OMG, wow, SOLD ! instead of endless noodling on one sound, this is a refreshing fruit salad of soundscapes. Hands down, best moog grandmother UA-cam sound demo !
@@AntonAnru I was probably too fascinated listening so I missed the preset title. Btw, Spiral was the first album with extensive usage of the CS-80. The sequence though was done on a Roland System 100. The Juno didn’t come out until 1982 (I bought one back then) and the album came out in 1977. As for the sequencer he used for the fast 9 note sequence, it’s debated if it was the sequencer module from the 100 system or maybe an ARP sequencer. Only one thing is sure, it had to have more than 8 steps :-).
Damn man, you're able to pull a whole world of sounds out of this little synth, I love it! I just bought a Grandmother today and am itching for it to arrive. I'm trying to pass the time by playing with some Moog VSTs but it's just not the same.
@@AntonAnru Thanks! I got it in today and bought both of your patch collections which has been a great jumping off point, so thanks for putting that together!
there're some additional part to put the timbres into a context. obviously drums, polyphonic parts like keys or pads. I put the names of the presets in each demo song, so you may not be confused where the timbre sounds from
Hey Anton, hope you are doing well and can still access UA-cam right now. Is everything we hear on the patch at 2:50 from the GM? I see DR Rumble. Were you able to create a drum patch on here? If so, we’re you able to record the drum track as a single performance instead of needing to make adjustments for kick, snare, hi-hats? Also is each item you show from the synth recorded on a single track? For example is ARP Morning Dew on one track and BS Lingering recorded on one other? I’m trying to get an idea of how raw these sounds are. Are you adding any external effects to these?
Hello Justin, thank you for the message. Currently I'm fine, UA-cam works. Hope to be here anyway. Drums in this demo track are not from Grandmother. DR - means Drone, not Drum. So, in this example, Drone, Bass, and Arp are from GM, drums are just samples. The timbres/patches are recorded one by one on different tracks and then mixed. Yes, there are some delays/reverbs on the tracks. Raw examples are included to the download pack.
In most cases - yes, unless there's a complex patching. But usually leads and basses do not demand complex patching. In many cases Sub37 can do even more than GM, as it has two full envelopes, more flexible oscs, complex modulations, distortion/drive, filter modes, and lots of parameters hidden under the front panel. You may watch my Sub37 bass and leads videos to see what it can.
After watching many videos I noticed that this synth have only square sound right? Maybe I’m wrong but all the sounds I heard sounds very similar like square sound but with effects as delay, reverb, pitch… but same square sound. I want buy grandmother but I’m wondering if there’s more sounds as access virus or novation peak has.
Hi Anton, would you be able to recommend a good video for understanding sending MIDI CC's from Ableton to the Moog (or anything else for that matter)... I'm struggling to understand it... I see on your pdf for these patches that Gate Length is CC 106, but i can't find that anywhere in the Grandmother manual which is making it harder to understand... I'd be using a Push 2 to control the parameters, if that makes any difference to things... :)

I can't 100% guarantee it at the moment, as I haven't checked it on practice. But in theory, they should work, as Matriarch has everything Grandmother has. I will explore this topic in details soon and make a tutorial about "how to translate GM presets to Matriarch".
well, in general, yes, in case you know Matriarch well, as there're some tiny differences. like arp kb out on GM is not the same as on Matrirch, on Mat you should use cv out on the rear panel. VCA KB RLS Mode can be emulated with 2 envelopes on Mat. HiPass filter will be set in a bit different way... But most of features are exactly the same, so it worth trying

GORGEOUS !!!!! I'm especially a HUGE fan of 5:50, 2:20, 1:40 ... and 23:30 is darknessly great :)
thank you
Bought immediately!!!

The intro sequence immediately reminded me of “Spiral” by Vangelis, just a lot faster. Great sounds!
yes, it's Spiral, the preset has this name. I tried to recreate that famous Juno arp with Grandmother

please i just need one patch is CH Dance Stab
Is there a way for it to sound smooth? It seems squelchy all the time.
Try using low levels in mixer. The filter won't be overdriven
What delay are you using with the GM?
I guess they were the ones by Ableton, soundtoys, Valhalla

what kind of problems do you have with the synth?
do you speak french ? :)

I don't know man.. this bass sounds weak to me. This synth should cost less in my opinion.
We all, as customers, want everything to be cheaper. But as soon as we produce anything, we want our work/salary to be higher
