I have access to oak boards--would you recommend prepping them in the same way you did for pine? Also, when painting w acrylic paint, how long do you have to wait for it to dry before adding another coat?
We ordered one of your monogram stencils on Amazon. It looks amazing but I have a question. Why do you use acrylic and not chalk paint? We’re new to painting and trying to figure out the best option. We’re having trouble sealing the chalk paint. It seems to reactivate when I brush polycrylic and smudges on my project. Any help would be appreciated.
Glad you like the stencil! We use acrylic paint because Patty started painting before Chalk Paint was made ;) We prefer a polyurethane varnish. We like the DecoArt DuraClear Matte Varnish.
We would probably recommend doing a mix. Painting some of the bigger ones very dusty before you paint the letters. Then filling in after you paint the letters.
Do you make your own stencils? If so, what machine do you use? I've looked on Amazon and I can't find a clear cut answer if the Cricut or Silhouette makes them. Thank you
We do! We are a stencil manufacturing company. We use several LARGE lasers. We would recommend getting on UA-cam and looking up making stencils with Cricut or Silhouette. We aren't really sure what your best option would be there.
Yes. This design has a gnome instead of an O. Here’s the link: studior12.com/products/welcome-gnome-tall-porch-sign-stencil-set-cmbn604?_pos=2&_sid=930a84e69&_ss=r
Hey! We use Bullseye to cover the knots on boards. It helps with preventing the knots from bleed through after we've painted. Here's an Amazon Affiliate Link for it. Bulls Eye: amzn.to/3nDL2yD

Hi! Yes, you will prep the same way. Your paint will not be tacky or cool to the touch when it is dry. It does not take very long.
Excellent video🥰 thank you. Being from Canada , I am so glad to see your products available on Amazon

Do you recommend doing the snowflake background before or after the lettering?
We would probably recommend doing a mix. Painting some of the bigger ones very dusty before you paint the letters. Then filling in after you paint the letters.
I know you weren’t using your exact colors as you do now, but what base color of brown do you think would be close? Maybe 44, 17, or a mix of two?
Kari used #17 and the finished product shown in the photograph was done in #37. Hope that helps!
How long do you allow the sealer to dry before painting?
You’ll want to wait until it’s not cold to the touch.
On the brushes like the oval glaze or the round brushes....is the larger number a smaller size? Ex: #10, #8
Yes. We like the 1 inch size the best, which is the largest we offer. It is listed as the 1" on the site.
How much acrylic paint should I get for the lettering?
If you use a quality acrylic paint, like DecoArt, start with a 2oz bottle. Depending on what colors you are using, a 2oz could take care of it.

@@StudioR12Stencils Thank you so much. I've seen the videos on UA-cam and the Cricut Maker 3 seems to be the best option. Thanks again.
