      yeah that's actually the best way to put it. i've always kinda seen him as the "neutral" character but i feel like that's the best way.
      saltspyre although mostly cooperitive has a gripe against sienna (for obvious witchhunter reasons), and doesn't always appreciate how the dwarf is different culturally. he is pretty strict and zealous too, obviously being a witch hunter, so he can put even kruber, his most beloved companion at odds sometimes with his no tolerance policy of many things.
      kerillian just sorta hates humans because they are somewhat culturally backwards compared to the elven society, and for historical reasons (see: the war of the beard) doesn't like the dwarf. she has a bit of a like towards sienna but that's only somewhat. she still clashes with sienna a bit because her reckless and quick-to-act mindset differs from her waystalker ideals of careful planning and understanding of surroundings.
      bardin is a little too jolly (especially in the first vermintide with all that singing) for the situation, its a nice relief considering the situation otherwise is quite dark, but doesn't fare well with the zealous seriousness of saltspyre, the cold cynicism of kerillian, and the love of destruction of sienna.
      sienna obviously doesn't get along well with salt (once again, for witch hunter reasons), has a bit of a like of kerillian but they still differ a lot. sienna is still pretty calm minded all things considered despite the fact she is a fire mage, but still.
      kruber is really the only character that (for the most part) gets along with everyone else pretty well
      TLDR: every other character has a gripe with someone else except good ole kruber

      @combinecommando001 2 роки тому +7

      @@sovietunion7643 The issue with elves in Warhammer (that goes for 40K as well) is the fact that due to their long lifespan and their understanding of magic and ability to use it with grace and precision, they are extremely arrogant and look down on everyone else as mentioned, they perceive anyone who is not them as stumbling around like infants. That arrogance blinds them heavily to their own shortcomings and when it blows up in their face, it's everyone else's fault, not their own.
      Meanwhile, Kerrilian comes out as an odd one as while she still has quite a bit of arrogance, she does have the means and skill to show for it, though more often than not it leads her in a bad position when she runs her mouth, but she sometimes can recognize when she messed up and allows herself to be humbled.

    Something people I think forget too often is that Kruber is probably the most well suited out of all the U5 to be an actual leader. Saltzpyre is more or less the man who formed the band, but he's hardly considered their superior outside of pre-GK Kruber, and it's not a stretch to say that all of the lads consider one another equals and brothers-at-arms. This animation really is just a feel-good look at what the U5 are doing in their offtime. If you ever get around to it I would love a look at Saltzpyre holding a holy mass or something with a bunch of faithfuls converging at the Keep since his arisen Priesthood. That is of course if there could be any models to even rip from that aren't generic peasants from that Against The Grain mission.

    It's a small detail but one that can have a lot of depth to it. The kight that Kruber gave advice too is still seen doing some moves on the dummy, but he seems to be a lot more aggressive with his strikes and moves. This man seems to have a lot of pent-up aggression in him towards the rot bloods, which begs the question of the reason why. Maybe they took someone or somthing very important to him, hell maybe his family were the many poor souls that were killed by the rot bloods.
    So many different ways to interpret this man's story all from the subtle hints of his aggression in his movement.
    Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it, either works.

    I used to hate Warhammer for it's grimderp atmosphere of devastation, wanton cruelty, and pointless suffering. It always read like misery porn, with every summary of the lore I came across being outright fetishistic in how casually it would describe the horrors of war. Nothing sent that message to me finer than The End Times, and so I had avoided Vermintide when it first came out due to the association. However, a friend finally got me into VT2 a few months ago, and I have to give my utmost respect to the people at Fat Shark. The dialogue in these games, and your animations in particular, have made me fall in love with this world.
    Sure, a lot of the fun I had in the first ten hours or so was mostly just engaging in the mindless violence and killing rats. I'll admit, it's fun to sweep through hordes of vermin and sear the flesh off rampaging rotbloods with a well-placed eruption of flame. But in spite of everything, the game's heart is in the human element at its core. To be honest, I should hate these people. They're almost villainous; each one has brought about incomprehensible amounts of suffering due to their negligence, lunacy, cowardice, and ego. These are horribly flawed people. However, the writing has presented their actions as reasonable, relatable, and each is quite likeable in their own right. Above all, they're damn heroes. The Ubersreik Five (or four) have sought to battle with nothing but selfless furor against the hordes of undeath and chaos that call oblivion to their door. Though they can't change the end of the world, they're *damn* sure that it won't happen without a fight, dragging innumerable legions of evil screaming to hell along with them. It is almost a Grecian tragedy, where the surface-level story is that reality falls apart and the gods do battle on earth, but the fundamental underlying point of it all is analogous to real stuggles that real people can empathise with.
    It's animations like this one that show the U5 (and the themes of the Vermintide games) for what they really are. Human.

    it's crazy how much your animations have improved since the start, that and your ability to make hard hitting shitposts as well as more "serious" stuff equally well are inspiring. you're probably the most high effort youtuber i think i've seen for any game, keep it up

    Love the animation and I love how we see the man still training after Lohner called for drinks and food. He has determination to get better the rat men and northlanders are ransacking his home and likely has lost someone to the invasion. Kinda love to see Warhammer fantasy alive like this warms my heart ty Janfon 1

    There are many small movements in the characters which I just love the added detail for. From all the little gestures that lohner and kruber make to emphasise their words, to kruber's enthusiasm when he pulls up the knife, to the focussed movements of the soldier training. It really is a joy seeing you add so much character to each of these animations. Keep up the great work!

    It's stunning how well you craft your animation around pre-existing dialogue. If I knew nothing about the game, I could swear that those voice lines were recorded specifically for this video. How are you still not a part of Fatshark marketing team is beyond me.
    On another note - I sincerely hope that Darktide will boast a similarly amazing cast and characters (it's a big ask, I know, because VT is just *brilliant* in that regard, but one can hope) and that the devs will provide even more juicy dialogue, so awesome people like you can take it and run away with it.
    Speaking of which - when Darktide comes (and if it turns out to be good), do you intend to make videos for it as well, or are you not really "into" 40k?

    • @Janfon1
      @Janfon1  3 роки тому +13

      Yeah I like 40k, played all of the Dawn of War titles (except dawn of war 3) and even heard of shenanigans like Eternal Crusade's downfall. To sum it up, I don't play tabletop, but I love Bruva Alfabusa. I'm gonna jump on Darktide the moment it comes out

    This is perhaps the most beautiful animation I’ve seen yet. So much character, emotion, and depth in every bit of it. I cannot imagine the work it must have taken for this, but I love all of it. My favorite part is Kruber being stern but fair, and you can sort of tell he missed training soldiers. I like the improvement of the initial soldier as well, and when he smiles a little at the end when offered a drink.
    I think you capture the essence of the setting so, so well. These men are all battered, rugged, and exhausted, but they still fight, and there IS hope, and moments of peace.

    Kruber really is a bright ray of hope in a dark world.
    Everything about him is just heartwarming: the man loses his whole company to a spell, but continues on trying to keep others motivated and their moral up. Just knowing what he's been through puts a lot into perspective. No matter how dour or rude the other Five get he's always trying to keep their spirits up and in fighting shape.
    Reading into his actions you can see how much Krub' misses his company, and just wants brothers-in-arms again.

    Now that's something that I like to see, Warhammer fantasy always had that feeling that yes, the common folk, and even the heroes could always have something of an ugly mug, not everyone looks like a pretty doll especially in such settings. Using those models was a good call, they really convey the idea of an everyday-man suddendly having to wear armor and drilling with a sword for the first time just to survive.
