The biggest, most intimidating and quote, ‘enormous’ man they’d ever lay eyes on. Those in the cells who have murdered before looked upon him in fear and wonder. Yet, he be the most kindest, sensitive and compassionate of all. Innocent of the crime accused of yet still condemned to die. Attempted to save lives and viewed to have killed. Suffering for those around him. And possesses the ability to cure illness and death.
This masterpiece of a film truly is one of a kind. None compare

i just finished watching it for the first time a few hours ago. i bawled my eyes out, cant lie. the way the acting was done, the portrayal of unique characters alike, ive never seen a movie this touching. normally movies dont even get my attention, as i find them boring, but this time i beg to differ. the way everything was done, sheesh you wanted to slap percy so hard, hug paul forever and bring john back if you could. now i cant even give my thanks to michael amymore for his brilliant portrayal, but i know its not too late now to say hes in heaven, up there. may he rest in peace. :)

In the end, John Coffey WANTED to die, and was for a good reason. From what we hear from him before his execution, he told us of something that really bothered him. What was bothering him, was Man's tension and hatred for each other. It felt like that it was like pieces of glass, tearing right into him. He wanted to go to be with God the Father, where he knew in his heart, that the absolute hatred that some people feel for one another, and that affected him, would be forever gone. He knew that, with God the Father, there was only love, joy, peace, and happiness, forevermore! He wanted to go to be with Jesus...and I believe that he got his wish granted, the moment that the Executioner pulled the switch, and sent lethal jolts of electricity coursing through his body.
At that moment, he became absent from the body, and present with God the Father, at least in Spirit.
One sweet day, the body of John Coffey will come out of the Grave, and be reunited with John's Spirit, and then it will become a Glorified Body, never to die no more!

This is my favorite movie. The casting, the acting, the music, it’s all great! I’m currently reading the book and it’s great too so far (about 1/3 of the way through). I guess that’s why this showed up in my recommendations, but man I love this movie!

Obviously a movie with the kind of magical realism that this one has means a solid suspension of disbelief up front. What that means, however, is our suspension of disbelief for the purely realistic.
For example, the "hellraiser" on death row for killing three people worked for the man whose daughters were raped and murdered. That's a line of enquiry missed.

I am astounded by the level of numerology and symbolism in the movie for instance THe Green Mile = 6+4+3 =13, and Michael Clarke Duncan died 13 years after the 1999 move: a story that depicts the story of the sacrifice of Jesus so succintly.
