I have decided to ditch my diesel car and use an electric vehicle. In this case, a Tesla Model 3.
Electric cars now offer a liberating range, sometimes reaching up to 300 miles. The UK government provides a plug-in grant, an electric vehicle home charge scheme, and zero vehicle excise duty, all of which contribute to your newfound freedom and independence.
For company car drivers, there's a significant financial advantage with a low benefit-in-kind rate. Even employees can benefit from salary sacrifice, providing a secure and reassuring financial situation.
The congestion charge is only in London, and electric vehicles are exempt. There are also hybrid vehicles, but these usually have a low range when running on electric alone, and you also have the expenses with a combustion engine, such as servicing.
Depreciation is pretty good in 2021, but this could change.
There are also challenges in where you can charge and at what cost.
