    Notes (timestamps are this way so chapters aren't broken):
    At 8;05, I imply that Worlds 5 and 6 take you to World 8, which is false. They take you to the second row, which means you can go to World 6 and warp backwards to World 5. In the Japanese version, a fourth warp whistle is available to collect in 5-1, which means you can theoretically play the game forever.
    At 24;18, I mention that Mario's subpixel position cannot be set to any specific value other than at the very start of the run. This is not entirely accurate. It is possible to set up a subpixel value, but the latest point it could be set at is the previous Boom Boom fight, which wouldn't help for the wall jump. However, it is used in other categories to set up a wall clip in the first room of Bowser's Castle for the 5-second slower route.
    Chapters:

    The thing about speed running is that every “unbreakable barrier” eventually gets broken, either better gameplay or new strategies.
    I fully believe in the next 2-3 years speed runners will be approaching 10:39

    • @TheGerkuman
      @TheGerkuman 3 роки тому +3

      The closest TAS category to this does it in 10:24.340, but it almost certainly involves some time saves that are beyond the human limit. But clearly not all of them are. I think that there will be a barrier hit eventually, unless new techniques are found, but there's definitely room to beat this one.

    • @skyehoppers2
      @skyehoppers2 3 роки тому +8

      Eventually sure, but 2-3 years is way too soon. This record was set almost two years ago already and nobody has made a serious attempt to beat it since. And getting to 10:39 will take several new records, each one bringing it down by a small amount. I'd say 10:39 is at least 5 years away at a minimum.

If you land right on the top pixel of the block, then you can Wall jump, or if you collide with the wall up to 4 more pixels lower, the game will snap you up to the top of the block and you can still WJ. So 5 Y pixels in total.

My first time watching your vids and have subscribed for more, but just wanted to share that bit of feedback because it came off as contradictory and unnecessary (although I imagine you meant it to be informative, adding "However"would have been clearer).
