Those old mbz’s were built like tanks and will run forever if you just give them what they need…..unlike the newer ones built after say…..1996 or so…i have a 2010 cls550 and although it has about 130k on the clock its been a great car and never left me stranded…knock on wood….but the only problem i cannot look away from is the failing clear coat.. and of course the car is black….my teenage son drives it to school since he just got his liscence back in jan. And we are still getting everything nice and safe on his ‘67 mustang C code coupe ( i tried my hardest to convince him to get a GM product😢😢)…..So now that he is starting spring break i told him he is gonna go out into the garage and help me prep that car so we can re-shoot the paint…i think this time were gonna change it to a charcoal gray color given that we own 7 vehicles and 5 of them are black…..im kinda over it now, they are really nice when clean, but a pain in the ass to keep that way…..my nova and c/10 i purposely painted white just for that reason….plus white paint is more forgiving than dark colors, especailly for plumbers that never painted cars before, with real paint from a gun and not a can😂😂😂

Adam: No iron remover before the clay bar? That makes it really slick. Using a 600 GSM microfiber for clay is really not necessary. I use the Kirkland 80/20 250 gsm. Save the heavy artillery for finishing. Lake Country has a new pad washer which is incredible. Clear coat is clear that's why you don't see it on the pad like single stage. The hazing? I suggest Xtreme solutions LVR 403. Bumps the GU'z almost 10 points! You're learnin' !!!!! Mitch

I like the Kirkland towels for a lot, but I save those for my "average" cars. I seem to have not good luck with them leaving scratches behind.

We use a iron remover decon for something like that . Such as black fire , but it smells 😶‍🌫️ like 20 year old panther urine .

I buy them from my Jax Wax dealer. I'm not sure what brand they are. They're like $6-7 each.

    Original paint ?
I had to strip one like this an the paint was tough to get off.

Half is original, the right half has been repainted. It does seem like pretty tough thick paint.
