The cars are cool, but the real treasure here is Walt West. Such a thoroughly enjoyable video, found m'self not wanting it to end. Thanks Jerry, you've got a talent for making these little gems. And thank you Walt, for sharing with us a little bit of your life's story. Cheers!
Even that pup knows Walt is a great human , nice family truly a remarkable man thank you for your service Walt.
Willie is a doll face...he said they would fire the 16 inch gun off the side and the ship would rock. I could listen to him for the rest of my life. Thank you for sharing...and sir, thank you for your service peace
He looks amazing. He looks in better shape than a lot of 70 year olds and he's still really sharp. God bless him!
What a guy, Walt is one of America's greatest generation. 98 and still sharp as a tack. I'm very thankful for his service to our country. They need to write his life history down. It sounds amazing.
What a great gentleman....thank you for your service Walt.
From a Canadian - I enjoyed the video and want to add my thanks to Walt for his service. His generation was the salt of earth.
I am a Filipino and I'd like to thank you for the freedom we are enjoying here in the Philippines.
Thank Mr. West for my freedom! You are not only a "Salt of the Earth" individual, but a shining representation of the "Greatest Generation"! Wishing you many more years of Health and Happiness...
Thank you for saving the world Mr West ! May God bless you and yours !!!!!
"Saving the world" from what?
@@Snorklaren0 Really !!!
They should have saved the world from the communists
God bless him and our Greatest Generation, salute!
He is a treasure to his family, I think the way his kids treat him and talk about mother and dad is his top accomplishment.
He's sharp for 98!! I love listening to him talk about the past!!
Thank you sir for serving our great nation. Men like him are why i chose to wear a uniform myself. Awesome cars.
That's a great story and a amazing car thank you Walt west for your service
Love the way he tells the story of being in the war...just like it happened yesterday. Fabulous memory for a 98-year old.
Mr.West, thank you very much for all the service you gave to your country!! My dad just turned 94 on January 3, 2019 and he spent most of his WWII time in the US Army Air Corp in the Aleutian Islands, in Alaska. The weather was a lot colder than down south but nobody was having much fun back then. He retired from active duty in June of 1965, in Ft. Huachuca, AZ.
I really enjoy the value your family has put on those old cars that you and your wife bought over the years. Those are the memories that can not be replaced by any means. Your family will be the history that you will be remembered by. Thanks again, Mr. West, for all that you have done.
Such a great story thank you west for yur service
Walt you are a living pice of history. Thank you for your story and thank you for your service. God bless you my friend
Sharp as a tack.
What a treasure he is. And he still has them after all these years.
A true American hero. Did what needed doing at the time. One of millions of Americans that helped make this country. God bless you sir.
Awesome, love our Old Folks,he reminds me of my Dad,he kept everything, love their stories, one of the things I truly miss from my Dad,
I like his story about buying the Plymouth. He sounds like a real shrewd negotiator.
This is why I try to encourage young folks, and even not so young folks to get out there and talk to these old guys and gals. I guarantee they have stories that are far more entertaining and educational than any of the crap you'll read on you phones and/or see on TV any given day.
What a nice family and interesting story. He reminds me a lot of my own Grandpa. A generation who fought a war that changed the word and lived a harder and simpler life than we do today. The son isn’t too young to remember much of that and seems to remember a lot of details and is very attentive and rightfully proud. I hope it’s not rude to say but the daughter is a very nice looking woman with a beautiful smile and probably broke a lot of hearts when she was a young lady. I understand the value of these cars as family items but market value would have been much higher if he had had a taste for the two door models. Thank you for the visit with these folks, it was very enjoyable and well presented with your recording and editing.
She's still breaking hearts...
All right Joe.
I love listening to the old guys talk about the past that most people only dream about what the oldest of our people went through and how lucky we are now these type of men fault for our freedom and the way of life we have today and we as the future need to sit down and listen to these men and women before they are all gone
The black soldiers came home to the jim crow law .
What an amazing story my dad was in wwll it’s great to here the life story of someone who looked out for our freedom thanks for your service
He did his best with best of intentions, no doubt, but the war hasn't saved any world, at least not this one here.
