For a robust offroad camper the wooden frame is a completely bad idea! Only advantage is that it’s probably light but durability sucks . I’d go for aluminum frame rather than wood. Otherwise a great DIY project
Watching Eddie being built is so... satisfying. I can't wait to see the interior being installed. Please do in-depth videos on this. Looks awesome so far. 👍👍
Great job on Eddie I think you doing a fantastic job now just get the interior nice and cozy and you're all set can't wait to see the adventures you have in him looking forward to them great job my friend 👍👍😁

Have a good wheeled jack and tire wrench, unless you pay for roadside service. With that in mind, you may have to wait awhile before getting roadside service. Eaglegards...
Love the exterior. Getting the bubbles out looked time consuming... as I'm sure was the filming & editing this compilation! Quite a step up from the truck extension. Looks awesome!👊😃
Just hopped in touch base Eddie your doing very well mate dad's enjoying you too catch you again before you hit the road . Cheers mate keep on keeping on.
Looks fantastic! Good work and I know you will have a thousand adventures in this baby. I look forward to see the interior finished and your first outing, probably next Spring :)
What a pleasure is was to see your meticulously precise attention to detail and superb craftsmanship during the construction of your travel cabin. I was particularly impressed with the lengths you went to to keep water, mud and road grime away from your floor, your ingenious use of folded sheet metal was excellent in that application. Your chassis is as good as it gets, and one of the strongest I've seen for an off road compact travel cabin. This build will inspire others to construct their own to a similar high standard. Thank you for sharing. Edited for typo.
Wow. This is awesome and also pretty timely. I have a 2001 Coleman Sun Valley where the canvas is on its last legs. Figured id strip it down and use the base trailer to do my own. At 7'5" x 17', that's a good base to start from. If you had to guess, roughly how many man hours did you put into this? Id hazard roughly 75 to 100 hours. Such great work, Eddie. Well done.
Big respect Bro, well am impressed and am asking if you can help me with the lay out of the Trailer so that I build myself one here in Africa Kenya to be precise. Thanks a lot for shairing your work with us.
Seeing it come together in this manner was really cool! Also as your friend I will no longer allow any " I'm just an average DIY project guy". Horse hockey, you are talented my friend. Ok except for making fires in a hurry when Scouts cold. hahaha. The other thing, when will you begintaking orders for the " DRENALIN ADVENTURES CUSTOM EDDIE" orders? Please let me know. haha. I really enjoy this series and seing it come together bud.
I would be interested in knowing what the scale empty weight will be on this trailer when your finished with it before you start loading it up. Looks like you built this to be a very stout and cozy trailer.
I did not praise you enough, I was in a hurry. But it was very enjoyable to watch you do such great work, it doesn’t only require a lot of experience, it requires dedication, ability, focus, personal pride, attention to detail, precision, and so many other qualities, And I thank you for sharing such a masterful accomplishment, where we all learned many things just watching you. Congratulations , you are a multitalented Master Craftsman. 🤠👍👍👍
I would have put a little bow in the roof, couple of inches, I like good drainage and l hate low spots. Your build is so fine that you won't have roof issues. Mine wouldn't be that fine.
Very good job thank you for sharing, Why did you install the outer wall sheet before the inside , is there any reason? I have seen others install the inside sheet , then electrical wiring, water pipes and insulation. And last is the outside sheet.
What calculations or formulas did you use to maintain the balance within the camper to achieve the proper tongue weight for the vehicle you are using to tow this?
Would you have an estimate on the dry weight? I want to build a camper like yours that you can stand up inside it. But my car can only pull around 1500 lbs
Should I put a metal roof on it the vinyl sucks my last camper I had had a metal roof on it and it lasted 25 years and when I got rid of it it was still going my new trailer is only a 2005 and has had two new roofs on it
Thankfully, your attitude wasn't shared by the designers and constructors of some of the most famous vessels, aircraft and vehicles constructed in wood that were truly outstanding, such as the De Havilland Mosquito.
@@felixcat9318 the world has moved on to other things. When did you last see a new car with a wooden frame? Not saying it wouldn't be cool, but wood is not really known for being a very uniform material. Making frames out of wood that has the same strength and rigidity as steel (and not being bulky as all heck) is near impossible.
@@Zekla There are trailers built from wood that have lasted many decades. Trailers of wooden construction have proven themselves to be fine, other than for the irrational fears of some people...
@@juliosdiy3206 consider the current cost of a basic 8’ truck camper is over $50,000 before title, registration and license fees. They go up from there. Inexpensive teardrop trailers are selling for $20,000 and that’s basically a covered bedroom and outdoor everything else.
What are you going to use for the insulation and interior walls? Also, was the floor insulated? looked like the steel frame, the sheet metal then the plywood?
I got so much peace watching this. I would love to do this and install some solar as well. Very inspiring from start to finish.
Glad to hear that. Thank you
See the good design and engineering, quality of materials and skilled workmanship being applied from the get go.

Wow this was more impressive in time lapse Scott. Brilliant decision. You should be so proud. Again thanks for including us
My pleasure!
Кажется, всё просто! А сколько труда! Мастер!!! 👍
Anxious to see the interior build!! If it matches the exterior, it will be awesome!!
That's the plan!
