    Nothing like a good UA-cam video to show me how to install the parts in the correct order. Myself (like Todd G) I took mine apart mos ago and by the time I finally cleaned and refurbished mine (73 cb750) for rebuild, I forgot. I'm 60 yrs young and I've been told I suffer from "CRS" (can't remember shit). Thx again

    You guys should put in the description, it's a 13mm deep socket. Does the job like a charm. Don't press your piston in right away, it will pop right back out. The seal on it makes it feel like it won't go in! Takes some force. Put the spring & cup in. Then insert your piston, washer and then the circlip. Push in with the 13mm deep socket and it will lock into the groove. Takes 30 seconds this way.

    Allow me to give a tip if you're scared of damaging the reed valve when stretching the seal onto the piston (as mentioned in the video). The diameter of a standard sized nozzle of any typical sealant etc that fits a sealant gun is fractionally larger than the diameter of the piston. So get a nozzle and cut it off square with a hacksaw at it's widest end and with fine sandpaper make sure the cut end is nice and smooth. Grease the nozzle and slide the seal to the point where it's just overlapping the end. Put the piston up against it and pull it off the nozzle onto the piston. Works a treat.

      The Reporter A AA (double A) battery is also about the same size as the end of the cylinder so may help to get the seal on, I will try it.

    Very important to mention… When the piston is in the rest position, the brake fluid will be balanced via The compensation hole. This compensation hole is very small, clean this compensation hole with a very thin wire of copper, if it would clog… you are guaranteed a dragging caliper, this has already happened to me twice!!! with the Honda CBX 1000. Stay Safe.

    at 4:07 there was no mention of this piece in the disassembly video so I tried to ignore it but the bolt for the lever would not align so I removed the old plastic bit and installed their new one and the bolt aligned fine.

    Hey, could you guys please make a video on bleeding the system after a rebuild?

    Great video, very informative. One question, I followed this but can't get it to bleed. No fluid is getting passed the reservoir. I did air blast all the holes before reinstalling. Anyone got any ideas? I've bled loads of brakes in the past and never had a problem before.

    How to get the piston out? I got the circlip off. Am I supposed to insert something in the inner end of the main casting and hammer it out?

    • @randalmontgomery4595
      @randalmontgomery4595 2 роки тому

      Oh I see there is another video that preceded this one on dis-assembling. I got the dust boot and plain ring out but I cannot get the damn circlip out. It sits about 1/4" below the casting.so the special pliers won't reach I ground down a pair of needle nose and can sometimes get the ends in the tiny holes but they wont grip enough to pull out the ring.

    I see you stated that this kit will work for the CB 550F, but will it work for the 550K ?? I assume it would..

    • @Common-motor
      @Common-motor  3 роки тому

      Yes! Its fully compatible with the CB550K and CB500K as well.

    What did you use to hone the inside where the plunger goes?

  • @dougcook859
    @dougcook859 4 роки тому

    Absolutely loved both the disassembly and the reassembly video, I wish i would've watched them be for I started hacking away without knowing what i was doing... :-( At the 45 second mark you mention you honed the bore, can you elaborate on how you did that and how you determine if the bore is good or not before you spend the money on a rebuild kit only to find out the bore is not serviceable?

      Hey Doug, its a bit of a long winded explanation. I'd recommend setting yourself up with one of our tech support calls over on our website and we can explain it over the phone.

    They should mention that the drift should had a tiny end that fits into a tiny hole in the casing , not be just less than the diameter of the hole where the brake hose attaches. Not knowing that I was using a drift that just cleared the threads of the banjo bolt and wasted hours and propane fuel and penetrating fluid and all i accomplished was to bend my drift and burn my hands, and then when i tried a different drift, ruining the threads where the banjo bolt goes in..

    Took it to local bike shop, they used two dental hook tools to get the circlip out.

    Soke the rubber plunger in hot water a few minutes before install. While its hot , blot it dry with paper towel. Install quickly before it cools.
    Soft rubber stretches. You guy's with shall hands don't know about that.😮

    If you’re using oil to install those parts you’re screwed, that oil will destroy the seals.
    What is wrong with this guy?!!!!!!!!!!!
