Thanks for the information about the rust fungus, it's weird it's just that cactus, but cactus like to try our patience 😆 will give your treatment a go.
Oh yes.. I've already been using a systemic on the mealy bugs, switched over to that so hopefully it's helping 👍🏻

Nice collection I enjoyed seeing those species. I re looked at some cacti I had outside for years, they are neglected most of the time. I recently re potted some of the bigger ones on from the large clusters . When I thought about it, some of them must be over 20 years old. I wore welding gloves and still got some spines in my hands. Even though this old, the larger ones are about tennis ball size. They often flower in summer. They are not labelled. One looks like a type of spiny light green Mammillaria that flowers pink, Another one I think is a crown cactus it has big red flowers in summer. I have a re kindled interest and recently purchased an Astrophytum like the green one you re potted in this video. I'm growing some LW Williamsii from seeds with some Golden Barrel cactus seeds. They are very slowly growing under a light with a heat matt. I remember seeing Bishop cap cactus for sale over the years at the local garden sections.

I find all myrostigma types actually love water. They have no tap root and lots of small feeder roots which is probs why

Thanks so much for watching, Gabrielle!😁🌵👍🏻☀️ I do love Astrophytums 🤩 Oh no... its a shame to hear you have lost some plants, but I did lose an old plant after the last winter dormancy, one of my nice ones, which was a real shame, sometimes these things just happen, but we keep going!😄🌟🌵
