LOL
🙂👍😁
Each video is so enjoyable even the older ones. Thank you, Dale, to continue to make these nice videos!
Mr. Calder, regarding your video about your island's efforts to gain direct access to your mainland: Margaret Mead's quote applies..
(roughly)... "Never doubt that a small group of committed people can make a difference. Indeed that's all that ever has." Best wishes for your community.
Thank you .
Very nice recipe Dale! Perfect for this time of year! Dark, cold afternoons call for a warm treat.
I’m praying for you and your neighbors to be able to make a mark in history by correcting
the wrong imparted upon you! Life can be unfair and complicated. Change comes from
those who recognize, and take action. God Bless Dale! ♥️🙋♀️🕊🙏
Thanks so much

Yummie. My brekkie for the next week. Thanks.
Hope you enjoy
Thumbs up even before the video begins..... another great video Mr Dale. I definitely love the way you explain everything
So nice of you
I love black treacle. I remember as a kid getting into a right mess trying to get it out the tin. Thankfully these days it's available in squeezy bottles 😁
I know what you mean I think the tin that golden syrup comes in is the worst packaging I've ever seen.
@@DaleCalderCampobello that's the same tin the treacle came in! Horrendous design, no matter how much you twist the spoon, tyring to get some out it still went everywhere.
I really like your butter dish haven’t seen one of those in a long time👍❤️
Thank you 😋 Made by a potter in Quebec ua-cam.com/users/LePotierPothier
Looks delicious , heading into the kitchen now to try these. Should be great on a snowy Michigan day. Your apron is great, very appropriate. Thank you Dale.
Hope you enjoy
Hi Dale! I love your apron that is really nice. The scones look really good👍
Thanks so much
Thank You Dale
Love to collect and try your recipes !
Glad you like them!
When my brother and I were very young, our parents took us out of school in 1963 to go on a trip to live for a few months with our mother`s sister in Florida. I think we spent most of that winter down there. The same time that JFK was shot. Dad bought a couple of cases of genuine blackstrap molasses made in Louisiana. I polished off the last two bottles by myself after dad died back in the 90`s. Drinking (or eating?) real blackstrap molasses is probably like tasting Vegemite. Either you love it, or hate it. Last month, I found a whole brand new sealed bottle of Brer Rabbit unsulfered blackstrap molasses. I love the stuff by the spoonful. Kind of like a tonic. I take it with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a big glass of water in the morning.
That is very interesting
The combo of the molasses, cinnamon and ginger sound yummy!
It was! Like a molasses cookie.
These sound lovely with some tea,
Thank you they are .
Looks delicious! 😋
Thank you 😋
Those look delicious!! I bet that they are too. Mmmmmm
May the force (forks) be with you too. The force is strong with this young Jedi. 😊
LOL
Of course I love all your recipes, & that apron is spot on, kewl, funny, and oh so appropriate! 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
This looks delicious, Dale. While I absolutely love classic scones with whipped cream and strawberry jam, this looks like a nice change for winter. Took me down memory lane for just a moment: Reminded me of when my mom used to make delicious molasses bread with raisins in it.
Sounds great!
🤗 Thank you Dale, they looked yummy and not very hard to make!
They are!
Hello Dale, These treacle scones look great! I like the use of molasses and not requiring an egg. I appreciate you including the recipe. Please stay well, Karen
Thanks so much
I tracked down a copy of that fabulous cookbook on amazon. Thank you Dale for the reference. I see they have another used copy for about 10 dollars. And a third copy is 700 dollars!!!!
Amazon is crazy they do that a lot. try abebooks.com

They look lovely little scones Dale I am going to try them.Thats a handy little gadget for getting the butter rubbed into the flour, saw you use it many times , have to get one of those. Thanks Dale.👍
Very welcome
Thank you for the recipe and for explaining what treacle is! I used to think it was like molasses, but wasn’t sure.
Happy to help
I'm so glad to have an interesting recipe to use molasses I have left from making Scandinavian ginger thin cookies. I also have some clotted cream in the freezer, so I will have a lovely treat with tea very soon! Thank you for the video inspiration.
Sounds great!
I truly am appreciative for this recipe and will certainly make these scones. You are right, I have all the ingredients.😊
Wonderful!
Those looked delicious. I love molasses. I made a few batches of brown bread a few months ago. My favorite (sweet) bread.
So good! I haven't made brown bread in years.
Those scones look delicious Dale! I’ll have to try making them for sure.
Thank you .
They look so delicious and not so hard to make. Great apron!
Thanks so much! 😊
Looks delicious! I love molasses also. My mother always made molasses cookies with raisons and walnuts! Great for tea dunking!
Sounds great!
I can’t wait to try these scones!
Hope you like them.
Nice job, looked great including the apron...............
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks good, I prefer sorghum over molasses. We grew it at the antique tractor club I belonged to in Michigan. Then pressed it out and boiled the liquid down to syrup. Was very tasty on hot biscuits and made great cookies.
Thanks for sharing
Very please to see you use the cookbook, happy that you cook a couple of recipes from it, enjoy, Bye RB
Our pleasure!
This is another wonderful video. Thank you for sharing. All the best to you and your community. I hope it all gets worked out very soon.

