Tips For Changing Sockets
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- In this on site video we give tips for replacing BS 1363 sockets. Will the twin and earth stripper make this job easier or not? It's important to check the cable ends as they made be weaker after removing the from the original socket before replacing it.
I would like to personally apologise for my breath as I was under the doctor at the time of recording.
Note always prove the circuit is isolated and isolation is secured before staring work on an electrical system.

I love all of your videos Gary. The way you explain everything it all makes perfect sense.
Back in the day, I was tough to pull earth (CPC) down to split the outer casing, then trim it with side cutters...lol, now we have these wonderful (expensive) tools to make it easy. Good video 👍🏻
Some of that older twin and earth sheath is a nightmare to strip off!
I do love modern tools and have a pair similar to those, but still love my 27 year old cable knife for older cables!!
We have been using green/yellow earth sleeving since the early to mid seventies. Grey outer sheath I would concur with you Gaz end of the nineties early two thousands . We were still using white Sheath TW&E up to about the mid to ninteis , And it wasn’t low smoke/ halogen. Just standard PVC . Those TW&E strippers are fantastic but sadly a waste of time when it comes to the back boxes. It simply a lot easier and quicker to just pull the Earth conductor back along the required length.
You're not supposed to use the CPC to strip it because it stretches the copper (it was in an efixx video). There are other, better ways to do it like using a knife as Gary suggested.
Good tutorial Gaz
Massive thanks 🦾
old way is still the best, pull that cpc back , be job done about halfway through the video, Never the less well done Gaz your video's are very educating , and yes cpc not the earth we stand on that, grow our spuds in it
Bahut badhiya Kam Kiya hai 😊😊
Nice video Gary 🙌🏻
@@spakajo thanks 👍🏻
Great tip, thanks
If thats freshly plastered they want to get them back!!!!😂😂
That's lovely and amazing
quickwire, jokari and CK are all the same tool. As demonstrated they are excellent but, now my blades are a bit blunt, what is the option to replace? Could you do a video on this perhaps?
Also, just as a buying guide, a VDE 1000v rated screwdriver with a 3.5 or 4mm flat tip is what you need for UK 3 pin socket outlets.
@@LeighWinspear 3.5 - 4mm is good for pattress screws, but it's a bit small for socket terminals. I'd say 4.5 - 5mm.
@gadgetman36 some say 4.16367mm is ideal.
@@gadgetman36 You must have weak wrists ord lad.......;)
Cable that has been installed for a good few years will work harden, both copper and pvc more on power circuits than ltg. due to higher loads.
Hi i planning to buy a multifunction tester. Please can you advise me for the best one you recommended
Kind regards
Sorry my teacher, I'm a Tanzanian my problem to read/know installation of three fase and other issues about Electricity. But i haven't any sponsor😢, Please Help me because my dream is Electrical engineering🙏🙏
