Buddy, you're a real legend because you review good, fascinating game and don't chase the trends. I trust your opinions completely and always support developers and games you suggest. Keep the videos coming !
Agreed.
I mean, he usually reviews trending games, just not AAA ones. This one, for instance, was pretty large recently due to the end of the early access... They even got promoted on GoG front page xD
Can't wait for The Day Before review coming soon! 🤣
@@Nostromo2144 we expect a The Day Before 100% platinum trophy 200 hr playthrough and nothing less.
@@PatrickMartinez1 🤣🤣🤣 (don't tempt him! you know what he's like ;)
Heyo, VA for some characters here! Thanks for covering Blood West (again, right?)! Glad you enjoyed yourself and hope the people who give it a shot enjoy it too!
Cheers!
Honestly, I would pick great gameplay and bad story over a great story and bad gameplay 100% of the time, and this game is the first one that really was able to match the sense of exploration and danger that the original Thief games were able to produce.
Loved this game. It really felt like an oldschool experience and I loved the different areas with all the little secrets everywhere. It really rewarded exploration. I hope it gets a sequel or expansions where the gunslinger is a wandering soul who goes about hunting evil wherever it pops up in different kinds of settings.
DEV is working on dlc =)
I literally purchased like 12 games due to these 100% reviews!😊
Thanks for reviewing this! I am interested playing this and waiting for someone to review this.
Hell yeah! I love this game so much and I never expected to see it on your channel lol
Love that you include deck compat section my man
🐐 reviewer, my new favorite. Enjoy the holidays sir!
Thanks man, I think I'll buy it now! I wasn't sure if the gameplay would offer enough variety to be interesting to me, but it sounds like it does now!
Honestly I had absolutely no expectations about this game, its pretty raw and barebone, but the rewarding exploration and the atmosphere are so amazingly done in the glorious spirit of old school classics such as Daggerfall. So I've been binge playing it for last two days, currently at the chapter 2, and having absolute blast.
I hope more interesting gameplay mechanics will be added in the future chapters.
This game is fantastic. I loved it when only one chapter was done in EA, and I love it even more in 1.0! Really hope they keep expanding this IP.
Just what I needed to start my morning at work, thanks!
Thanks for the review. This will be next on my list after Rogue Trader, I think.
Im def picking this one up. Weirdly i decided to pick up weird west today so ill play some blood west after
Thanks for the review, would have liked for you to go more in-depth in terms of the game's stealth system, as I noticed not too many shadows and couldn't really tell if sound has a big part in how the stealth in the game plays. The game looks good though.
The game doesn't use shadows or light. Basically the closer you are to an enemy, the faster they will see or hear you. You have a meter that fills up by sound or sight, and staying still and out of sight makes the meter go down. When it's full, the enemy notices you and attacks, and usually a few other ones nearby. It's a pretty light system, but it works well imo.
@@kennethproseus3340 thank you!
It is a nice Stalker game, i loved the balance they made with uniques and relics. I think it is a bit short in content and length, but it is fine as is.
Man, I've been watching your reviews for quite a while now. I want to say that i really appreciate your smaller reviews now a lot more, you keep showing us gems. This seems like a short and sweet game to play after bg3, cyberpunk and rogue trader.
hello Mortismal Happy Christmas
The trend of supernatural themed western indies the last few years is something i can't explain at all but at least it's a cool concept
I haven't played it for a while but since they have controller support now I might check it out (at least they said the full release would)
Goat human and channel
Currently going trough chapter 2 and it's really such a cool game. My only complain is only 2 weapons in quickslot but i can understand its part of the inventory management. I do wish you have 1 more slot for knifes.
For example
slot 1: big weapons like rifle, shotgun, bows, axes.
Slot 2: side arms like pistols and maybe knifes and sawed off shotgun
Slot 3: dagger/knifes only.
ya agreed this would be great. annoying to have to switch my knife in and out, it breaks the flow of gameplay. this would be a great perk to add to the game
Aw man. I was really hoping the story would be great. It had a nice premise.
Thanks Mort!
