  • In this Whiteboard Series video, Dr. J. Michael Bennett discusses the anatomy of the elbow and the placement of the ulnar nerve. He describes how cubital tunnel syndrome can result from compression of the ulnar nerve in the elbow and he describes cubital tunnel syndrome treatments. The ulnar nerve is located behind the medial epicondyle and there's a band of tissue in that area that can squeeze the nerve and keep the blood flow from getting to the nerve. The nerve can become irritated and can even become scarred.
Dr. Bennett also talks about transient cubital tunnel syndrome, which may be caused by sleeping with bent elbows and wrists curled. Treatment might involve anti-inflammatories and a night splint, which might be an elbow pad worn to prevent flexing the elbow. Please check the video to see how the elbow pad is worn. You might also use a towel on the inside of your elbow held in place by Ace wrap.
Dr. Bennett also describes what can happen if these symptoms are ignored. If you have questions, please call our office at 281-633-8600.