I've commented before on a previous video on how you bring forth the human element in your presentation. You wrote back that you appreciate that I got it. You've upped to another level. This video was beautiful and edited wonderfully. I want to say thank you for your service Walt. Thank you for a artful video Jerry
Check the patina on that carb 16:15 ... :) Brother! I haven't seen a yellow & black TX plate since I was a young buck!
Thank-You For Your Service Sir!
Thank you for service and a fantastic story.
So much love and respect for father and family in this video. It comes through so naturally and effortlessly. The narrator beautifully tells the story.
My grandpa was in the ccc and then in the see bees in ww2 he was also the first chief of police in Elma Washington back in the day, awesome video, thanks
An honorable life well lived. Proof that a good sense of humor sows longevity.
Mr. West Sir, from this Vet thank you for your service...To his family, my dad and I restored classic cars for better part of 20+ yrs ( he closed his shop 2yrs ago due to cancer)...please wash the cars and put car covers over them to help preserve the cars and the paint..it can get costly to have them repainted ....
Hall pass due to Mia horse
Classic.
Best to Walt and his family
A life lived and going strong!
Thanks to all for opening up your home to others -
Great story of a young car guy that did his duty and then lived the dream that we all hoped for... we should all be so fortunate ! Thank You West family for sharing the story and cars, and thank you for bringing it to us Jerry !
SIR,,THE UPMOST RESPECT FOR YOU AND YOUR WONDERFUL FAMILY,,MY OLDEST BROTHER SERVED AS A U,S, NAVY MEDIC IN THE PHILIPPINES,,,GOD BLESS AMERICA'' I AM NOW RETIRED IN THE PHILIPPINES,,,
Thank you Walt West for your service, and sharing your story and family with us 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
You can tell from his oldest daughter and son that he and his wife were great parents too 😊👍
Reminds me of my grandfather, man i miss him. I could sit and bs with this generation all day!
The Philippines always remembers your bravery and sacrifices Sir. Thank you very much Sir! Filipino here ☺
My Grandfather was there in the Navy in WW2, he always spoke very highly of how generous and thankful the people of the Phillipines were to them. He spent the rest of his life sending prayer cards to the churches and missions there. I was told many times how much suffering the Phillipines went through before being liberated. War is such a waste. I do know your country has a big following of people who restore and make replacement parts for old WW2 US Army Jeeps, that is very cool and a great way to rember those who sacrificed so much in the past. I cant believe people used to dig up and reuse the ruined jeeps that were burried and left behind by the military after the war.
Mr. West I have to thank you for your service to your country. You and all those men and women who served their country "WITH PRIDE AND HONOR!" You most certainly were "THE GREATEST GENERATION." Your generation was a tough one...lived through the "Great Depression" and then to go on to fight WWII. Tough old birds ya all were. And you're still with us after all those years! GOD bless you and your family Mr West.
That old timer had all his wits at 98. I could sit and listen to him tell stories all day.
MY MOMS 99 same gen. will be 100 this year..didnt think there were many of these folks left..them kids are my age..lol, it's cool that his stuff is in order and he knows where and what he has..and he's lucky to have kids that take care of him, I like his ccc story, what kid back then didnt do time in that program, we still have pic's of my dad in ccc and lots of his ww2 stuff all so, he passed back in 98'.
Hello from Ohio what a beautiful story. Thank you sir for your service. You are a treasure and a great American patriot God bless you.
I smiled through the entire video, my thanks goes out to this wonderful man and his service to the country.
What a joy to watch; 98 with your kids still around, digging around the stuff of your long life and sharing warm memories. Infinite thanks for your service too.
Damn the cars...
The real treasure is this Vet.
Were blessed to see and have him... God blessed America.
Thank you sir for your service
I live far away from them, but we have something in common, we all learned to drive in a 55' Ford, and i'm just 24 years old ... Great family, great story.
Can't begin to tell you how entertaining this was...This man is the epitome of What made America Great! unlike what we have now that thinks he knows what makes America Great. Very cool that you (Jerry) got to meet and interact with this very cool Gentleman and his family....Love Your Channel!!
