1950 Tonka Utility Truck COE Semi Hauler Restoration 4K

- I purchased this 1950 Tonka Utility COE Semi Truck off eBay May of 2022 for a total of $121.48 after tax and shipping. I've been looking for one of these original stake bed style trucks for awhile and wanted to add it to my collection. This one stood out to me due to the colors. I really like the fact it had a green chassis, red cab and a yellow box. You just don't see them often this way, I honestly thing someone may have changed the cab top at one time?? Does anyone know if they came factory in this color combo? Either way, I was glad to see this toy being complete minus the chain that runs across the back of the bed. I really enjoy the way this one came out. I reused my tire mold from the video of my 1948 Tonka Toy Transport Semi Restoration which you can check out at this link • 1948 Tonka Toy Transpo...
Thanks soo much for watching!!

I never knew Tonka made so many different vehicles. I loved playing with Tonka. When you restore a Tonka, you make them better than new.
I appreciate how you actually restore the toys. Many people modify them and call it restoration when they are really modding. You restore true to original which keep me watching the channel.
Those wheels came up nicer than i expected after the sand cleaner. and then the chrome stove enamel just made them like new!
Nice restoration, Tonka would be proud!
It does not get anymore professional or detailed or state of the art than this ...Mind blowing craftmanship
I turn on to watch restoration and see a sheep beating up a cat. Got to be the best restoration channel!
I enjoy your show and I remember some of the toys I am 71 yrs old
I always get very impressed how you have the tools for absolutely everything. Magnificent job 🤩
The kitty is the real reason to watch these videos, imo. The satisfying restoration is just a bonus. :)
A spectacular job of restoring every single piece in this massive project. What is even more impressive to me though, is the masterpiece of video editing done to make this process look so smooth and seamless.
Very pretty. Human does work. Beaker gets the treats. Perfection!
When the tow truck pulls up they must think , he's chosen me , he's chosen me . Love all your restorations.
good morning @chip channel restoration
Good morning Destroyer (Wolf)!!!
Absolutely the best Chanel by far for this type of restoration, makes the others look amateurs,
Each time you change colors do you have to clean the paint sprayer. You really make the these old toys beautiful again. The I am so glad there are people like yourself that preserve the past.
I see the sheep have been rolling in catnip … Beaker wouldn’t do that without reason…
Sweet restoration - you do have a special talent. Thank you for sharing!
you did a great job restoring the utility truck.
so glad i found this channel its the best therapy from a shitty days work a man could ask for
I was thinking that was an older model truck. Cool it's from the 50's.
Love your videos
Thanks Soo much Andy Close!!
Big kitty is so funny and pretty. I love your channel Chip.
Beautiful truck, flawless restoration, Say hello to Pussykins from me. ❤
Oh my word, that looks fabulous Chip.
And the cat is beautiful too.
I dont know what you do for a living but you have stunning clean hands. Many thanks from South Africa
Another reason why i love this is because it reminds me of Gumby and all the vintage toys
Stripy cats are the best 🐈 💕
My only problem with your channel is that it’s so relaxing I can’t stay awake!! I will be in the middle of a video and next thing I know I wake up and I’m in the middle of an entirely different video. But I always go back and catch up. This is a good problem to have. Love your channel.
Расцветка светофор, привлекает внимание и очень нравится детям. Отличная работа, кошка не может ошибаться.
Thank you!
Truly amazing. You just know somewhere in the world, the little boy that played with that on his birthday is now an old man and would smile to see it, perfectly restored. Thanks for sharing. It makes me smile anyway.
The primary colors ,red and yellow, and secondary color, green. Looks great!
I love the color combo!! Thanks for watching Elizabeth Faraone!
And another project receives the kitty cat sniff of approval!
Just got home from work and wanted to watch you restore another awesome old toy, greatt Job
Another great video. I am sure I am not the only one who would appreciate/enjoy seeing a tour of your shop and tools. It would be enjoyable to see where you create your magic. Thank
I love the part where the prehistoric saber-toothed tiger comes in and destroys the sheep...awesome video
cute touch that you used the tow truck with the same frame and cab as the truck that's being restored.
Top Marks, excellent to see great old toys brought back to life.
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
Morning! Slim WantedMan!!
Until I seen your videos I always wanted to learn the process of powder coating. Thank you chip !!!
I used to work at a coating parts company and I asked for a position in the coating area, they told me it was a men's job, now I regret I didn't insist.
Nice to see a new video up on a Sunday morning before breakfast. Makes my day brighter! The colors of the truck go together quite well IMO. and the new rivet tool works great ! Can't wait to see what is next on your agenda. Outstanding as always.
Thanks soo much Steve Wright! I really love the color combo of this one!
Beautiful restoration. Awesome collection. 😻😻😻
Thank you so much 😀