This game is almost perfect, could really use a block button for your melee weapon, wish it had a more realistic Thief-like detection system. Awesome shooting thought, can be quite tense at times. Pretty cool to hear Stephen Russell voice the main character (he is Garrett from the Thief games)
I like this. Thank you
Good show sir
Wow perfect timing I was just thinking about picking this up
Hey I just want to say how much I love your style. Your reviews are fun to watch even if I’m not gonna play the game. Your reviews can be critical but they’re never mean, and I appreciate that so much. Gaming is something that I enjoy as much at 40 as I did at 4 , and I will until I die. It means so much to see such high quality content from someone who sees the hobby with as much love as I do, and always shows respect for the people who make these amazing experiences.
This sounds like a game I could get into
Since you reviewed Sea of Stars and Chained Echoes: any chances to see you making at least impression videos of Chrono Trigger or the Star Ocean Second Story remake? Just curious since I imagine you might enjoy those games too. 🙂
Not anytime soon, but maybe
Immersive yeeeehaw!
I play on steam deck, fun fact It runs really well docked on my 1920x1800 monitor. Great game, what sold me was the setting and the art style.
I just bought this, and it’s fun, and tricky
The looking fuel of this game reminds me of the old Hexen/Heretic games.
Thank you for reviewing this and highlighting it! This game is the closest gameplay feel/vibe to resident evil 4 for me. Just the way you encounter the enemies, the different approaches, man its awesome.
Does anyone have any good recommendations like this? I'd love to hear them, I'm keeping an eye on Gloomwood.
Wow this is awesome. I had no idea the game was stealth based. Thought it was just a boomer shooter
It's excellent, definitely brings the Thief vibes, it even has Stephen Russell (of Garrett fame) voicing the protagonist.
The fist thing game teaches you is stealth.
At first you have little ammo or money so you're rly incentivized to sneak. Once you start encountering weapon wielding enemies (which drop ammo) game picks up considerably.
Although so far (ch1/3) most enemies tend to rush you down or close the distance to take shots at you.
Game is currently on 30% sale. At that price it's a steal.
Is this game a bloody good time? Let’s find out
Thanks for the video. Not a game, but E3 has been permanently cancelled. It would be nice if you covered it. Onward to 300k. All glory to the algorithm.
I'm so curious, as a newer creator, how do you upload almost every single day? Do you have a team?
Ive made videos on the subject, but no its just me and several years of practice and streamlining things
@@MortismalGaming thanks for the reply, impressive work ⚔️
Was just playing swamp level, I fell thru the ground!!!
Ok, I had tp home skull on me, but if a person would ran into that situation without that, goodbye 10-15 hrs save! Cz I was just flying down for like a minute until I remembered about my tp skull.
So it's not completely flawless on gamebreaking bugs.
But I really enjoy the game so far, I love stealth, my friend loves fps, but we both enjoy the game even playing completely different styles. Think that's really cool.
Next time you review a horror themed stealth game please include some sound from the game.
I looked at the ending. It feels like it's setting up a potential sequel. It's also narrated in future tense, by an unreliable narrator. So not really a bad ending, but a cliffhanger.
👌
Gronk!
I like the game but it needs a difficulty level and better xp as well a few other tweaks
Stealthing with shotguns?
The ending kill me man. I hope we get a second game where we try to get back what is our. Maybe even a little more about our main character. Hell I wouldn't care if its just a aimless fight by our undead with help of other souls and maybe even the angels
I was kind of hoping it was a spinoff of Hard West.
Woo! More games!
You are Jericho Cross. Gunslinger. Renegade. Outlaw. Tonight your life will end... and your legend will begin.
I can't help but compare every paranormal western game to Darkwatch. Really wish someone would pick it up and continue the series.
100% it a few days ago as well, the game was pretty amazing. The magical weapons were really fun. The gameplay, graphics and rare music are really fantastic.
Even with a map, I was often lost all along in those 3 chapters, going back and forth to places wondering if I missed anything.
But indeed, I found the story lacking... Especially after saving Annabelle, nothing much happens... The ending doesn't even mention her or the relation your friend has with the boo hags.
