Rick's vocals are insane. It is beyond me how he can shriek like that, come out into a clean with no vocal fry, and suffer no noticeable damage through an entire set of it. Name any aspect of this performance and it's impeccable, but I always fear that guys like Rick won't get their flowers for being amazing vocalists. He may not have the most traditional voice but what he does is so difficult to pull off.
I am always confused as to why his vocal abilities aren’t mentioned more even by people familiar with Pile. 6:42 that recovery out of the scream is a practically impossible feat
Pile is THE best rock band going rn and Magic Isn't Real is a masterpiece. One of the greatest records of a generation and a true DIY triumph. Originally self released and sold through a self financed vinyl pressing?! So sick.
@@JonathanCrain Yea, every album was perfect. Mouse could have had something like this, I saw it in Lonsome, but they just got lazy. I think its more of a job now for Isaac after driving his side band in a wreck while drunk driving on tour.
That song has the trademark Pile "absurdly beautiful moment in the middle of an aggressive banger." It's the bridge. That short passage is just gorgeous. Listen to him play it on acoustic if you haven’t: ua-cam.com/video/MsQy3c_zqHM/v-deo.html
Came here to find a live video of Fidget... did not expect to find this. Thanks so much!! Also, Rick, you gotta have the best scream around. Love you guys.
Same, it was a life changing experience. I remember listened to this album because Spotify recomended to me and I was high and inside my bed, such a great experience. If I were millionaire I would definitely make big this guys.
This album (and Jerk Routine) is so good! The performance was excellent. I wish you all the best and here's hoping for some more songs like these in the future. These songs sure do help me through some bland and boring days standing by a machine in a small factory in nowhere ky. You guys are the best.
does anyone know about the band members? These look like different ones than the members I've seen in older videos. it seemed like the had so much connection
@@josef.david.mushpile yup it is, matt connery on bass and matt becker on guitar, the bass player as of now is Alex Molini (i think i spelled their names right lol).
100% agree. Thanks for voicing my thoughts. Please never wear masks again when playing, dear Pile, they're useless and everyone knows it! Thanks so much for doing this for our listening pleasure and such a top class performance! Love your music. Congratulations with the anniversary!!! 💛🙏🏼 By the way, is Matt, the original bass player, back? 🧐 People are hard to recognize now with these bloody masks. 😂 (17:53 edit: yes, it's Matt! Poor guy, you hear him gasping for air...)

i would love to learn how to do that

Isaac Brock rolling over in his, what would appear to be unkown to him, grave.
@@future6537 modest mouse hasn’t put out a really good album in at least 15 years. Pile has never put out a bad one.

Woot woot!
Recently stumbled onto these guys and they have quickly become one of my favorite bands
This is the exact sort of dystopian place I imagine pile music is made
Boston basements are a utopia
bro's never seen a basement
Whoever mixed this did an incredible job
Words can't quite express my love for this band and their sound. A true treasure
Watching yet again, and have the overwhelming urge to express that this is the greatest live performance ever committed to celluloid. Thank you ❤
Iv'e probably listened to Pets more than any other song ever. Just something about it resonates deeply

The drummer! He's a machine!
You don’t Know Idles?
Would be sick if this was done for every album
brings back fond memories of when these guys would play in our basement in New Brunswick NJ at the Alamo...
Can’t wait to leisurely watch this in the afternoon on my day off today (while real stoned)!!
praise be to Pile
Came here to find a live video of Fidget... did not expect to find this. Thanks so much!!

The energy, the setting, the album
The album that made me understand and connect to most rock music.

Super bummed Ricks show in CT was cancelled last year due to COVID, but this makes up for it a wee bit. Hoping to see them live sooner than later!

Anyone know how they go about getting that sweet ass vocal sound ?
I think Rick Maguire is just really fucking good lol
Yelling
All about that bass, no treble
Shoutout to pile ten years ago at 119 gallery

this is the original lineup. They've had a different lineup since 2017
how the heck do you even recover from that scream what the fuck 16:43
Fuck yes
Where's the digital mosh pit I can throw myself into?
Will this be available forever?

Thank you so much for this guys! You're the best!
I would buy this on vinyl

New guitar player?
Matt Becker, OG Pile guitarist
Like the dude before me said, they had the original lineup play
