There are so many people who dont see what this movie is about. It´s all about the Guitar! And not about who is the best Player in the world. They took these three guys, because their style is so different, so that everybody can see what you can get out of this instrument. And besides that they all created great music and for me it does not matter who is more "legend" : ) in my opinion, this word lost it´s meaning completly and is far away from any traditional definition. Enjoy the music. Peace!
I agree that the Edge initially seemed like a strange choice but he DID define a sound and U2 are an enormously successful group, influencing a lot of people. They could have asked Eddie Van Halen and numerous others but I actually thought the Edge was an interesting choice after watching the film. It's not just the proficiency on the guitar but the story behind their 'relationship' with it that is the key factor in this documentary. This may be lost on a lot of people though.
IF you watch the documentary - Jimmy page and Jack White discuss effects, guitar chords, musical progressions, and polyrhythms and the entire time "The Edge" is completely fucking dumbfounded because all hes capable of is turning up the echo and reverb up on his amp.
@@CybrosisEvolved What utter bullshit. Edge revolutionised the use of effects in guitar music, pioneered delay polyrhythms in popular music using stereo delays with dotted notes against whole notes (try composing this way and tell me how ‘easy’ it is) and has written some of the most beautiful progressions ever. This is just the tired argument that effects aren’t playing, whereas effects have always been central to the electric guitar and made most of what your hear from guitar possible. You are always playing effects with electric guitar, even if it’s just the breakup of your amp.
The film is not about "Who is the best". I think that there was a great chemical between them while making the film. You can feel it when you watch it. Of course there is a lot of great guitar players out there but the film works just fine. 10 out of 10 for me
@Kfarineau Have you ever played on instrument? Have you ever played on electric guitar? So try to do it like Edge, I'm sure it will be a huge problem... Being a guitarist is also being a composer, musician, and the best way of playing music is to LISTEN and trying to join to the other instruments... Fast solos are hard to play but do they bring anything new?
Funny thing about being a guitar player (any player?) You have to keep picking it up to see what you can do...what will come out of it. Seems like there are two approaches you can take. One is to get technical and theoretical (the rules of music). The other way (probably the superior way) is to let yourself go and see what kind of music comes out. (of course, the "rules" will be in there somewhere). The film was only "so-so" but did show players finding their music through much perserverance.
Playing a guitar while watching this movie is so much fun. This movie is also like a date between Jack White and Jimmy Page, The Edge is just there watching awkwardly.
@wheresmyphonebooth what do you mean by all effects? Making music is all about producing effects, talent is knowing how to use it. As simple and cultural as that!
I personally believe that all three of these men a legends. Obviously we can rank them in order of whose better, but I'm not going to do that. I already know my opinion will be different from everyone else.
@TheZeppelinfan100 exactly where are you getting these statistics? Also just because the edge came first doesnt make him better, I dont understand why you would think that
@wheresmyphonebooth - I just watched this DVD and have the exact same opinion. It looked like The Edge was in a state of shock when he was seeing what White & Page were doing.
@xx2n23 i agree with you for the edge and for jimmy page...not that he saved the movie but him, and jack white saved it. You are obviously not a guitar player...saying he needs a change of wardrobe and he needs to get a tan....Jack White is a great guitar player...and he has one of the best tones out there. He is a great blues player and has invented so many classic riffs.....you really need to rethink your position
@wheresmyphonebooth Do you play guitar? If you even strum just a little like I do, then you'd realize that The Edge couldn't do jack with the effects if he didn't have loads of talent.
@DesertDiegel a simple google search would have answered your question. The first result was that amazon has it on dvd. It's also currently playing on the movie network in Canada which is where I just saw it.
Hi everybody! Does anyone know the title of the first music we can hear in the trailer (just after Jack White playing the string in his ranch)? For those who have seen the movie it's the music of the opening credits. Thanks a lot.
@Kfarineau Why do you think I don't like Led Zeppelin or White Stripes? My favourites bands, I think... By the way, Jack did a cover of Love Is Blindness - it must mean something, don't you think so?
@astronoomy I've played electric guitar as well as some other instruments in a symphonic band ( I'm not very good at the guitar i must admit). However it's obvious that you don't really listen to led zeppelin or any of the bands jack white was in. They were far more than fast solo's my friend. Sure the edge introduces new things, but as the modern music industry has shown, new isn't always better. Also jimmy page composed half of led zeppelins stuff, andwhite wrote the stripes music
@Kfarineau im a U2 fan and i agree on the part when u said he isnt as talented as jack and jimmy, put i still like U2 for their sound and awsome voice bono has.
Edge has a huge role in U2's sound. Unlike many guitarists who focuses on shredding and obsessing over solos, Edge focused on minimalism and building an atmosphere not stealing the spotlight.
No matter how successful or how much money we’ve made in our lives we’re all just fanboys. Did you see Edge and Jack White’s face when they met him. It had “holy shit, dude that’s fucking Jimmy Page” written all over it. No different from any one of us lol
i really liked the movie but who the hell mixed the sound for this ? music beeing loud is a good thing for me but the spoken words are waaay too quiet sometimes
Late to party here but Slash wouldn't have been much different than the other two. While guitarists like him were out shredding each other, Edge was looking for a different way. Less is more.
@TheZeppelinfan100 first of all rolling stone has a biased opinion ( as do you and I) so nothing they say should ever even begin to be taken as solid fact. 2nd of all on that same list they put jerry garcia behind the edge at 46 so in no way would i take that list seriously ( i mean really? cmon) and on another rolling stone list of top 100 guitarists by David fricke jack was put ahead at 17 while the edge was 24.
Why the hell is The Edge in this movie?? Is he the most representative rock guitarist of the 80's?? Can we make a list of the other posible candidates?
IF you watch the documentary - Jimmy page and Jack White discuss effects, guitar chords, musical progressions, and polyrhythms and the entire time "The Edge" is completely fucking dumbfounded because all hes capable of is turning up the echo and reverb up on his amp.
Ive seen this movie 4 times and i still get chills and get choked up whenever i watch it. Such an inspiring movie :)
I knew Jack White, but this movie made me fall in love with him and his music!
This is one of the best musical doc i've ever seen!
But they had to ruin it by including the edge lol

