    Great comparison. Like to see what you think about Masterbox figures. Especially the faces and expressions in some of the fighting sets such as 3592.

      That's a great idea. The action poses of that hand to hand combat would really bring some excitement to a diorama.

    Great to see that you managed the glazing technique. And ss always, thanks for sharing!

      I'm still trying to get a model with a good looking dust layer with streaks, did not manage it yet. Trying to master oils now and hope I will reach my goal via OPR 😄

    Nice video, and a good question addressed. Resin heads (from Hornet, with their more life-like facial expressions) coupled with a plastic figure, rather than a resin one, often works fine for me. But I concur, the resin figures are preferable for their crisper details.

      Working with the resin for the first time was really enjoyable. But the quality of plastic figures has gone up so much in the last few years it's getting harder to justify the price of resin.

      @@mattockmodels Agreed. But the face makes the figure (IMHO), so I use resin heads. In any case, Thanks for the video.

      Yes! I actually have a few products from them, including a handful of the books for building dioramas.

    Is it green greenish grey color ? 🤔

    • @mattockmodels
      @mattockmodels  2 роки тому

      I painted them with Vallejo dark green as the base coat. Tamiya calls for XF-65, Field Gray. But that's actually a green color. I used the glazing method so I started darker since I knew the highlights underneath would lighten it up. Hope that helps.

    What is the cost comparison?

    • @mattockmodels
      @mattockmodels  2 роки тому

      Oh great question! The alpine figure was $19.00 and the Marder I kit was around $32.00. So around 60% of the total kit with 2 figures for one figure.

      @@mattockmodels hey thanks for responding - appears expensive, although have to agree the alpine figure looks fantastic.

    Wery nice , and little advice , use gloves when u painting ;)

    • @mattockmodels
      @mattockmodels  2 роки тому +1

      Haha I know I know, I just hate it! Paint gets on the gloves then it sticks to the model. I just rather wash my hands and deal with the finger prints and oils. That being said what gloves would you recommend?
