November Rain is the second song in an unofficial trilogy of Guns N' Roses ballads. The first is "Don't Cry" and the third is "Estranged". Nobody actually died in real life, but the stories of the songs/videos symbolize certain relationships in Axl's life ending. The songs beg the question(s), "what now...where do we go from here?" All highly recommended, hard to pick a favorite!
@@kerenolivero7097 That's why I said "unofficial trilogy". The videos were based on a short story by Axl's friend Del James called "Without You", but Del got the inspiration for the story in the first place when Axl called him up in the middle of the night venting to Del about his doomed marriage. Everyone thinks of the songs themselves as a trilogy now because it's impossible not to think of them that way after you've seen and understood the videos. Plus, they are the power ballads of the Use Your Illusion albums and very different from the other songs on that double album.
This is a phenomenal song by a fantastic group, the first time this video was on UA-cam, it reached 2 billion views, and then was removed for some reason, then was reuploaded, and doing brilliantly again.
This isn't a true story but the bride is Stephanie Seymour, an ex-girlfriend of Axl Rose (the singer) and they had a problematic relationship. the Slash solo outside the church is one of the most iconic scene in the rock history and this videoclip was considered one of the best ever made and you can see it by the huge production. also, this song is a part of a song-trilogy: 1) Don't Cry 2) November Rain 3) Estranged I highly suggest you to react to the other two, they are also beautiful song! What can you say when you combine a kickass band, an orchestra and the song. Throw in an epic 46 second guitar 🎸 solo by the one and only Slash and the music video, well ya got a beautiful harmony and spectacular piece of History in the making.
This is the second of a trilogy of videos, and is preceded by "Don't Cry" and followed by "Estranged" and is based on a short story, "Without You" by Del James. That's Axl playing the piano, and his "wife" is Stephanie Seymour, whom he was dating at the time. If you liked this definitely check out the other two, especially "Estranged" which is a more complicated song and video and shows the aftermath of this video.
The church at first is huge in an urban area , whem Slash comes out of it during his solo's the Church is tiny and in a desolate area. Also the refrain of the song talks about needing time alone but the second refrain is about needing someone.
Check out the Live in Tokyo, GNR were so good live during that time, the intro is a 5 minute piano play by Axl, wicked. And live they had absolutely wonderful female backing singers
I can explain this video... It's all just a nightmare. It's why the tiny chapel turns into a massive cathedral once he goes inside. Recall at the beginning that Axl is struggling to sleep, and he takes some type of medication before lying down. The reason we don't see what happens to the bride is because it doesn't matter how she dies. It's a dream- things don't make sense in dreams; they jump from scene to scene without events ever being fully disclosed to us. It illustrates Axl's innate defense mechanism to never allow himself to completely love a woman because he believes he'll ultimately end up being the source of her demise. That's why the chorus is, "Don't you think that you need somebody? Everybody needs somebody." His subconscious is warning his sleeping mind that he'll only end up alone if he continues obeying his defense mechanism to never fully open himself out of fear of rejection, and potential loss.
Music and video went hand in hand during the 80s and 90s… (perhaps longer, but I was busy). Good times. GnR grabbed the zeitgeist of the late 80s early 90s. The bridge between eighties hairbands and Grunge. If you care to take a dare and see them at their wildest, hungriest (in video) form, check out their official video for “It’s So Easy”.
This music video reportedly cost $1.5 Million to produce... Something that will likely never happen nowadays, given how low record sales are in 2024. Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses demanded a huge budget for the music video and featured his then-girlfriend supermodel Stephanie Seymour in it... He demanded the same for the sequel music video for 'November rain' - the single 'Estranged'... which concluded the music video trilogy that started w/ the Guns N' Roses single "Don't cry".

Ah shit. Here we go. This song always gets me. Broke up with my girlfriend years ago in october but the november that came after was the darkest period of this phase. Also one of the best Guns 'N Roses songs ever made! To me at least.
Hi you beautiful Maggie. In fact no one in this band knew that Axl actually could play a piano so it was surprise to them too. Although usually most of the players start with a piano and not with a guitar or a violin as it is more user friendly at the beginning.
Hi Maddy! The range of emotions you can experience with music is wide, and when you add a video presentation it oftentimes changes the affect. I think it's a bit ironic that sections of music are called movements. Thank You for being you! ✌️☮️🎸🤙🤟💪🔥❤️
At 6:27 when the two are in the car, and leaving. It always looks to me as if the bride isn't happy to be married, almost as if she regrets it, or was pressured into the marriage. She doesn't look happy, but he does in that moment. Either that's just the way it happened as they were filming, or it's an element of symbolism purposely put into the narrative.
Noooooo, the wedding was not a dream. It was real too. She committed suicide on the night of the wedding due to Axl's cheating. Watch the bridesmaid snigger during this video at the wedding. That's why she had such doubts and looked miserable for most of the video. I read that recently and it makes sense if you watch 'Don't Cry'.

When the tone changes and Slash slowly steps up on top of a grand piano to rip a massive solo is one of the coolest moments in rock video history.