Making these on the weekend!
Hope you like them
Those look easy and yummy.
They are!
I learned a new word-treacle. I love molasses so I’m looking forward to trying these. Love the butter keeper and your apron which reminded me how I lost my fork the other day and tried to eat my lunch with a spoon. It was pointless.
Awesome! Thank you!
Ha! Ha! Pointless!
We love scones How are Angel and the chickens? We hope you had a good Christmas and happy new year. 💜💜☃️
Thank you! You too!
Did you mention scones!!!! ??Yum!!🤗🤗
LOL
My favorite thing is the tasting! On a side note about molasses or treacle if you have an allergy to sulfur check label, also with wine and dried fruits. It's commonly to use as a preservative. Peace.
We mixed warm butter and warm molasses syrup together and put it on our biscuits at school in the 50s. Molasses is good for you.
Clydene Chinetti yes it's good for you has vitamins and minerals.....except when you're allergic to sulfur. Me- wine, molasses, dried pineapple resulted in a trip to ER. This includes certain antibiotics can result in severe breathing problems.
Thank you .
@@sandranevins2144 Thanks. I have taken note.👍🙂🍪☕
Oh dear, Sandra, I didn't realize my post is a reply to your post. I wondered where it went!👩💻🌻Sorry.🙂I looked and looked for it. MY PHONE does wierd things all by itself, no help from me. I thought, surely Dale didn't block it!😁It is about biscuits.🙂🌻☕⚘⚘⚘I am so sorry. Cabin fever...😷🙂 I live in a cabin about twice as long as Dale's. Right now, I am making soup.🙂👍
Looks delicious!!!!
It is!
They look delicious!
Thank you 😋
Lol-I finally got around to making these!-very yummy! Thanks!!
Glad you like them!
looks tasty .Thank You . Have a great day
Thank you! You too!
i enjoy your videos !!
I appreciate that!
looks yummy!
Thank you 😋
Those look good enough to eat! I always thought that treacle was just corn syrup. The stuff they used on Coronation Street was golden, I'm sure...
Yes a lot of things are called treacle that would have been golden syrup which is also called treacle.
Thank you for the education about where molasses comes from I was always curious about that So dark brown sugar is just unprocessed sugar
Less processed than white sugar anyway.
Going to make these for breakfast today!😋
Hope you enjoy
Yummy
😋
I like using a food processor to incorporate the butter because it’s too hard on my hands and it really seems to do a quick and decent job 😁
Yes that should work
Thanks!
Welcome!
Luv the apron!!! The scones look delicious. Again, best of luck w/ ur Supreme Court issue. I bet if all the residents stopped paying taxes, the government would quickly figure out how to get on the island!!!
Good point
I no longer have a pastry cutter. I now just use my wire wisk. Works just as good, and gets one more item out of my drawer.
That's a great idea!
Looking forward to a video from the cabin Dale.
Coming soon!
I used to add ground walnuts to my scones😋
That sounds very good.
I like the flavor of molasses, too.
It is very traditional here
Interesting gadget, to combine the butter with the dry ingredients - I'd never seen it before. Seems quite efficient!
At school (lots of decades ago), we were taught to rub the fat into flour with our fingers, but our hands had to be cold to stop the butter or lard from melting. We used to have a basin full of ice cold water on the workbench to cool our hands, and all in all it wasn't too comfortable and took ages. But the combined mix looked like perfect little grains of rice. Your mix didn't look quite as perfect, but I bet that the result is delicious anyway. If I had used your gadget instead of getting chilblains and freezing cold hands, I might have taken up cooking all those years ago. Does the gadget have a name?
By the way, treacle is one of my favourite ingredients. I just dip a teaspoon in it and lick!
Thank you it is called a pastry blender widely available here anyway.
I remember a comment from many years ago that went something to the effect of "You can tell a good cookie recipe, by molasses being listed in the ingredients".
LOL
👍👍👍👍
How about making some bonfire toffee which also uses treacle. And you could substitute it with molasses as well :)
Sounds good
Scones came out looking very yummy I think I might try them myself. What type of jam was that?
Apricot brand name Smuckers.
Wish I could get molasses, I have only seen it here once and the price tag was more than a plane ticket to go get it myself, one day I am sure I will find some at a bit more reasonable price.
So common here I just assumed you could get it anywhere.
Given the inaccessibility to Canada; how do you get your groceries and in particular the Crosby's molasses?
Local store
Looks good. Can you add fruit?
I think rains or currants would be very nice.
My sister gave me a bread making machine for Christmas and I want to make a non-white healthy bread. What kind of flour should i buy? I know you have made bread in past videos. Thanks!!!
I've never used a bread machine though. Any flour that is labeled Bread flour should work ie Whole Wheat Bread Flour.
Dale, I think you're due for a cabin/cooking video...hint hint.
Maybe!
@@DaleCalderCampobello Thanks..!!
Good Man ! Yeeehaaaa ! Trying one today.. (Ireland)