Its about rock n roll snobbery
L'Edge-end
It's about Guitars but there is no question about who is the best.
ZOSO.
I've watched this so many times. It's INCREDIBLE.
Great idea!! Seen it twice. We love these guys. We love Jimmy most of all...
I just finished watching this and absolutely loved it!
Tom Morello, Slash and Thurston Moore for It Might Get Loud 2

Wise trailer edit. This movie is put together with thought. Good movie to see twice, I've found.
While watching the trailer and I heard Blue Orchid a huge smile came across my face.. I'm so watching this movie.
Whos here in 2021?
Now this is what you call music!!
BEST musical doc I've seen EVER.

Well we know who the best is
The Edge might not be a virtuosic player, but how he plays to fit U2's songs is genius. I think of Johnny Marr as doing a similar thing.
@Kfarineau

What about sound city ?
OH MY GOD WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE JACK WHITE IS A GOD AND A FREAKIN' GENIUS AND WITH JIMMY PAGE JUST NAH MAN I NEED TO WATCH THIS
No need for me to see this in the theater. I already have it on Blu-ray.
@wheresmyphonebooth what do you mean by all effects? Making music is all about producing effects, talent is knowing how to use it. As simple and cultural as that!
Going to watch this movie tonight
You know when Jack says "Who needs to buy a guitar"? well you need to buy an amp lol
Yeah, and coming from Jack who mods the hell out of his guitars, I would say you, Jack. Lol
@wheresmyphonebooth i agree in the way you've rated them, but i think the edge is the way he uses the effects is awesome,
Spectacular 👍
love this movie

U2 is the Greatest Rock Band all of time
JIMMY!!!! :DDDDD
White Stripes - Blue Orchid
@wheresmyphonebooth
Page is undoubtedly the best of the bunch, but all three of them are standout musicians from their respective eras.
@TheZeppelinfan100 exactly where are you getting these statistics? Also just because the edge came first doesnt make him better, I dont understand why you would think that
Jimmy Page is so underrated.
underrated? he is often named in the top 5 top 3 best guitar player ever.
and is the guitarist of one of the most famous rock band ever

@crazyman9711 exactly. not saying u2 isn't good. they actually have a pretty cool sound
Mayer, Trucks and Bonamassa for part 2

0:25 what song is that?
❌3 TOTAL LEGENDS with unparalleled guitar knowledge.
Hearing them reminisce is sooo COOL🎶👽🎶!!
Jack learning upholstery✅but he shouldn’t 🚭
Finishing with them singing The Weight was 🍒 on top!
I was watching a video of Keith Richards and he was describing that he doesn't use foot to get the Rolling Stones sound
It looks like Jack White is Jimmy Page`s son and The Edge is the Cousin that you also let try to play the game.
What song does Jimmy's guitar solo come from (at the beginning of the movie)? I'm dying to find that in mp3 form.
@wheresmyphonebooth Do you play guitar? If you even strum just a little like I do, then you'd realize that The Edge couldn't do jack with the effects if he didn't have loads of talent.
Who are the 17 Jackasses that 👎? This is fantastic! 🤘🤘
does anyone know the name of the song thats being played from 0:25 to 0:50 ?
Awesome!!!
Two legends. And Jack White.
People who don't know who Jimmy Page is are dead to me, Jack white is amazing and should get regognized
@111cogjix111 It's blue orchid by the white stripes. kickass tune.

Blue Orchard by The White Stripes
Are you still playing?
jsut saw this and it is amazing!
What are they playin at 0:58 ?
That looks incrediblr
Guitar, that's the star of this show. Not Zeppelin, not the stripes, and not U2 the fucking guitar, thats where the magic lives.
Quem gosta e entende de música e guitarra entende o filme, quem não sabe nenhum dos dois, pensa que é uma competição.
