Thanks for the video. I've made this a couple times now over here in Utah. Delicious. I make square sausage from scratch as well and put them together. It's like I'm back home!
Never realised how simple these were to make, I saw another recipe that suggested using 1 egg in the flour mixture but most agree that it's just mashed potato, flour, salt and baking powder ... any thoughts?
A wee bit on the thick side.I make them thinner and less oil.Just enough oil to stop them sticking.Lovely with grated cheese on top and grilled then served hot with a shake of pepper on top.
Thick? Listen to what he said. Roll out the dough from ONE to TWO millimetres thick. That's about the thickness of the pancakes they serve in Chinese restaurants when you order crispy duck in pancakes or even the thickness of a credit card. And you make them thinner? They must end up almost see-through!
He's making what we in n.I call potato f arls lovely fried up with soda bread, egg bacon and black pudding as a weekend breakfast. They are also lovely toasted with cheese.
@@cornishpasty4344 Quite right. And anyone who knows their history would also know that the Scoti were originally a north-eastern Irish tribe who migrated to south-western Scotland and ended up giving their name to the whole country. Which is why they have much in common with the Irish. Says I, a Geordie with both Irish and Scottish forebears. 😉

That's how I make them too. Had to figure it out myself some years ago when I moved to California. It's a Scottish tortilla.
Always wondered how they were made. Thanks. :)
Thank you for the upload, greatly appreciated. :)

Alba_Pheno
Tattie scones is always used in Glasgow
No baking powder at all needed, try only potatoes salt oil or butter and flour :)
If you ad an egg to the mix (some even add milk and egg to it) you need so much more flour wich is not necessary at all
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH
They're delicious
This is the Scottish gordan ramsay.
Wait a minute gordan ramsay is Scottish
But this guy here is actually nice.

I’ve never heard of this. I don’t want to try it if I’m not sure. My kids would kill me if I ruin a good potato scone lol

Farls are Irish.
Yes finally a video that shows you that the scones must be thin. BUT - they need to stay whole and rolled up, not cut into quarters.
Nonsense.
Dinnae be effin daft...
So, “Boxty”?! 🇮🇪
BREAKING NEWS!!!! Potato farls are an Irish, not a Scottish invention....'Potato Scone' doesn't even make ANY sense...FOOLS😔
Breaking news. Many people in Scotland are Irish and also... Many in Ireland are Scottish.
