Larry I’m a 73 year old male that has always loved to learn. I’ve loved cars and their appearance all my life but have always been terrible about keeping them looking their best. I became very sick and bed ridden for about 2 weeks. I was going crazy and decided to start watching UA-cam to learn more about what interests me. I stumbled across your videos and must say you are one heck of a teacher and caring person. Your approach and attitude are beyond reproach. I love your Honesty. To offer this to the general public is outstanding. You have motivated me to take better care of my vehicles and help my elderly friends do the same because we are still young at heart. Keep up the excellent work. Sorry for the long note. Thank you for being you.
Yes he has spent alot of time teaching us all. But baby I'll never do it. I'm 63 and I can't afford the products or the energy to be that good at keeping my car clean. Enjoy your youth and your young body that's able to go through all that. After the third child has been raised and your taking care of your grandkids and you've been branded disabled and you've lost everything but your FAITH... never mind. I'm truly grateful for everything that I have. It's not what I planned but it's better than the 1976 fifth wheel trailer I was living in! I didn't like the mice and rats and bugs that somehow always got in. God HELP ME I'm so TIRED.
Julian i am 72 and have detailed for 50 years. might take 2-3 days for results but certainly thearpy. Larry is magnanimous some of my older friends help with their cars. My garage is a gorgeous haven for chilling and enjoying detailing.
@@tracy85777 I love seeing older people on UA-cam! It's not at all just a place for gaming and young people. You can learn just about anything on here. Just because people in the community want to make these videos about what they are passionate about and teach people along the way. UA-cam is a major achievement and does not get enough credit. Hello Larry. Thank you for this video. I’ve just watched it now, never ever get tired of hearing you talk. Can’t believe this series is FREE. Thank you so much, learning a lot so far. Honesty the best series on detailing.
Larry is the best guy in the business. So dedicated. Must be hard to never accept a dirty car. I imagine Larry driving around and the anxiety builds when he sees dirty cars.
Your hydrate drying method is the smartest detailing thing I’ve ever seen. I started doing it about 4 months ago and it works so well. I use to use normally drying towels and I always new it would scratch it but I didn’t know what else to do so I just excepted it. Thanks for offering this to everybody.
The thing about Ammos videos is the apply to life. He essentially teaches to always do the best you can, don’t take shortcuts, show the passion and love through the work. And finally develop processes for life
Im a begginner detailer starting out my pwn private detailer. I have 1.5 years car wash experience and 6 months detail experience. I found this soooo helpful and interesting. A few rules and basics here that I never would of thought of 🤔 Thanks for these videos, you are great at explaining things and this will help me alot 😊❤
For me the two most beneficial tips have been cleaning the wheels first and using the quick detailer when drying the car...you can definitely see the difference.
Larry. I Have to thank you. I went form Washing my car with a Sponge, 1 bucket and a Shammy (Yeay I Know right) to What seems like very close to the Method in this vid after discovering your channel about 2 years ago, My car since then is Looking Clean and New, Just again THANKS for the Tips Tricks and just plain awesome advice you give out. and I think the fact that you do this all for free just shows what kind of person you are!!! I Just Really wish Shipping and Exchange rates was better so I Could use your products here in South Africa!! Please Keep it up!! Cheers Mike!
Larry, your training, tips and techniques are what help make up weekend warriors much better at doing the thing we love. I love to keep my car, my wifes car and the familys cars clean and protected. So to learn techniques along with does and donts from someone like you has changed my life. Our cars have never looked so clean and stay cleaner for longer. It even lead me to let my father in law clean his porsche as he saw the results i was getting. Im currently in the process of re organising my garage to make it easier to sort out my car cleaning equipment. Wont be to the same standard as your dream garage, but you have inspired me to do this project. For that and everything else i just wanted to thank you. Keep doing what you do and make the world a better place.
Gasp...Larry, you just surprised me again. I thought i knew how to was from top to bottom, but i was wrong. This part, especially with basic tools...straight to my favs.
love these videos, Larry! your "crazy" explanations of how to wash are so good! I have been watching your channel for years now! I have learned so much! Washing this video made me feel better about our wash process also, because we do exactly what you mention here with the exception of using our pressure washer and foam cannon. I literally do everything you mentioned in this video, from washing half the car from top to bottom and using 2 mitts, 1 for top portions and 1 for bottom portions. makes so much sense to me. I try to teach some of our customers who care about their cars these same techniques. keep up the crazy detailing work!!
Can you make a video for people who lets say live in an apartment complex or have to go to coin washes? What would be the best way to care for your paint in those scenarios? A lot of us dont have access to a hose/space but want to keep our babies shining
In this time of Covid-19, self quarantining and social distancing.. this is a great series to learn how to properly detail your car! If you do detail, either as a clan car fanatic, weekend warrior or full-time detailer, this is a great review to keep your vehicles and your client's vehicles looking great.
I recently discovered your channel and your quickly becoming my favorite detailing channel!!! I'm a diy weekend warrior and looking to learn more to up my game. Many channels push products to make money. Im a minimalist and hate needing so much equipment and different products, cleaners, supplies, ect ... Too easy to fall into a rabbit hole always looking for the next best thing. I plea with you to come out with more beginner simplistic videos that you give advice on what minimal equipment and specific methods and supplies you need to improve car detailing 90% better than the average person. I'm trying to create a car care routine that I can implement and use on a regular basis without constantly seeking out new improved methods and products. I'm looking for a tried and true simple quick and effective routine I can use for years to come. I really like the idea of doing a monthly maintenance wash, starting with a wash using a traffic film remover or best method to strip old wax/grease/film, followed by drying (not sure if towel vs leaf blower is faster as I'd prefer using just one method), followed by a wax and grease remover like duplicolor, followed by some type of paint sealant. My thought is to strip all wax each time I wash the car and then just apply a fresh coat of paint sealant after each wash. If I perform this routine 30 days I can have max protection and avoid needing frequent paint corrections. I figured doing a light clay with light polish correction once per year. What's your thoughts on this method and and suggestions would earn a long term new supporter!!!! Thank you!
Larry the type of guy to see a therapist about his OCD and then spend 6 hours detailing the therapist's car and selling $1k worth of AMMO products to him as well. I love this channel!
Larry, great vid!! This new tutorials of the Academy are really helpfull, you explain ir very clearly and in an easy way. Keep going because we really apreciate it a lot. Regards from Spain ;)
Congratulations on your baby! One suggestion, you should make one of your two wash buckets have a different colour rim like you have with your wheel bucket - like read and green or something - I use a red bucket and a white bucket - white for rinse, red for soap, and a blue bucket (I use my older bucket) for my wheels - makes it much less likely for me to accidentally dunk the dirty wash mitt in the wrong bucket.
No more making fun of this young man! You're just jealous because your car probably looks as bad as mine does. Thank you for your time and teaching. I do appreciate you. God bless you and your family. You've been blessed with a little one. They're so precious when they're babies. I miss my babies but they have teenagers! They're getting grey in their hair and it freaks me out. Where did the time go? Dude, be sure and spend every second you can with your wife and baby. That is something that will always be remembered. Hi Larry, Great instructive videos. I try to take great care of my paint and have adopted the folling method and feel that it is good. As I describe what i do, can you tell me if there are any mistakes that I am making. 1. of course do wheels first. 2. Lightly pressure wash the big dirt particles off the paint 3. Spray shampoo on with a foam cannon and let it sit for 5 minutes to loosen dirt that has adhered to the paint and didn't come off with the first rinse. 4. Rinse with pressure washer. 5. Spray shampoo on with a foam cannon again 6. Wash mit lightly over the foam on the paint (two mit technique) to get the dirt that didn't come off with the first shampoo 7. Rinse with pressure washer 8 Blow dry the car with an electric leaf blower. No towel to potentially scratch the paint. 9. Ceramic detailer (i put a ceramic on the paint) to catch any moisture (left over from blow drying) with a microfiber towel. Any suggestions???
Hey man I have followed your steps and on my god what a difference it mate I’m calling from Australia and I have been looking at your program for a long time now jeez only if you guys were here I’ll send you my card details thank you for your handy tips keep up the good effort
Larry i really loved the tip of spraying the towel with spray wax and i use it since i saw the vid with the ferrari where you showed that tip. That way i dry my car and wax it at the same time!
Larry, first of all let me tell you, you did a great job on this video! maybe it makes sense to tell people to remove jewellery from their hands as most people do not use gloves? And a very basic way to dry the car much faster, is to take advantage of the cohesion of the water... Remove the sprayer and hose down the car gently from top to bottom and let the water do most of the work. Works great on protected cars!

