If you’re going through comments, wishing someone has found a solution for elbow popping, stop here for a second. I have popping in my left elbow. It is not THAT severe. I fell during a basketball game and that was that. I have had it since about 3 years ago and it looks like it’s not gonna leave soon. It used to pop while doing push ups, pullups. Dips were completly out of idscussion. I have gone through all comments of most of the videos on this subject on youtube whishing I could find something other than surgery. For me, I found an exercise that functioned really well. That is the „glasses” exercise. You make an „ok” sign with your right hand, for example, turn it upside down and put that onto your right eye. You’ll se example of this exercise on videos on youtube. I did this exercise for a few days.. now and then. After about 2 weeks, I could do dips almost no problem. During push ups and pullups it does not pop anymore. With dips, it still pops every now and then, but it is the technique I still have to work on to fully eliminate it. But I CAN DO DIPS without popping and pain for the most part. I had almost lost any hope. This is a miracle for me. And this is only the start. I included this exercise in my warm up routine. I strongly believe that if I continue to do this exercise regularly, I will not have problems whatsoever with training. ( I am not sure about weighted calisthenics and lifting weights though. But at this point, I am really content with being able to do calisthenics with no limitations). Wish you all the best!

@@yazzindev It's called popping elbow syndrome. The main culprit for me is leaning on my elbow while sitting/driving and sleeping with my arm tucked under the pillow while side-sleeping. Lifestyle changes are the biggest fix. I also had some ulnar nerve issues from forward leaning and the nerve getting compressed in my neck. Strengthening my neck with a weighted neck harness and focusing on posture is helping that.

Hi, I armwrestle as a hobby and got injured when my hand was supinated palm up position and it went side ways (externally rotated). I felt something jerked or moved around my elbow and it has been 7 months and I still can't find the problem. The most pain comes when I try to internally rotate my arm while bent (45 degree and below) and/or with ulnar deviation and with wrist flexion. My entire hand and arm will shake with weakness when applying pressure this way. Could it be the ulnar nerve compression or tendon issue.

I get more finger stiffness, hand weakness, and forearm cramping and fatigue, rather than numbness, tingling, and pain. Though, I do occasionally get a small amount of pain and tingling in that ulnar dermatome.
I’ve had this a few times, and in both arms. What helped more than anything is bracing at night, and keeping a very relaxed and proper posture while working at the computer. Minimize bending the elbows. It helps far more than the stretches and exercises, at least for me.
I get very high anxiety levels which leads to extreme muscle tension. I tense up my shoulders and arms, and I think this compresses and irritates the nerve.

Thank you for sharing this. It highlights a couple very important messages. First, the symptoms with nerve irritation can really vary depending of the severity of the nerve compression. Move your arm to the back of your body instead of the front, making the shoulder more under you and getting more weight but also stretching on an useful way, you can also move the other shoulder to the opposite side to increase stretch, is not that confortable to be at first, but it immediatly "wake up" your pinky/hand/arm

Another situation is when I'm using the computer I tend to support my elbolws bent 90 degrees on my chair, this causes tingling and a bit of pain along my forearm and pinky, what do you reccomend in terms of positioning when working on the computer, should I try to maintain the elbows straight with the keyboard and mouse as far away as possible?

@@aiv9570 I’m actually a 67 year old woman lol. However, my husband trigger pointed and massaged my back, especially above and around the scapula. He did this on two days with a rest day in between. Then I triggered pointed my entire arm and concentrated on the forearm and especially on the same side of my pinky finger (it was my left wrist and finger.) I could feel a thickening on the capsule just above my wrist on the same side as the pinky. Then I kept on a wrist support for a few days. I tried to keep my wrist in the anatomical position. This was a bit challenging because I do big cooking with large pots. I also used 1kg weights plus these exercises. The pain totally disappeared after about a month. Every time I feel the pain in my wrist I wear a wrist support. Just a cheap elastic support I bought at the chemist and I cut a hole in it for my thumb. Hope this helps.

Hey doctor I love to play games on my keyboard and resting my arm on my gaming chair. My elbow does not hurt and I can do all these exercises no problem, but my ring finger and my pinky finger are tingly or numb. Do you believe that if buy a brace I would be able to recover from this. Weight lifting is my life so I need to know.

Just another guy out there with bad ulnar nerves, but one thing I think is important to note is that these movements shouldn't really be about stretching the ulnar nerve. These are nerve gliding movements which are meant to allow the nerve to glide back and forth through the channels that guide it through the arm. You can imagine it like a rubber band in a straw. If the rubber band swells because it becomes inflamed or irritated, or it sticks to the inside of the straw (ulnar nerve adhesions), then you will experience symptoms when moving in a certain way that puts tension on the nerve because it can't move through the straw as well as it should.
Performing these movements regularly over time is supposed to help the nerve glide through these channels normally. You should perform them up until you feel tension but no further, not like a conventional stretch when stretching a muscle and you are supposed to push past the point of tension a bit. I find that performing the movements like this daily has done better for me. When I first started doing them and treated them like normal stretches, my pain worsened almost immediately.
Definitely talk to a doctor though, 3 years is a long time and nerve damage takes forever to heal unlike bones, muscles, and other things in the body. You definitely don't want to get to the point where muscle wasting occurs.

From my side, the pain and symptoms are considerably decreasing during the day if I workout my triceps. When I have too much symptoms, I do 5 sets of Dumbell Overhead Triceps Extension with 20-25 reps, even with only 5 kg dumbells, and after only one workout, it lets me without symptoms for several days. I assume that if I keep this simple workout 1x-2x per week; I will almost get rid of daily symptoms.
