The song is sung by Paul a note higher than the recorded version, which is why I like it (listen to the studio version. I like this live one better). I like the repartee of the group, particularly between Paul and John as they were preparing to start singing. You could see and feel the bond between the two. Amazing. While viewing the video, I couldn't help but reminisce those days, I wasn't a teenager then , I was in grade 2 or 3 (1966), but I saw how the teenagers were having the time of their lives. There was a party in the house of our neighbor, and the lights would be turned off as "sweet" songs were played, to the consternation of the parents. I had not been a fan of the Beatles since, but with this song and this video, they got me hooked, though not all of their songs are to my liking. Now, I understand why they had such a following, their songs touch the heart. Hello everyone, Greetings from Iloilo City, Philippines.
Thank you. So nice! And yes, the studio recording and record as released had this song in the key of F major. But it seems that in all of the live versions of this song I've seen have the song played in G major, a full note higher than F major. We don't know why: Maybe Pau wanted it to sound brighter, or maybe it was easier to play in G major than F major on the guitars?? Or both? Or something else?
@@mathmusic1490 I think they had the live version a note higher, the key of G, because, you know, when we sing live, we tend to drag and have erratic pace. Do to counter act the drag, they upped the key from F to G to make their singing pleasing. The higher note counteracts the unpalatable drag. I think that's it.

Yep I agree, Paul doesn’t even open with the correct lyrics on this version. The opening line is “all my troubles seems so far away, now it looks as though there here to stay” not what is sung here. I agree Macca was the engine, he had the voice to hit the high notes and harmonies which allowed many of those songs to be in the key they are written in and to have the movement within that key. Macca was also still keen when Lennon was 'lost in space' ...it was Macca who tried to keep things going. He may not be as much of the troubled soul that Lennon gave to the band and they were a perfect compliment to each other, but without Macca's melodic style their appeal would've been significantly reduced. Yes, they were all great together, but Macca became the driving force.

I've long thought that the best part of any youtube video is always the comments, but this comments section is remarkable. So many languages! So many people around the world touched by this song. How wonderful to see!
I always wonder, have any remaining Beatles ever just roaming around youtube to watch their old clips like this one just for reminiscing the old times.
Since 2008 and before 2012, I used to love to play classical music on the piano very much (the piano was my first instrument ever since my 7 years in 2008 and classic music was my first genre since my 7 years in 2008). My grandparents saw that I've tried to play the piano before 2008 and that's why they decided to get the piano teacher for me back then. In 2011 I wanted to start to play the guitar. I've tried to play on the guitar by trying to compress some chords. It was like that before 2012 when I was 11 years old. My grandfather used to love The Beatles throughout his life so much (I believe about "throughout his life"). He made me learn the song “Yesterday” on the piano. I don’t remember exactly how I came up to learn that song on guitar as well, but I have decided to do that on the guitar too. I've learned how to play that song on the guitar first then on the piano. That was my second song ever, which I’ve ever learned to play on the guitar. The first song was “Let It Be” (I’ve learned how to play “Let It Be” on piano later as well). Honestly, I don't remember which song I've learned first on the guitar, but these 2 songs were first for sure. After 2012, I've had several teachers up until 2018 (private, in schools), but most of the time I've learned to play the guitar myself. Also, The Beatles was my first Rock band, to which I’ve ever listen to. Exactly The Beatles has made me start to love Rock and listen to other Rock Bands, first Classical Rock, then Post-Grange like "Three Days Grace", "Sick Puppies", today I even listen to screamo, emo, hard-metal-deathcore bands, and many others. I've stopped to love Classical music and play the piano as much as I used to before (well, I had to finish my music school, that's why I still used to play classic music on the piano until 2016). My grandfather recently died on December 20th, 2018 (I couldn't attend his funeral face-to-face because I'm from Russia living in the United States and he's from Russia too, but he has lived most of his life in Kazakhstan). Sometimes nowadays I listen to The Beatles (especially to "Yesterday") in a big amount of nostalgia for 2012 when my grandfather had made me learn some of The Beatles' songs. Today the Rock (and heavier than Rock) music is my favorite genre. Today the guitar is my favorite instrument and I play on it even more often than the piano, even though as I've said before, the piano is my first musical instrument ever. I rarely play the piano and I've stopped playing classic music completely because I'm afraid of a very huge amount of nostalgia, even bigger than by The Beatles. Thank you so much for the great childhood, grandfather, I miss you so much. I hope that you're doing good wherever you are today 😖💔 (I'm sorry for my not very good English because my first language is Russian and I'm ethnic Russian)
It`s incredible to think about the fact that while they still were singing old hits in front of screaming fans in 1966, they were making "Tomorrow never knows" and "Eleanor Rigby" in the studio. The whole "Revolver" album had already been recorded when they went on their 1966 world tour. Amazing. Btw. "Yesterday" is so beautiful. Paul wrote this when he was 22 years old.
How historical is this. John Lennon playing Yesterday on his guitar.

OMG unbelievable this voice this beautiful feeling. It is 2018 and I am so impressed. Thank you Paul thank you for this beautiful song. Forever xxx
Best live version ever!
best version is blackpool night out 1 august 1965
Yep I agree, Paul doesn’t even open with the correct lyrics on this version. The opening line is “all my troubles seems so far away, now it looks as though there here to stay” not what is sung here.
This version is actually longer than the 1965 live version so it wasn’t to shorten the song. Paul just forgot the words to one of his greatest songs 🤔 This is 10 months after the live version you mention here.

Paul McCartney was always the standout for the Beatles. What a talented guy.
All of them were great
There was no one stand out they were all great you don’t know what you’re talking about lol
@@SamA-oe7ft lol. Ok 👍🏻
That’s clearly Lennon.

It's a famous Beatles song when I was 5 years old

The Beatles are gone, but the song seems to remain with us forever

Beatles, simplesmente sensacional!Amooooooooo!
You got a love Lennon and McCartney. When I was eight years old I found an old black trunk with a bunch of Beatles albums and at age 53 the Beatles are still my favorite group.

real classic and so memorable
Absolutely love this version. Always get very emotional with it.

The best version
It`s incredible to think about the fact that while they still were singing old hits in front of screaming fans in 1966, they were making "Tomorrow never knows" and "Eleanor Rigby" in the studio. The whole "Revolver" album had already been recorded when they went on their 1966 world tour. Amazing. Btw. "Yesterday" is so beautiful. Paul wrote this when he was 22 years old.
it’s crazy that with the beatles bc they weren’t around for long, old hits was the year prior