Your inspector is a Pretty Kitty !
Watching 2nd time around, sorry I press the like button again. Love your workmanship.
Missed "cannot" before press.
You are so talentive! Thanks
Thank you! 😊
Clever little tool for doing the wheel hubs....
Thanks!! I'm thinking about perfecting it and selling them so other restorers can use them!
Oh one more thing. I am new to UA-cam, can you tell me how to donate money to your UA-cam account. Thanks again Dan
* Love your channel ! It's so relaxing watching you cherry out the toys from my childhood. Got ya this time though ... The door stickers are crooked ... 🤭
The skills required to restore this veteran Tonka Coe truck are absolutely brilliant and love the bright colours. The technological and metallurgy knowledge you have are incredible.🙏
Outstanding! I doubt it looked any better when that first lucky little boy pulled it out of the box. I was born in 1951 (thus am from approximately the same time frame as this toy) and would have LOVED to have gotten a truck like that. Alas we were too poor. You do great work. Keep it up
I watch your videos all day as often as possible. Your awesome !
Beautiful Restore Better then when it came from the Factory they did not have Power Coat Back then 👍
I thought this was the only restoration channel, I happened to watch another one but I didn't like it. This channel is the best.
Just discovered your channel, brilliant. Without a doubt the best on you tube for restoration and to top it off, NO damn super anoying music. Think you for a great post. Andy from New Zealand.
Your a lucky lucky lucky man, i could quite happily spend my days doing this, the satisfaction must be tremendous. Loving the posts i have recently come acrosd
You have a beautiful cat
Awesome restoration
Thank you! James!!
Another fabulous restoration. 👍👍👍
My cat inspects all the work in my shop too. This was some job, beautiful. You get the decals straighter than the factory did. Must have been some place to work when they made these.
I love watching your content! I love how you bring back these wonderful toys! Watching them have life again is so cool. I watched another video and you asked how to get the bubbles out of the rubber for the tires. After you get it all put in the mold before you place it in the high pressure pot, pick it up and give it a few gentle taps on the table. The tapping would force the bubbles to pop. Just an idea for you. :)
Love the channel , very nice build.
Beautiful and masterfully done.
Thank you. I admire your collection.
You are one talented articulate man.
Another museum quality resto!!
Looks like Beaker has taken charge of the sheep!😁 It's really cool how your now able to fabricate the tires.
Another good job there again Chip, the truck is ready to roll again
The itsy bitsy spider saw what was coming, and ran for his life! 1:20.
If you really want to get rid of the bubbles in the tires, I suggest getting some sort of vibrating platform and putting the mold on it for several minutes while wet. This in theory will "shake" the bubbles out. A similar thing is done with concrete where they put vibrators in the wet mud to excite the bubbles to the surface. I think you should try that before redesigning the molds...
Your skill is second to none man!
Those tires look amazing. Looks like you perfected your method. 👍🏼😊
Thanks John Williams, they are definitely getting closer, I'm still seeing some bubbles which I believe I'll need to redesign the mold to get rid of. Thanks again!!

This is absolutely wonderful. This is a gift and it blows me away to see the amount of time spent on one toy. Thanks for doing this!😊
Outstanding work!! Love to watch! I remember playing with some of these toys as a kid. Keep it going!
i really enjoyed the restoration. feeling happy when complete the job. you work on all details of parts. then after job become a perfect.
Thank you Yakub Patel!!!
Great work …better than when it was first made !
Absolutely beautiful restoration Olemate all the best 🇦🇺
Dang you Chip, after watching all your Tonka restoration videos your subliminal messaging ate into my brain. I ended up purchasing a Ford F-150 Tonka edition two weeks ago. I love it as much as I love your channel. Thanks for making me feel like a kid again.
Good so far 👏 I will finish watching later, Very nicely done 👍🏻
Too beauty's thanks for sharing your talent and cat Doug
Always great work,,and amazing vidio,,,👌👍
What a beautiful restoration as always!!! All the best to you and your family from Russia, Moscow!
Another beautiful restoration! Always good to see your answer to challenges like the wheel grommets. Between your replacement tires and tool you made for the grommets you’ve got it down to a science!
28:36 THIS IS A SALES INSPECTOR
She was way more interested in the crane string this time
@@ChipChannelRestorations she interested in eat 😂😂😂
Yeeesss I love watching the paint in the oven
Might I suggest using magnets instead of bolts to hold your mold together, and a mold release agent would make things easier as well. Great video as always, thanks.
WOW awesome transformation!
wow!!!! wow!!!! master work, master job!!! greetings!!!
Just stunning !!! Toys were real art !! You sir are a master craftsman …..thank you so much for sharing 🙏👍👍
Beaker be like "Give me more treats hooman"

Man, sometimes I just don’t have words I’m just thinking thats sick, like awesome man like I’m a teenager!
I love this channel. I am just amazed at the end product. I am not a toy collector or anything like that, but I really appreciate the time and effort that you put into every toy. They are truly a work of art and this little Tonka Truck was no exception. Well done!
FANTASTIC JOB!!😀👍
LOVE the channel/ the marvelous restorations and "Beaker!"
Great vids! Been watching from the start, love anything from the 50s or 60s just wish toys were still made the way they were back then instead of all cheap plastic
say hi to Bill and Ted ....
@@timfremstad3434 You're literally the only one who got the reference lol
Cool tool to avoid marking the wheel when you put the tire! Love your channel.
Great addition to your collection. I look forward to each new episode! Impressive skill set you have! Would be interesting if you would post actual time in the description. Keep waiting to see a press brake where you decide a new body, etc is required :) Great job Chip!!!!
Thanks soo much Dave! I've got some exciting new equipment coming that may allow some additional new pieces to be made on hand, super excited about it! Thanks soo much for watching! This one I had somewhere between 35-40 hours into it.
Amazing transformation!
