If their were a contest of who can make/create the most 'frugal' moonshine still, that actually works. You'd of won that contest hands down. Most all the materials were 'used', actually making them free. A few dollars for the copper and putty is all you spent.
You fellas are brave direct heating soda lime glass on direct heat, I'd rig up a double boiler with a Pyrex base filled with sand or even motor oil with some of that bead chain stuff (steal it from the bank pens) holding the pickle jar off of the surface in direct contact with the heat

I wonder if the shine gets any flavor from the putty. The old-school way would be to just mix flour with water and make dough. Worst case scenario, if you even get the slightest flavor from the dough, it's still that grain-flavour your looking for anyway.
It would be preferrable to heat it up slowly, for several reasons. First of all, alcohol evaporates at 77 Celsius (with water evaporating at 100) - so, if I were doing it on a stove like that, I would be riding the heat on and off on the first setting. Otherwise you can a) over-pressurise the run and b) dilute the alcohol by getting water with it. With stilling, "easy does it" really is the attitude you should approach it with.
So wait, water in the pickle jar, water in the middle jar? And boiling both gets you 150 proof?? How does that science work?? I’m so interested in doing this!
Great video a little explaining of what you were using and the steps being taken would of been cool but definitely still a great video and I'm definitely gonna try and make me one of these lol
What kind of putty are you using for the still and I have a idea from watching is there a 3way or 4way connection pipe or valve you could connect 3 or 4 copper lines to and if so then you can take multiple jars and connect them together into one copper line or pipe and produce a lot more white lightning just an idea brother
@@freedomfamily1358 Good thinking with the double boiler method but its not worth the danger bud, any cold water touches the outside of that jar while its distilling and CRACK.....

Bro this is dangerous, you might not wanna try it but if you do make sure there is no open flame around, and yes i used tails in the jar, and the thumper. If you do mash you will not get very much at all. Not sure how long the coil is just use as much as you need to go from the thumper to the end of the milk jug.
I did and it makes the batch with a lot more heads in it. Save the heads and tails for a separate faints run and run it slow. You can extract some hearts better that way bud, hope that helps. Just don't use a glass thumper please.

So instead of the jars tho if we had small copper bowls the size of the jarz with a lid would it be better are does it matter

Weren't you afraid of that jar popping on your stove like that. You guys are crazy! :)
What did u put in the pickel jar to start
Does the glass jar ever break?
Are you worried it might crack as you heat it up? Do you need to warm it up first slowly or can you take it immediately to the highest heat setting?
If you heat it slowly it will be fine,
It would be preferrable to heat it up slowly, for several reasons. What do you put in each jar? Just water? And your vegi or fruit?
I never realized how good pickles were by themselves in bulk.
What do you put in each of the jars ?
Tails
What size line did u use?
Good luck getting a reply cuz it'll never happen

Philbilly. Can you help me build a glass jar pickle still for my essential oils please? Thank you
Genius
I'm new to moonshining where should the mash go
I was so sketched thinkin that jar was gonna heat n break there bubba
Cool idea. I’d be afraid the pickle jar would break on direct heat
Thats why they had it in water so its more like a double boiler method

They are trained professionals
I agree but was thinking it could shatter/explode on direct heat like that.
@ytmas0n_5708 LOL!!!
What in the small mason jar?
How many times will this boil without shattering the pickle jar?
For Philbilly it took 4 🤣🤣
Possibly 0 possibly forever
What is the Guage called you used to cheak the proof ?
YALL REMIND ME OF MYSELF 😂😂😂
Didya go blind? If not I'm collecting supplies. I brewed beer for over 30 yrs at home. Always wanted to try distilling.
Have you used this pickle jar directly on a burner several times? I thought glass directly on heat would break.
It does after so many heat cycles
What recipe do u use for that still
How many times did you break a jar figuring out the right temperature on the stove??
ran it 3 times until a drop of water came through the top and hit the glass and messy messy lol.

how much heads do u toss and how much will a 1gallon container yield and how full can u fill it..??????
So I gota question I’ve heard the first like 5 ounces is bad and you have to throw that out is that true are what is the correct ounces
I believe it depends on the amount you’re doing, 5 gal would have more heads than a 1 gal.
what sized pipe?
What did u put in that smaller jar. I know u put water in in the big jar. What's in the smaller jar

What were you distilling? Must have been vodka already
Just use the right size drill bit
