I’ve got some tree trunks in my backyard from trees we had to remove and I’m scratching my head trying to figure out how to turn them into dowels, nice arrows!
It might take a lot of work and require special equipment. The good replacement idea for such dowels are young shoots of shrubs like hazel or rose. These make great arrows too (I've made videos with use of these too). Thank you!

I have some Red Osier (A species of Dogwood) that I put through a dowel plate. The wood is very dense, but it makes some very tough arrows.

Where do you get your shafts from? I've been trying to make my own from some random wood but they are always curvy or break when hitting target..
I buy simple wood dowels and select the best grained out of them. If they are curvy you can straighten them with the use of heat. Breaking when hitting target might be the result of badly grain shaft with grain runoffs
Hey, man, i think you will for sure sucseed in this project, what you think about the idea of making Genichiro Ashina's Bow from Sekiro? It's assimetrical like japanese Yumi, but a lil smaller, thicker and wider on centers of shoulders. Anyway checkout official concept art work. Atleast it will be interesting to take a look at.

How does that clip work for you fletchings? Want to start making my own arrows but don’t want to spend the money on a jig lol
It works well for me, although it took a while to learn how to use it properly. But for sure it is a good and cheap alternative for a jig.