Annabelle could have been made more beautiful too. It's pretty sad 'cause I really enjoyed how the romance started to flourish between your character and her.
The ending has a really cool song though (almost looked like Lemmy was back but it wasn't Motorhead) but that never ending story like the "the mist" of Stephen King is not really satisfying. Maybe for a sequel? Not really interested by a sequel though. The entire story with the totem seems weird considering what ultimately happens... Since it was in Early Access for so long, it feels like they had to release the game and did not really know how to end the game perfectly so Act 3 just takes a totally different turn.
Great game, pretty fun... Wished for more magical weapons, a different story and new game+ though.
I've not played the game yet and was reading your impressions in the comments. You seem to have covered a lot. The bit that confused me is about Annabelle not being beautiful enough. Is that tied to a story mechanic, like she's supposed to be the most beautiful person in the world? Or is the criticism you just wished she was prettier?
@@stuartmorley6894 It's a criticism, she could have been prettier ! At one point during the story you meet her, her face has this mask on and you may decide to help her or not which in turns get you to see her face... A bit disappointed here. Especially when there's something similar in the final chapter and the girl turns out to be quite pretty but she's for your undead friend... Still, it's fun to help her.
But while those 2 quest can be missed, there's no mention of them at the end. Pretty sad since it makes you feel even more like all you did was for nothing.
Still, it's a pretty good game, very well made with some great ideas (even if it can be a bit frustrating). Sometimes the music is lacking and the game is too quiet but it's a flaw you can forget about 'cause it's so well made.
This game has nothing to do with Weird West, right?
Unrelated, yeah
Yeah, the game is real, real good for what it is.
Haha, yesterday I asked in the comments under the previous Blood West video if Mortim will review the full game and he almost immediately published the video 😂
Nice
You’re the man for covering this game. I honestly can’t stop playing Blood West. It’s been a banger year for games but I think Blood West is my GotY.
Ah maaan, that's a real shame about the story. It looked like it had good potential. I find I can overlook middling gameplay when the story is great, but ok/good gameplay with a dull or nonexistent story is something can often leave me feeling disappointed ...especially if the ending sucks.
Boomer shooters never had much of a story, and that is fine with me. (is Blood West considered a boomer shooter?) I will personally give this game a go when I have the chance, just because I love any game like this. What can I say, I love old looking crap, and still think it is pretty awesome in today's world.
I would say it's definitly not a boomer shooter because there is a huge emphasis on stealth. I am surprise to see Mortismal footage to be honest. I played 2 chapters in early access and it's all about stealthy melee kills.
free comment.
"Story is rather tame and the ending is terrible". Sooo, like pretty much every Weird West games of late? 😅 Damn, what is it about this setting that we can't get a cool story... 😔
Red Dead Redemption 2 says hi (i know not horror or supernatural, but you said setting :P)
@@rufuzmitchell1767Weird West is a setting and a genre...
20-30 hours for me is 3 months long 😂
An undead gunslinger, raised from the dead, to fight a rising evil...... sounds remotely like a first person shooter by the title of "Blood" from the pentium era of gaming. Is the arch-villain an ancient god by the name of Chernobog?
This looks fun but the story being a letdown is a bummer. I think my biggest takeaway from the game is that I’d really really love an Old West version of The Witcher
My interest was lost when you said the ending was terrible. I had heard another person say the plot was also weak and the ending not being that good either, so I don't think it was just you.
Thanks Morty.
easy mode
First
The game was great but the ending left me with a sour taste, it's just lazy.
i disagree about your opinion on the ending
Yo, there was news of a youtuber who 100% games that he had a scam foundation, and I didn't know for sure who it was, so I stopped watching your videos just to be sure. Just found out it was another guy, I want to apologize and hope you'll take me back as your viewer
I really really enjoyed this game, the exploration is like nothing else I’ve played recently, but I feel its replay ability is very dependent on the player.
If it had a new game+ mode I feel like I would be more incentivized to replay and search for stuff I didn’t 100%, but I really feel like I saw everything there was to see.
