    This was a great video Tom, thanks a lot!
    For a recent project (you know what I'm talking about 😉) I had the pleasure of driving a 365 GTC/4 and a 365 GT4 2+2 in fairly quick succession and it was surprising how much more focussed and sporty the GTC feels, even though mechanically they are almost identical.
    The GTC/4 has always been underrated because people tend to go for the most extreme, which of course is the GTB/4 (Daytona). The car even received the nickname "Il Gobbone" which means the hunchback, but with a much lower production number - 500 compared to more than 1,400 Daytonas - the GTC/4 deserves a lot more credit. It is nice to see there are people out there, like yourself, who appreciate these cars for what they are, great GTs from a bygone era.

      The GT4 definitely feels larger and heavier than the GTC/4. The seats in the GT4 feel and look like overstuffed comfortable lounge chairs while the GTC/4 has less padding and looks more like a sport seat. That difference seems to reflect each of the car’s mannerisms. I think the Daytona is more aggressive looking, but the C/4 has some pretty lines. Darker colors also hide the black bumpers!

    wow the sound when you really pushed it from 11:40-12:05 is just sublime.. These cars pretty inexpensive compared to other Ferraris from same 1967-1973 era. Thanks Tom

    I just love this model! The look, the sound, the power. Having the 6 additional butterflies really makes a difference over its predecessor. Two additional camshafts also helps.

      @@tomyangnet Awesome. At 12 minutes when you wound her out a little that was class GT V12. Interesting about the chain length, how about the gearbox? How different is it to the GTB/4 as isn’t that a dog-leg and this regular H? Are they the same with different internals or different all together if at all? Love this car. They built around 31 I think UK RHD and remember mint ones being £30k years back now they’re 2-300. Any depth of info is cool on these

      @@Boyzee355 the GTB/4 is a transaxle, so it sits at the rear of the car putting a little more weight towards the back of the car. The GTC/4 has a conventional 5 speed transmission attached to the back of the engine. Both cars have torque tubes.

    Thanks for the ride! I only wish i could have done it in person but i'm too far away for that. I had the chance, in the early 70's, to purchase a series 1 330 GT 2+2 but didn't do it. I think it was $12,000 or so and was above what i could afford. I was scared off by parts replacement (I think a rear window or tail light was $500 or so, which was a lot back then). I've heard that everyone should have a ride in a 12 cylinder car and this is as close for me to do that. Thank you.

      Some people may consider this as a hinderance, but old cars speak to you. They tell you when they’re cold, they tell you when they’re not, they tell you when your skill at driving them is not up to par. Modern cars work without the same kind of communication. On a nice drive, I prefer an old car too! Thanks for watching.

    • @tomyangnet
      @tomyangnet  3 роки тому +1

    The GTC4 is a very underrated Ferrari...not liked by many, kinda like my Mondial. Nevertheless, they are a dark horse (no pun intended) and in my opinion are better looking than the Daytona. Yes...I know what I just wrote to many will be heresy, but it's just my opinion. They truly are a beautiful car. Love seeing the back road countryside there too. Grazie Tom.

    • @tomyangnet
      @tomyangnet  3 роки тому +2

      I’ve put a lot of miles behind the wheel of the 365GTC/4 on several road trips, and find them very comfortable. One trip was done with a Daytona, and we ended carrying all his extra luggage because we had more space!
      Mechanically they’re a bit of a pain (literally) to work on, especially the distributors which are tucked way under the dash!
      Thanks for watching!

      @redmr2na Рік тому

      Not at all. I used to love the looks of the Daytona... but as I matured, I started to love the looks of the GTC4 better. I always thought these cars were a better link between the 275 and BB boxer. Also, as a person who knows a long time, Mondial owner, Mondials are awesome. There is nothing wrong with a Mondial. If I had my choice of 80s Ferrari, the Mondial would be my choice. It's fun and plenty fast. Honestly, they're probably the world's most honest Ferrari. All the more expensive and faster ones are just playthings for the rich. The 400i is a good car, too. That is plaqued with the same problem as the Mondial.

    • @susannero6401
      @susannero6401 Рік тому +1

      In the US, the aesthetics of the GTC4 may have been unfairly hurt by the fact that its distinctive rear window design was copied by the Chevy Monza, an otherwise uninspired design. I confess that I cannot 'unsee' the Monza when I look at these. But it is objectively beautiful (even though I would stop short of putting it over the Daytona).
      Oh, and Mondials rule :)

    Thanks for the video, Tom. How much does the performance of this car differ from a 365GT 2+2?

    • @tomyangnet
      @tomyangnet  3 роки тому +3

      The four cam engine of the C/4 revs more freely. It feels more compact than the Queen. The 365GT 2+2 feels a little more like a vintage car from the 60s, while the C/4 feels like it’s from the 70s. Both cars are fun to drive, but just represent different eras. I hope that makes sense.

    • @DogsandDoubles
      @DogsandDoubles 3 роки тому

      @@tomyangnet Thanks. Does the C4 have issues? I've always wondered why it hasn't appreciated like the other 365s. Is it just the car's looks/ funky '70s vibe?

    • @tomyangnet
      @tomyangnet  3 роки тому +1

      @@DogsandDoubles it’s a little mechanically complicated, and a 2+2, so it doesn’t appreciate as much as the 2 seaters. The large front rubber bumper doesn’t help either!

  • @matthewlange8616

    I love the GTC4, my Dad had two of them (RHD and LHD eurospec versions) and racked up thousands of miles driving them around Europe. Funnily enough one of his gripes was the brake pedal felt very soft on both cars.he had the brakes upgraded to resolve that.
    I’m curious if this car also has his other main gripe of a whine from the gearbox between 60-70 mph when in 5th gear. Both of his GTC4’s had that so assuming it is inherent in the design?

    • @tomyangnet
      @tomyangnet  3 роки тому +3

      There is a rubber disc inside the booster that can affect the sensitivity of the brakes, but all the C/4s I’ve driven seemed fine. This car’s transmission is a little louder than others, but not all of them are noisy.
      Thanks for watching.
