    Something you could add... if when you do the R1+R2 after doing the R1+Rn, if the switch doesn't switch off the second time round, it would have meant (pending on other tests) that it is highly likely that the switches are double pole and only the neutral pole was switching off

    Taking the resistance from the sockets when the whole ring is one continuous conductor made into a loop.
    The L & N in the socket may be at opposite ends to the loop. That is, if the loop is 100 metres long, the L & N in the socket will be 50 metres apart on the one and same loop. So the measurement is right around the loop? Hence a reading of 0.5.

    Hi,
    A few (maybe silly) questions please as I've never done testing before, just learning now.
    - Do I need to disconnect everything from the sockets before testing?
    - Do I need to switch ON or OFF the sockets each?
    - What if there is fused spur on the ring? My boiler is on the ring of the living room sockets. What should I do with it?
    Many thanks for your answer in advance!

  • @tommcconnell69
    @tommcconnell69 Рік тому

    Are the readings coming down because you've sprayed the plug top and loosened the contacts or just because the liquid is reducing the resistance in the contacts momunterely as it is aiding the flow of current with the plug top being wet ? Just a thought.

    I noticed Marcus used the tips of the crocs when connecting to the conductors, my cps assessor has questioned me twice on consecutive visits how I personally carry this out, if I use the tips he says the spring end gives a better connection and visa-versa on another visit, personally I don't think it matters so long as the contact is good, what is your opinion?

    Fantastic video, I’m not an electrician, both yourself and JW state on the figure of eight test between the line and cpc should be higher overall due to the thinner cpc but all substantially the same , but the on site guide suggests increase or decrease measurements depending where you are on the circuit?

    • @burningdevil12345
      @burningdevil12345 Рік тому

      The on site guide is correct. I tried explaining this to my tutor and he didn't accept it. When you draw it out it makes perfect sense. (r1+r2) / 4 works when you're half way around the ring. As you move along, you will have more cpc on one leg and more line on the other. So the overall resistance decreases as you move towards the ends of the ring

  • @17italyman
    @17italyman 2 роки тому

    you said in the AM2S theres a fuse spur which goes to a outside socket,when testing at the fuse spur could you not put your probes onto the load side of the spur and click the switch to confirm polarity as well and then test the outside socket like normal ?

    On a ring you can only spur one and if you want another one you need an fcu. This is because you could potentially draw more than 26amps correct? However, with radial circuits does this reg come into place because before you can draw more than 26amps the 16a mob should trip correct?