Awesome guy and family!
This is a true American hero ... The cars are awesome but I would love to just set and talk with him, and just listen to his stories.. Most kids these days are just looking for a hand out, not willing to work hard gor something. I wish we could go back to the good old days when a handshake was as good as a singed document. But those days are gone.Thank you for yor service. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
I cant help but love that old man and his passion for cars.
Walt was quite the "Handsome Hero" in his day,an Army Vet who must have fought off a lot of young women after the war.Thank You for the video, all the best.
He's a perfect example that not all people are hoarders. It's there life they wish not to forget. He preserved history.
Thank you for your service and your sacrifice Mr West. Our Son Joshua gave his all. He was a fire support specialist with the 3RD infantry division. He trained in Oklahoma as you did. Have wonderful day Sir.
The real treasure and gold mine is Walt and his family. Much love and respect. Thank you Walt for your service.

I need to move to Texas.
Wow, just, wow! Awesome find and an awesome man!
Thanks for the vid!
As a veteran myself...what a man, to be cherished and respected. I would like to see him in his old uniform with a full salute...this is history you cannot buy....great soldier, great American, thank you Sir. You gave me the life I have today..... cherish the veterans folks.
My dad served in the Americal Division in WW2 in New Caledonia from 42 to the end of the war as a chemical warfare technician (flame thrower operator)he survived three major amphibious landings with different units. After he was discharged he fathered 7 children, outlived 3 wives and all three of his siblings, never missed a day of work, drank and smoked just about every day of the 93 years on earth. He died on his girlfriend's 53rd birthday. She cried like a baby. Kids today can't even fathom a life like that.
Hello folks, I thank you so very much indeed Mr.West for your sacrifices ,service and your support. You are a true gentleman. My little girl and I sitting here listening to you and your grown children. My little girl is now 3 years old, she says to me their is someone's grandfather. I am trying to get her spot veterans by looking at them. God bless you all.
I want to commend the children and this lucid 98 year old WWII veteran. I am posting this in June 2020. I have a best friend Jess who turned 94 May 10th. He lives independently in his home. He was born in Iowa and moved out to Oregon in 1936. Jess was a WWII veteran serving in the pacific. We need to cherish these WWII veterans. We will only have them for a few more years. I loved this story.
God bless this man and family . A lot like my grandpa and great uncles who all served in WW2 ..America was great then because of people like this .

I really miss this generation of people. My grandfather was a WW2 veteran & pearl harbor survivor. Also a Korean war veteran. Treasure these old timers.

Great video! What a neat family! Nothing wrong with Walt's mind. His memory and ability to describe his Army experience is pretty amazing. I can't help but think the fact Walt is doing so well is related to how close he is to his kids. By the way, if Walt's kids ever get that "55 running, please post a photo of it. I'd like to see it.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing your life with us Thanks for your Service, from a fellow Vet. Lovely family. Nice car collection. You need to get that Caddie out and do some cruising around town.

Jerry this is the type of video's I love to see. The stories he has are great and so are the car's. His dog is much friendlier than that dog in one of your video's when you where down in Mexico from a few video's ago. Thanks for sharing.
Watching this for 20 + minutes is the best 20+ minutes I spent in a long long time. Thanks Jerry.
Great video. Loved the senior Veteran. Quite a salesman as he could really deal with the salesman. LO l. Thanks!
Wow. I came for the cars and left with a great story from an even greater man, it was like sitting with my grandfather and listening to his WWII stories. So cool to hear this story. This should've been a History Channel Video because it's chocked full of this mans knowledge that can't be replace. Now it's all on this video. I can just picture his military life. Sounds like he enjoyed it though. Thank you sir for your Service in the Military. I'm a retiree from the Air Force myself and the Military, well you just don't forget it.
This video isn't about cars. This video tells a story of the toughest generation of Americans. Walt thank you for your service and a great story. These men arnt gonna be here much longer and we need to appreciate them while there here . 🇺🇸
