      @@Tom_in_CA Study openings and analyse your games! Also one thing that helped me a lot, try to spot your mistakes during playing but aslo when you analyze your games so you can correct yourself from falling into traps and stuff

    I looked up London Knight Chess and found a web page saying that they meet at 1pm on Sundays at London Runners 130 Druid Stret SE1. I recognised the location in this video. I went there on Sunday 25th Feb and there was no chess being played! When you next visit London, I would recommend the cafe in the middle of Holland Park. There is a thriving chess community there during summer months

    Great video Anna! Enjoying the narrated format. About the question of why it seems like you move faster in rapid vs blitz? I think is because of the ratio of time spent thinking and clock time. For example, if you spend 1 minute thinking before a move in a 10 min rapid game, that only uses 10% of your clock time. Whereas In blitz, that same 1 minute in a 3 min blitz game already takes up 1/3 of your clock time. Frank seems like a really pleasant person to be around and a good sport. Yes, please show the rest of the tournament.

    I said it on your Spanish channel and I'll say here too, I was really sad you did not win the Best Chess Streamer, it seemed kind of unfair to have Tyler1 as a nominee there, I think they should regulate that and put at least a range of streaming hours/days to be elegible for a category, anyways, love your content, it is great, you and Levy inspired me to play, I have never played chess seriously prior to this year, but so far its been almost 2 months of playing daily and studying some theory too thanks to you, greetings from Colombia.

    i prefer the smaller board with edited arrows while you explain, it's super easy to follow.
    also, we get to see more live footage including your occasional goofy smiles and commentary about your goofy smiles!

      Yeah, it also incentives desperate attempts to "accidentally" cheat - because there is a tiny probability that you will get away with it.

      @@Raugturi I love the story GM Finegold told about him looking at a game kids were playing in a club, asking "where are your kings though?" and getting a nonchalant response of "we exchanged them a long time ago".

    Even without the illegal move you have an easy win with Rxc8, defending your queen via x-ray. He can't play Qxc8 due to Nxf5+ winning both bishop and queen.

      It would be the end of the game right then and there. At best, they could call an arbiter but he/she would have to declare it a win in his favor. Illegal move = instant loss.

      Me too. Also when you played Rook C1, Stockfish seemed not to like it. What would've the favoured computer move? (I don't know how to access Stockfish).

      Not sure about rapid, but in tournament blitz, doing an illegal move is an instant loss.

    If an illegal move is legal if the opponent does not realize it, it should be possible to win the king without checkmate.

    Yes, well done: that's how it works, you have to ask or say so, else it doesn't count,....just like in cricket: LBW cannot be given unless it is asked for. The request is, strictly speaking: "How was that?"
    In chess, saying: "Check," is necessary, or the moment can pass...

      It really feels like playing an illegal move should get you disqualified no matter what, even late after the fact.

    13:20 Before the illegal move. When black play Kg7, engine show white winning by a lot.
    I guess next move should be Rc8 capturing the rook. If black take with queen you can do Ke8 check and capture the queen,
    and if he trade queens, you still have an extra rook

      I think you can trade Queens, take the bishop with your knight, and run the pawn up giving you a Rook & Queen vs Rook endgame, or Rook vs no rook maybe...

      No no no, Rxc8 is much stronger, winning a full rook. Black can't recapture Qxc8 due to Nxf5 double check.

    Rules of chess : If the opponent does not claim and the arbiter does not intervene, the illegal move shall stand and the game shall continue.
    Once the opponent has made his/her next move, an illegal move cannot be corrected unless this is agreed by the players without intervention of the arbiter.