I emailed Larry a few days ago about a wax problem and I got a reply. Cool because I'm in Africa and so not a potential client at all but he still took the time to respond.
Have learned a lot from watching your videos. I am about to purchase an SUV I have been wanting and with winter coming to new england soon, I'd like to know what I need to do to get my car through the winter. I want to make sure there is at least a layer of protection to make it through to Spring. I just saw your video for your beginner class to learn how to detail and plan on watching the rest with my upcoming days off. What products do you recommend from the wash to the waxing? Keep the videos coming!! I really like seeing the old cars you find and restore. Thank you for taking the time to teach us beginners!!
Larry, with your property being in NYC and so forth, you complained about your heavy water at one point, might I suggest rainwater tanks, after about 5 years you will feel that you would need to expand on your tanks and have more than enough for your family use in the home. The best thing about rainwater is that it's much more lighter as it hasn't absorbed the minerals while falling underground like bore water so a light filtration system should be enough to get you through the car washes and you would be addicted to the taste too. it's quite inexpensive and if your house already has gutters then you can install it yourself as long as you have a concrete slab on a level surface.
Good video Larry. Ok, so i'm OCD and have run out of topsides and interior to clean. Generally, I clean the car in hours equal to the drive hours. Yes, I'm crazy. I need to see what you do to clean the underneath of the car. To date, I put the Mercedes-Benz on jack stands and clean the underneath using a spray wax and microfiber towels. This takes about 6 hours to do and is a lactic acid in the arms test for sure. The guys at Mercedes-Benz comment every service. Their groomer made a point of coming out to the waiting room to check out who the hell I was to be more insane than him. BTW. Your wheels woolies are amazing.

LOL
Same general rules. My bikes are always clean.

That is unfortunately your fault.

True. The least we could do is to play his videos on youtube instead of vimeo so he could earn via ads :)
Or pay via subscription - more subscribers = more views = more ad revenue if monetized. It’s a vicious cycle but grinding will get you there. 🤙🏼

This is awesome. Thanks for giving it to the car enthusiasts of the world for free.
Can't wait to college tomorrow for somebody to ask how my Wednesday evening was...
It was lit, I spent 45 minutes watching a guy clean his car.
I always felt that the interior should be cleaned first as dust from vacuuming and cleaning can collect on the exterior of the car.
i agree, i do my interior first
I've started cleaning the interior first. I'm still dry and so is the driveway so my vacuum isn't sitting on the wet concrete.

Hi Larry, Great instructive videos. I try to take great care of my paint and have adopted the folling method and feel that it is good. As I describe what i do, can you tell me if there are any mistakes that I am making.
1. of course do wheels first.
2. Lightly pressure wash the big dirt particles off the paint
3. Spray shampoo on with a foam cannon and let it sit for 5 minutes to loosen dirt that has adhered to the paint and didn't come off with the first rinse.
4. Rinse with pressure washer.
5. Spray shampoo on with a foam cannon again
6. Wash mit lightly over the foam on the paint (two mit technique) to get the dirt that didn't come off with the first shampoo
7. Rinse with pressure washer
8 Blow dry the car with an electric leaf blower. No towel to potentially scratch the paint.
9. Ceramic detailer (i put a ceramic on the paint) to catch any moisture (left over from blow drying) with a microfiber towel.
Any suggestions???

I emailed Larry a few days ago about a wax problem and I got a reply. Cool because I'm in Africa and so not a potential client at all but he still took the time to respond.
Best cleaning Video ever!
Hi Larry, greetings and thanks from Madagascar.
awesome video specially the glass cleaning technique.
Whoa, a 45 minute video! Let me go get something to eat first
Good video Larry.
We would all love to see a super dirty car getting a wash from you!
... and I think Larry has given that to you a while ago: ua-cam.com/video/vsWiV_3PTkM/v-deo.html
Such an epic video. I really love it. Grab a bucket of popcorn and watch this movie. :)
Great video, the only thing I would add is to make sure you use distilled water in you 50/50 IPO mixture.
What I learned...#1 lots of lubrication is always better. #2 small orifices provide better suction than large ones.
The best tip that not many people talk about, owning a garage to store your car in
Man you are the Jason Bourne of car washing!
For any negative comments you must be jealous! He is awesome!
